Just for fun!
One thing that I feel just makes me superior than most is that I am a twin mum. Can’t really explain it except that I feel like superwoman for growing 2 babies myself at once

one thing that will make me think you are cooler than most of if you’re left handed, no idea why, I just know I always wanted to be left handed when I was a kid😂

Dogs do as I tell them. Even ones who ignore their owners. And they follow me everywhere. I seem to attract children and animals

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 30/12/2025 09:59

I can walk into a bookshop and see my name on the shelves (books I wrote, not sharing a name with an author). My kids take great delight in finding them and shouting 'Mum! It's one of yours!'

I have an excellent memory for people;'s personal details (although I can't remember their name!). I can ask after kids, pets, how their holiday went etc when they've only mentioned it to me once.

I'm quite good with dogs, even unruly ones behave for me and horses that can be gnarly are often better behaved for me. I just think I drug them with my sheer lack of charisma.

So many cool people on here!

I don't feel like this is a good thing but I am a sponge for other people's emotions. I feel what other people are feeling as I talk to them. They might be smiling and chatty but I can feel what they are really feeling, so I ask a pertinent question and it all comes out.

sashh · 30/12/2025 10:02

Question for the linguists.

What language do you dream in? I knew I was fairly fluent in BSL when I started dreaming in it, but people who couldn't sign, suddenly, in my dream could.

AnnaCantata · 30/12/2025 10:03

Good question @sashh I sometimes dream in my second language if I've spent the evening speaking in it, but mostly my dreams have feelings rather than language.

RosesAndHellebores · 30/12/2025 10:03

I can analyse information very quickly and weigh up people pretty accurately.

u3ername · 30/12/2025 10:04

I am extremely quick at grasping theoretical stuff. School was a breeze. (Sadly, real life - jobs and relationships aren’t.)

I have a really wierd type of synesthesia, I can smell numbers and taste certain words

Wowsers, please can you tell us more. 😊

Squirrelblanket · 30/12/2025 10:06

I have excellent hair that I often get complimented on by strangers. Two people stopped me yesterday about it.

myhaggisblewup · 30/12/2025 10:07

I'm cool because I'm me, an individual who is unique, one of a kind and never have or will be replicated.
That's good enough for me.😃

Same, if I've been speaking my second language that day or watching /listening to something in that language I'll occasionally dream in it, or a mix of second and first languages. Usually just plain old English or no language at all though.

I have the best type of blood, according to the blood donor people. A type of O negative that can be used for neonatal and sickle cell anaemia - literally everyone can receive it.

Obviously not something I have achieved, but I’m strangely proud of it.

ZiggyZowie · 30/12/2025 10:15

I can talk softly to my dog ,one word commands when out and about while other people are shouting at theirs !
My dog listens and obeys.

I use same technique with my kids !

I learn (European) languages just for fun. I speak three of them fluently (after a "normal" monolingual UK upbringing) but have conversational ability or better in at least half a dozen others. I can just "see" how they work, and would never dream of visiting a European country without learning the language, regardless of its alphabet (Greek and Ukrainian, I'm looking at you!) Unfortunately, I can't extend this ability to the languages of other continents.

@sashh I usually dream in my second language which corresponds to the country in which I live.
When I return to the UK it takes a few days for the automatic reactions ( things like saying "sorry" when you bump into someone accidentally in the street) to shift back into English and the same applies to dreams.

(No shade @myhaggisblewup Grin)

At the end of New Order’s video for True Faith, there is a very, very brief shot of the crowd watching them play the live bit (at Glastonbury 1987) and I’m on the front row.

Screamingabdabz · 30/12/2025 10:17

Aw brilliant thread. ☺️ I’m very jealous of all these amazing cool people.

Sam9769 · 30/12/2025 10:18

I have the deep love of a little toy poodle called Victor. He loves me to bits (as I love him) and that makes me feel very special😃.

Gogogetem · 30/12/2025 10:18

I can parallel park in pretty much any space that fits my car - even if there's only a few inches either end.

I can also usually guess the time, often to the minute, without having seen a clock in hours.

AliceandOscar · 30/12/2025 10:21

I’m good at remembering number sequences like bank account numbers or credit card details. It means I don’t have to get cards out when booking things online or on the phone.
I don’t deliberately try to learn them, they just stick in my mind like a rhythm.
I’m also left handed and I never use swear words, I like to be more inventive in my cursing.

Andepeda · 30/12/2025 10:21

Reading this thread has reminded me of my specialness as a child that I'd forgotten about. Double jointed thumbs, my brothers were so jealous.

No one's impressed these days though. Sad

Me too. Went for medical scan recently, had a quick chat to another lady at the counter and by the time I sat down I had her medical and personal history!

Randos talk to me all the time. In a large group of pedestrians, they will beeline straight to me to ask directions and what not.

Also have 100% strike rate on the explosives security check at airports. Every single time I go through the scanners I get asked to step to one side for the stupid wavey wand. Irksome.

Animals also like me a lot. Wild or domesticated. Except plovers. Plovers and I are mortal enemies!

Edited

I too have the weird thing where I'm simulatenously the nicest looking person ever (if you want to strike up a conversation on the train, ask directions, get someone to take a photo of you with your family) and also DEEPLY suspicious looking (if you're airport security) 😁

I'm left handed, good enough at several crafts that people are genuinely happy to get handmade gifts from me, and I read extremely fast. I can also take on board, understand, contextualise and then teach others what I've just read. Comes in really handy when there are short notice legislative changes or similar at work.

😂 love that there's two of you

rickyrickygrimes · 30/12/2025 10:26

Children love me even though I am really quite strict.

I breastfed for 7 years continuously across two children. I'm really proud of that.

I am an excellent friend, I go the extra mile to support my friends especially when they are in need of help and even when it's an inconvenience to me. I've seen people who claim to be friends just melt away when they are needed to step up, and I just don't get it. Friendship is for the tough times too, not just having fun.
