Would you have got the Royal children a gift.

If I had been at Sandringham I would not have given the Royal children a gift as they get a lot of gifts anyway. Really they should have taken tubs of sweets and offered them to local children. That way they would have been polite.

No

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2025 12:45

No. Why on earth would I.

Your suggestion is far more appropriate.

Clefable · 26/12/2025 12:47

No but they will get given away anyway so will most likely end up going to staff or charity.

I thought that the kids didn’t keep the gifts?

I assumed that the people who give gifts want the bragging rights that come with a royal being photographed with their flowers/gift rather than thinking that the kids need a gift because it’s Christmas. Am I too cynical?

I think that I read that flowers went to the local nursing home?

I’m even more cynical because I wouldn’t want my kids being given anything by strangers. Could be anything.

Icecreamisthebest · 26/12/2025 12:50

No I wouldn’t.

But I think the people who do get them gifts would have been offended to see their gift passed on to local children right in front of them . I would see that as rude rather than polite. The polite thing to do is to accept a gift, thank the giver and if you don’t want it then dispose of it how you see fit but without the giver being aware

youalright · 26/12/2025 12:50

No as its weird and they won't get to keep them anyway as weirdos would put camera and stuff in them

sofiamofia · 26/12/2025 12:50

No I wouldn't have gotten them a gift but neither would I have stood out to watch them go to church.

There should be a rule that the children don't have to hug strangers. There is a video of a woman with her arms out to Charlotte and she gives her a hug. All the comments are nonsensical "so caring, just like her grandmother Diana" ones. Em, no, young child doesn't know she can refuse a hug from random creepy stranger and neither her parents or security helped her.

NotDarkGothicMama · 26/12/2025 12:50

No, but then I wouldn't be schlepping out to Norfolk on Christmas Day to wave at a load of strangers in the first place. Same nutters that camped outside the hospital when the kids were born Confused

ijustreallylovebread · 26/12/2025 12:51

I would not spend my Christmas Day lining up to meet them. It’s a total farce. The working classes lining up to give the ruling classes gifts.

This.

I agree with PP - the royal kids handing out sweets would be better (if still odd) optics.

They don’t keep the gifts .,

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/12/2025 12:53

No,
Because they forgot my birthday. 😡

Zanatdy · 26/12/2025 12:54

zero point as they give them to charity anyway.

I find it really odd that they accept the gifts beyond the odd bunch of flowers
I remember William making a comment about saving a Paddington bear for George and thinking for God sake, cause he’s not got enough

Yeah one guy who was on footage talking to William he knew by name, and he later spoke to Kate. I remember his voice from the royal wedding / queen jubilee and he’s been on TV several times. Huge royalist. Not harming anyone I guess but seems a bit OTT on Christmas day in the freezing cold.

23doorsdown · 26/12/2025 12:56

Well I would not be standing out waiting for strangers to defer to in the first place. I bet the kids love a bit of the cheap chocolates that the peasants bestow on them though!

The most bizarre thing is that people aren’t forced into it today. They choose to do it, baffling!

Good god I thought exactly the same as this, what absolute morons spend their Christmas Day going to gawp at the Royals?
Honestly some people are tapped in the head!
regarding gifts I would presume that they take them and say thank you but don’t keep them, they are probably donated.

ohidoliketobe · 26/12/2025 12:59

No, it's so odd. From a security perspective the kids wont be allowed to have the chocolates, or even for them to be passed on.
I really do wonder what goes through these people's heads, do they think they'll get an invite to dinner?
If they really want to make a child's Christmas they would donate to a local charity, not give a family who aren't short of a few quid things they wont be allowed to keep anyway.
