Would you have got the Royal children a gift.

If I had been at Sandringham I would not have given the Royal children a gift as they get a lot of gifts anyway. Really they should have taken tubs of sweets and offered them to local children. That way they would have been polite.

No, it's so odd. From a security perspective the kids wont be allowed to have the chocolates, or even for them to be passed on.
I really do wonder what goes through these people's heads, do they think they'll get an invite to dinner?
If they really want to make a child's Christmas they would donate to a local charity, not give a family who aren't short of a few quid things they wont be allowed to keep anyway.

Very good point, I never thought they could be laced with something!

Ladymeade · 27/12/2025 18:43

I don't get a) why people would go out to "royal watch" or b) give their kids presents...? It's not as though they are not already privileged beyond belief.. (not a royal fan obvs but can't see any alternative either)

I saw a clip of a man handing out Disney toys to the three children with the biggest one for Louis and he then said to George that his Nanny Diana would be so proud.

Kind but so very cringeworthy and very very odd.

My thoughts precisely.

I think they should put out a statement to the effect of "While we very much appreciate your generosity in giving gifts to our children, we'd love it if, instead, you donated them to X charity, whose mission is to provide gifts to deprived children and their parents."

I find it really odd that people go to see them and buy gifts. More worrying are the people that are inappropriate with the children. There is a video on TikTok of a man repeatedly touching Charlotte and telling her she is beautiful and gorgeous. Why did her parents or security not step in? William and Kate are using their children to gain favour with the public but leaving Charlotte do deal with this, as well as people hugging her, is too much. Weird people with no boundaries, creepy men, something really bad will happen at some point and the parents will be to blame.

God, that's terrible poor girl!
It must be really a really difficult stance for Prince William and Kate... because that very thing could and has happened.
I thought they were a small bit lax by allowing the children some independence in this area.
Let's remember that they likely had some kind of security at this event, but I don't know how active or strict they are.
Having only seen a few tabloid photos of this event and some from the civilians taking some photos, that could have been shared in the media, I haven't seen any visible security, but neither have I looked.
I feel sorry for Charlotte (the most) in this situation.

William and Kate are using their children to gain favour with the public

Exactly this. It’s reprehensible. To the foreign press, the footage makes it look like they’re popular with the masses. The reality is that only a bunch of complete fanatical weirdos turn up and William and Kate allow their young children to be manhandled by them. Disgraceful.

SpinningaCompass · 27/12/2025 18:57

WTF people spend their hard earned money on some of the wealthiest, most privileged children on earth due to accident of birth that they don't even know is mind-boggling.

This. It would save their staff the hassle of having to deal with the hoards of gifts that they receive.

Atsocta · 27/12/2025 19:09

Definitely not, their spoiled enough

Rednotdead · 27/12/2025 19:13

Hell no, but then I wouldn’t go to Sandringham to see them arrive/depart from their church service either

canuckup · 27/12/2025 19:28

Nope. Other children are far more in need

lifeonmars100 · 27/12/2025 20:09

look at this lot outside the hospital when Louis was due

RainbowBagels · 27/12/2025 21:29

Blimey the guy playing a bugle outside a hospital maternity unit! What do they think its happening in there? Ffs! Certfiable. The lot of them. All the fuss when Meghan didnt do the steps thing when Archie was born. None of them should be doing it. Its horrific, and the RF encourage it. Presumably because they love being fawned over by nutters.

annemac101 · 27/12/2025 22:15

I was thinking the same thing when watching it on the news. Why would you give children who have everything and far more than any of us a gift? Very strange . Why would you go and watch them going to church on Christmas Day. I doubt if the children would even want to keep these soft toys , security would be very aware that someone malicious could be handing them something dangerous .

Completely agree

Delphiniumandlupins · 27/12/2025 22:56

I guess holding a present means someone has to take it from you, so (if you're a royalist) you get the attention you crave.

yes if i was there, its the symbolic gesture that counts

FrightfulNightfull · 27/12/2025 23:42

Nobody wants their child to receive gifts from unknown people.. if they are sane.
I don’t want anyone giving my child (who often fits the stereotype of being in need by virtue of being severely disabled) a soft toy or shit chocolates or whatever these.people daydream a prince or princess might want - it’s absolutely foul that the current royal people allow this, knowing full well that they are forcing their children to fake smile and appease the masses (because there’s absolutely no way those children can have anything given to them by strangers) and carry on a stupid farcical “engagement “ with the public.
I highly doubt the Wales family believe in the church and they’d rather be at home or at least go to church unseen and unnoticed.
And if any of them had an ounce of genuine spirit they’d stop shit like this happening, protect their children and do more than be mouthpieces for the occasional charity.

HeddaGarbled · 27/12/2025 23:51

And if any of them had an ounce of genuine spirit they’d stop shit like this happening

Come on, you know darn well they’d be vilified if they didn’t dance to the public’s tune.

They’re our performing monkeys and we reward them with lots of money.

Dagda · 28/12/2025 01:00

I can understand wanting to see them if you are a royalist. I can’t understand the gifts thing at all, sure they couldn’t keep them. And the hugging and selfies was a bit horrifying. I’d hate some strangers touching and fawning over my children like that. Clearly William and Kate are so indoctrinated into the tradition of it that they can’t see how weird it is. I felt sorry for the kids watching it. Being indoctrinated themselves into thinking that it is necessary to placate these weirdos who seem to think they have some kind of ownership over them.

there are no other celebrity children who are treated like this.

pestowithwalnuts · 28/12/2025 04:21

I saw a clip where a reporter for the news was chatting to two American women who had camped out over night .
Each to his own but FFS ..
I find it cringing when they give gifts to the rf.. surely they know that they will be passed on.

Excellentvintage · 28/12/2025 07:14

Are the gifts 'security checked'? Anything could have been placed in them and they just seem to be handed over to the royal children.

Absolutely batshit. I agree. And my guess is that all the gifts are given to the local homeless charity or children's hospital. What do the richest children on the planet want with a Cadbury selection pack? 🙄

Run30 · 28/12/2025 07:43

They don’t keep any of it. It all gets passed on to worthy causes.

I wondered this. No way will Louis be allowed to eat that massive Lindt chocolate he had. Anyone could have injected rat poison into it.
