One shitty job a day - mission to get all the crappy tasks done this year

I'm an eternal untidy person. I don't see my own clutter. I've tried HARD to find a routine that I can get engaged in, signed up for COUNTLESS get yourself organised apps.

I saw a video yesterday about getting one shitty job a day done. I think I can manage one shitty job a day. So far I cleaned the lounge carpet (over yesterday and today, bad back and heavy furniture) and I've painted a door that's been off it's hinges and propped up against my hall wall for maybe a year.

I reckon one shitty job a day (or for an hour towards it say, after work, longer crap jobs can be done at the weekend) I can do. I can finally finish decorating the kitchen. I can finally finish painting the landing/stairs/hall after the ceiling collapsed in Autumn 2024, I can sort out the front garden one job at a time (hell, I can even get rid of the ironing mountain and charity shop everything I no longer wear for an hour a day).

Anyone want to join me? Or any tips for starting AND STICKING WITH domestic routines?

Did the front porch this morning, hoovered mats, threw them over the wall to air, tossed out muddy footwear from DH walks with the dogs. Vacuumed every corner, there's leaves, dried mud again.

Shower room. Cleaned the shower tray, dehaired the plug hole, cleaned sink and loo. Vacuumed. DH put a new brush head on the vacuum. Jakers what an improvement. The dog hairs were conquered in the sitting room.

I'm saving decluttering the wardrobes for a rainy day. I've far too much stuff. 🙈

I was thinking of this thread today so I’m glad to see it’s popped up again in my “threads I’m on”.
ive been doing really well recently. I’ve committed to spending a minimum of 30 minutes every day tidying/ decluttering something and also maintaining the tiptop standards in all the areas already done. Or doing adulting admin paperwork of some sort.

Used a comparison site for renewing building/contents insurance, instead of just allowing previous insurance to roll on. Feels so hard to find time with a 3 year old for thing like this, but it's done ✅

I have emptied my "ooh look" cupboard where I keep presents I am planning to use for birthdays and Christmas but often forget I have pre-bought. I have put a note pad inside the door with names and presents on it so I will know at a glance that Great Aunt Lucy is catered for for the next 100 years. Also found Christmas cards before swearing at the universe and buying more.

Today I WILL empty my car. It's jam packed with DD belongings.I drove up last Friday as she is off travelling on Saturday for the year and needed to empty her room.
Unfortunately it was raining when I got home, then I worked the weekend, so today's the day.
Im going back tomorrow for pictures and mirrors

No little jobs for us--builders are here! So plaster chopped out to waist height, plastered, new radiator(that we didn't know we needed). Being sealed tomorrow inside and out, then wait till dry. Order new carpet, paint ceiling and skirting board and coving.

Three tier trolley I bought for post surgeries because I knew I would be pretty immobile. DH built flat pack but didn't put in support struts. Bottom shelf dropped out a few months ago. This morning I emptied it turned upside down. Couldn't get nails banged in, screws too long. DH came back from fishing, box of screws from garage done three shelves in five minutes.
