Would you have got the Royal children a gift.

If I had been at Sandringham I would not have given the Royal children a gift as they get a lot of gifts anyway. Really they should have taken tubs of sweets and offered them to local children. That way they would have been polite.

Well I would not be standing out waiting for strangers to defer to in the first place. I bet the kids love a bit of the cheap chocolates that the peasants bestow on them though!

They won't be allowed to eat anything that was handed to them by weirdo strangers!

HollyhockDays · 26/12/2025 13:01

I assume they don’t get to keep them. As a pp said it’s too much of a risk.

If I were William I would knock this on the head once I was king. Let them walk and be filmed but not a public event.

overmyherd · 26/12/2025 13:01

No I wouldn’t, I also wouldn’t let my kids accept gifts of strangers. I do find it all really weird.

Seems it’s good enough to pass on to the plebs, though 😁

Good god I thought exactly the same as this, what absolute morons spend their Christmas Day going to gawp at the Royals?
Honestly some people are tapped in the head!
regarding gifts I would presume that they take them and say thank you but don’t keep them, they are probably donated.

There's three sorts of folk who do that. The people who live in Sandringham and who were going to their local parish church for the Christmas morning service anyway, a few genuine royalists, and a huge cohort of paparazzi who would camp out overnight to film the opening of an envelope.

Would I give presents to the Royal children? Not unless I know them personally, which I don't.

EchoedSilence · 26/12/2025 13:03

The Royals should use some of their obscene wealth to give gifts to the ones in need.

I can certainly think of far more worthy occupants of the “cottage” on the estate that has been offered to AMW. Shelter, Crisis, sure there are local ones, too.

awrbc81 · 26/12/2025 13:06

No because it’s weird and they don’t keep the gifts anyway, I would think they’d be donated to charities- so might as well donate directly instead

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2025 12:50

I’m even more cynical because I wouldn’t want my kids being given anything by strangers. Could be anything.

I always think this when I see the kids accepting stuff from the people who are waiting for them. I actually think there should be a blanket rule that they don’t accept anything from anyone - a true Royal fan would accept that, if they put out a statement in advance.

Don’t be silly. He loves it.

Better still a statement asking their worshippers to give to charities instead.

They do. Nearly all of them are Patrons of numerous charities and use their power and influence in that way. In any case, their 'obscene wealth' (as you put it) largely doesn't belong to them personally, it belongs to the State.

What did you personally do for those in need this Christmas, the season of giving?

ThisJadeBear · 26/12/2025 13:09

I like assume the lot must get binned anyway.
Yesterday W&C’s three were called over by a woman who asked to speak to George and was telling him his much ‘Granny Diana’ would be proud of him whilst ignoring the other two.
He was very gracious but it made me cringe. Yes, I like the RF and was a huge Diana fan but the kids never knew her.
Nearly as bad as when Diana died and the family finally came out to meet the public. Women saying ‘look after the boys, ma’am’ to the late Queen. Toe-curling. Like she needed to be told by Edna of Epping that her own grandkids might need a bit of care.

That would be weird - distributing sweets to povs. Also they are going to church with their family, not on a walkabout, they are kids.

They don't keep anything given to them.

I always think it's very odd people go to gawp at them, rather than having their own Christmases.

HeartyBlueRobin · 26/12/2025 13:12

Im pretty sure all the people at these events are vetted before passing through security and none of the gifts are kept by the Royal Family.

threesocksmorgan · 26/12/2025 13:15

no
but then I don't think the royal kids should be mingling with strangers.

Thewovenform98 · 26/12/2025 13:15

sofiamofia · 26/12/2025 12:50

No I wouldn't have gotten them a gift but neither would I have stood out to watch them go to church.

There should be a rule that the children don't have to hug strangers. There is a video of a woman with her arms out to Charlotte and she gives her a hug. All the comments are nonsensical "so caring, just like her grandmother Diana" ones. Em, no, young child doesn't know she can refuse a hug from random creepy stranger and neither her parents or security helped her.

Totally agree with this. As a Republican, I think I treat the RF with way more respect than their fans do!

I was even cringing at the clip where someone asked Charlotte to do a selfie. They said it nicely but no way should you be asking a child who doesn’t know you to stand close by and take a photo with you while at least two other members of the crowd use the opportunity to stick cameras in the child’s face.

Appalling behaviour by so called monarchists.

I do plenty. I'm not a millionaire living in vast palaces while people are living on the streets though.

Biscuits4 · 26/12/2025 13:18

No. They are from a large family and will have family friends, so I'm sure they get a reasonable amount.

They still come across as raving nutters though.

And there’s the ‘Mrs Marsh, of Cambs’ types, banging on about blood princesses and ‘the wonderful girls’ of the York family. Beatrice is a 37 year old grifter, love. She has a penchant for Middle Eastern businessmen’s money. Eugenie is 35 and a two-faced rude snob who’s mates with Piers Morgan.

Charles’s shitty judgement strikes again.

Iamafaithfull · 26/12/2025 13:20

It is a bit crazy and I also always think of those that camp out when a royal baby is due to be born . Those that send wedding / christening gifts to them .
Madness , you can understand why the journalists do it as it is part of their job .
I do find it creepy and also those who follow obsessively follow their favourite star /band etc and also try and interact with them frequently . There is a fine line between being an obsessed fan / ardent royalist and being a stalker and obviously some people do cross that line …
Prince William ‘s family / Duke of Edinburgh is one of the richest in the UK . I would much rather they encouraged people to spend this money on food banks etc . I know that they do this anyway and part of their role is public relations .

It is still jarring for me to see the optics . I particularly hated the royal optics during Covid lockdowns when the local park equipment was taped off , barring children from playing on them . Including those children who lived without access to gardens . I remember a photo of Prince William’s family in a flower filled field from their vast estate in Norfolk .

Because they forgot my birthday. 😡

😂 bastards!
Liz did remember my grandads once but then he was turning 💯.

lifeonmars100 · 26/12/2025 13:20

I am bewildered by the mentality of the people who stand around in the cold on Christmas Day to gawp at the Royals all dressed in outfits that undoubtedly cost thousands and then offer the kids presents! There is something medieval about it, the grining metaphorical forelock tugging crowd looking thrilled as Charlie and Co go strolling by. I am sure W and K have primed the kids to accept a few gifts and to smile graciously, it all helps to prop the Firm up. Why not give directly to charity or donate to your local food bank rather than going through this charade.

LiveLuvLaugh · 26/12/2025 13:21

@sofiamofiaspot on, I think people that want to hug children they don’t know are wrong. Handshake max physical contact. Terrible behaviour on the part of the public.
