How about Terry Pratchett or Cressida Cowell? I met her once at a signing and she happily talked books and inspiration with my daughter and did her a special sketch in her copy of the book she bought.

A lot of people seem to rate DW for reluctant readers - for anyone looking for alternatives the Treehouse book series (13 story treehouse and its many sequels) is great for kids who aren’t natural bookworms. As are the many Tom Gates books and books by Pamela Butchart.

On the comic/graphic novels side, endlessly popular are the Dogman books, Bunny vs Monkey and Donut Squad.

All of these have heaps of silly humour that is likely to appeal to children who like DW and are very accessibly written.

What the actual fuck? So now you are accusing his sister? Absolutely vile.

Obviously we cannot not what happened, if anything, and should not speculate.

There are documented cases of older sisters abusing younger brothers. It's much less common, but it does exist.
It's not absolute, but in general, abuse tends to be by the older child. The Brook Traffic Light Tool is helpful on this.

Identifying / Preventing Problematic & Harmful Sexual Behaviour - Plymouth Safeguarding Children Partnership

Displaying problematic or harmful sexual behaviour is most commonly a symptom of the child’s own trauma or experiences of abuse and this needn’t be their life story. As professionals we have a duty to identify, respond and support the child to stop and...

I don't understand why you are posting this? As some kind of evidence? I'm not denying this happens, I'm simply saying nobody should be accusing an individual of this with no evidence. There is no evidence.

Thanks for this. Like everything horrific, I want to know why. Is it a lot of education?

The article I read a while ago, and then I listened to some of the SiblingsToo podcast.

From what I remember, red flags would be inappropriate sexual knowledge in an older child (one boy got ideas from porn magazines he saw, which would be internet now 😢), bad parental sexual boundaries, lack of privacy (eg. Cosleeping after a young age, cobathing etc), older siblings being made to supervise younger ones for long periods with no adult around.

I agree we should definitely not discuss individuals. I just wanted to clarify that female perpetration is possible, just much rarer. I think I misunderstood your post as shock at suggestion of female perpetration, but I see you were referring to privacy of individuals, which I completely agree on. I apologise for the misunderstanding, this is a very emotive topic and it's easy to misunderstand...

My posts are not easy to misunderstand at all.

Is it the one who proclaimed that women cannot enjoy sex? The one who is, quote, a stupid person's idea of a smart person? Whose husband has a thousand yard stare like the survivors of D-Day?

I have no idea who this is

Unless I've misunderstood, I'm pretty sure that's not who the national treasure is. It has something to do with a gliding club.

Hmm...Mirren did play up her sexual appeal with stuff like Caligula but most of her early films were not like that.

Plus she was primarily acting in RSC at the time which surely wasn't having nude stage productions!

I’m pretty certain that she was briefly nude as Cressida in a 1960s production of Troilus and Cressida at Stratford.

Not him, they’re referring to David Jason, but Stephen Fry is pretty dodgy in his own right when you look at what he said about abuse victims and how all of his favourite writers seem to be extremely dodgy and abusive men.

Ah right, my mistake. I see she was also nude in her debut film Age of Consent in 1960s.
How was it legal to be nude on stage? I'm surprised!

Agree nudity was part of her public image but it wasn't the only basis for her fame/career. After all a lot of her later & best work like The Queen or Prime Suspect hasn't really relied on sexuality. She did some great BBC work in the 1970s (Shaw, Dennis Potter, Titania, Rosalind etc) which doesn't feature any nakedness either.

David Jason doesn't have a husband

I know someone asked if a previous poster was referring to someone with a husband. They weren’t.

PodMom · 21/12/2025 21:12

It’s definitely legal to be nude on stage. Years ago I saw a play and some continuation street actress was completely naked and then iirc a male actor got his willy out for a bit on stage as well. The Blue Room?

It was the 1960s! Nudity was becoming rather popular on stage. Hair (the musical) opened in London in 1968 (the year before I did my O levels).

Whether the so-called counterculture was a good thing or not is debatable. It may be why we’re in such a state now. I certainly approved at the time, but then I was only 15.

Carla786 · 21/12/2025 17:33

A bit like many Ancient Roman men?

Also Ancient Greeks. Pederasty - summed up in the phrase, 'boys for pleasure, women for children' - was socially acceptable in many ancient cultures. Whichever lens you look through, it was an abuse of power then, and is most certainly abusive now.
And DW is a slimy, obnoxious creep.

Sean Lock was right on the money with the "pink minstrel" comment. (And he had Russell Brand's number too.)

There was a band in the mid-2010s called PWR BTTM, who were promoted as "unapologetically queer". They split up because of several accusations that one of the members (a male "they/them") had sexually assaulted women. The whole "queer" thing was apparently a way to lower women's boundaries. I wonder if David Walliams's camp persona was a similar deal.

Yes Sean Lock was one of the good ones.

Walliams is odious. There have been rumours about him for years. Presumably Harper Collins has some new management and some lawyers who have decide d he is not worth the potential liability.

Lots of unsavoury remarks elsewhere about Fry online.

About the only thing I notice with male celebrities who latterly have problems with sexual harassment is the amount of time they spend discussing sex or no consent and then suddenly later, it’s an amazing surprise that they are predatory. Tbh most well adjusted people don’t really do that, do they?

I got the sense he married her because she was a prize - he was punching well above his weight and it did wonders for his ego.

She was probably love bombed and treated like a princess when they met because he did worship her. Then they married and he felt he now owned her so didn't have to make the effort. But still expected her to put in the effort to the relationship.

The fun for him was all in the chase because that's the ego boost, so he had to continue that because it's like an addiction to him. That left her almost surplus to his requirements, especially after she had a baby, and he was no longer the centre of her attention and he actually would need to put some effort into the family rather than being a self centered prick (noting the split comes about 18 months after baby is born).

Do we know all this for sure though ?.🤔

We did Hair as a A-Level production! Yes, with the nudity!
