Yes because Jesus is his lookie-likey and reminds Russell of his most handsome self.

I mean i actually think he thinks he is Jesus, odious man is he still avoiding arrest?

The cover-ups is what always makes me so angry. There had been rumours about him for years yet again TV companies, publishers and media just turned a blind eye or it seems in case of his former publisher just paid off staff after complains.

It is always the same story: famous/wealthy predators thrive because the money they bring in is more important than the people they abuse.

Agree, we can't just be angry at Walliams

This is about massive cover-ups by big powerful organisations

There's another one elderly now who will be a shock to many not in the know. He's been knighted is beloved by millions. I don't know if it will even come out when he's dead but friends daughter who once worked for the BBC said much is known inside the industry that is protected. By ITV too.

Oh who ? Give us a clue. If it's known in the industry, ...I mean really common knowledge as you are suggesting ....we general public ought to know too. It's not on that they keep these things from us and we blindly go on supporting creeps.

JumpingJiminy · 20/12/2025 11:00

I'm most angry at organisations such as the BBC who seem to go out of their way to protect abusers.

Publishers and everyone else don't care what their authors do as long as they're making money for them. Walliams' sales had dropped 60% this year, so they probably thought it was an okay time to drop him.

The whole thing just stinks.

And I've heard things about DJ but his big show still makes money so no one's going to say anything to affect profits are they?

Ive said this before on here. A lot of TV types are awful. I used to know socially a very well known actor who is really loved and has a public profile as a terrific guy. Im making no suggestion of anything sexually creepy or dangerous. It wasnt anything like that. But just that he was absolutely horrible in real life and not remotely like his public self. Im not going to.name him but he' s sneery and sarky and totally 2 faced, and only interested in people who can do something for his career. But you'd think he was amazing from his TV work and appearances. Everybody loves him. You just cant tell what someone's really like in the entertainment industry!!

Gawd can't you give a couple of very obscure clues? Pleeeeese? 🤣🤣

I reckon I can give a few clues to the two men mentioned in the thread. The old one who's a national treasure probably likes winter mornings and the frost. The one above I think is scottish

I know for definite he’s a sexual deviant.

You can't just say that and not give us more details.

Thank you!! Oh no if it's the one who might sometimes live in a building named after an African political leader?

My mum loves him! 🤣🙁

The Scottish one I'm racking my brains...

No definitely not Scottish.

Years ago I had to ghostwrite a biography for one of these two national treasures, because the biographer couldn't be bothered to write it. I was very young and naive, stunned at all the nasty details when I read through the colossal notes about this man. It was clear he was an absolute shit. I had to tone everything down, as instructed, so that the biography wasn't libellous.

Some problematic views? He was a Nazi-sympathiser! Come on now…
Yes his books are classics, but also contain some vile characters. His estate recently apologised on his behalf.

If you read his adult stories his misogyny was pretty disgusting too. My Uncle Oswald, The Great Switcheroo etc. Treated his wife like shit, had an affair with her friend who he later married.

habin · 20/12/2025 11:43

on the subject of national treasures, I used to work for one, years ago. Their reputation was that of beloved national treasure. I can categorically state that they were and still are a complete and utter cunt.

Scoffingbiscuits · 20/12/2025 11:47

How do these people keep their reputations in the age of social media?

I think it is whoever is around them tbh, and maybe how much money and influence they have.

Beachtastic · 20/12/2025 11:49

The thread title shows in my list as "David Walliams dropped by pub..."

I was hoping you'd had some random encounter with him OP and could spill the beans!

The "Public image" section of his Wiki entry doesn't pull any punches, the whole mess of his career trajectory is like a hand grenade with the pin taken out.

It's looking like the Murdoch media may have done more than just turn a blind eye.

What's described on this thread is an active cover-up using the power of the Murdoch titles to protect an author in the Murdoch publishing house.

Of course we need to see if this turns out to be true. But it's reminding me of that ultra-powerful PR agent Max Clifford and the way he and his pals in the press would choose what news we did and didn't get to hear – covering everyone from minor slebs to prime ministers.

Whattodoo8 · 20/12/2025 11:54

I’ve been boycotting his books for years because he was clearly a creep. And his books are reductive and a bit problematic.

Good for Harper Collins. I hope no one else publishes him and his books dwindle into nothing.

Let another author - a non creep - have a go.

Isittimeformynapyet · 20/12/2025 11:57

LlynTegid · 20/12/2025 09:43

The publisher would not have taken the decision without evidence, given David Walliams presumably can afford to sue.

If they've chosen not to renew a contract that's now expired then there'll be nothing to sue over.

I've heard no mention of HC breaking a contract.

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 20/12/2025 11:57

God that Wiki entry is so depressing. Not one single comment about the derogatory view of women in Little Britain. Why is 'woman face' OK? And why are women not allowed to be offended by it?

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/12/2025 12:01

Meanwhile he’s staying at a £5k a night hotel in the Maldives. He’ll be fine 😵‍💫

PerkingFaintly · 20/12/2025 12:01

And in fact this has stirred a memory from 1998 when Murdoch ordered Harper-Collins to can a book about Hong Kong – to appease the Chinese government for the sake of Murdoch's business interests in China.

The book was East and West by Chris Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, and was eventually published by Macmillan.

I just wonder if maybe he was just always a bit of a weirdo and he tried to cover it up by being either smutty or by camping it up. Maybe he thought if people were drawn to the fact he was being camp or near the mark then maybe they wouldnt notice he was actually just weird and awkward.

Another man using a woman as his beard.
There should be a law against this kind of exploitation and abuse of women.
They are the worst kind of misogynist.

sparrowhawkhere · 20/12/2025 12:11

I’ve said this before we watched the Little Britain tour when they were in their heyday and met them. Matt Lucas was so friendly and genuine, both times we met David Walliams he was dismissive, seemed very irritated by the fans (bearing in mind we met him twice during the tour). I was so disappointed as we were big fans of the show.
