is he funny? Am I missing something? All the nonsense about what his mum/dad say (in a OTT northern accent)? All the talk about being ‘on the tools’ as if he’s a manual worker done good

Not really, he annoys me, but less than some of the other presenters. He seems to make some jokes that are inherently unfunny, but is still preferable to Gary Davies covering for him.

I just wish I could find another radio station I could enjoy. Can't get on with any of the commercial ones.

No, he really annoys me. I will often switch off now and turn on BBC sounds and find things to listen on there.

I can't stand commercial stations, so I am stuck with the BBC.

Love Gary Davies. Can't stand Vernon (sorry Vern). He has no rapport with his callers, no interviewing skills. He is obsessed with tradies and obviously doesn't like his core audience (that he is lucky to have), he is not very bright.

Vernon Kay and Tess Daly struck gold for being very vanilla, somewhat easy on the eye (they were both models) and with minimal talent.

He frankly comes across as a bit dense… I tuned in once and never again.

I actually really like his show! I find him to be quite warm and strives to connect with the audience. He's not self obsessed etc. I like that the show is very formulaic and you always know what you're getting. No wackiness, gets you through the morning.

I find him ok but my DH can’t stand his OTT ecky thump northern persona. The R2 presenter I had to switch off immediately was Zoe ball.

I don't like all that cash register stuff and must admit to being glad when it's Gary Davis.

However he's preferable to Scott Mills and his travel woman. I'm dreading him returning on Monday.

I knew him in the 90s. He's always been an insufferable bore.

Plus I can never move past the fact he was sexting other women behind his wife's back.

I think he is outdated and annoying too. IMO he is a left over presenter from when they tried to be inclusive to DJ's from the North around the time Chris Evans became a hit.

He looks like a fish out of water on The One Show. Sits awkwardly, reacts slowly, a bit dim and lacks charisma

I think this might be the answer for me. All of the shows I would enjoy are not on when I'm working and that is when I like to listen to the radio.

I used to like his Saturday afternoon show on Radio 1, it was my drive to London show so I hold fond memories of it (and Starvin Marvins on the A40 RIP 😢).

I don't tend to listen to the radio much during the day (not sure why i work in silence because I don't actually like it 😅).

I can't stand him at all. I find him totally unfunny and really creepy!
