Over inappropriate behaviour towards women. Anyone surprised?

Another man using a woman as his beard.
There should be a law against this kind of exploitation and abuse of women.
They are the worst kind of misogynist.

Yeah when i was online dating I met a couple of guys in their 40s who I suspected were gay and looking for a woman to have their children.

I didn’t even get the impression they came from families where their sexuality or being with a man wouldn’t be accepted, it’s just that they wanted to have a child.

It would have destroyed me if I had got with men like that. It’s such a cruel thing to do and I’m just glad I didn’t fall for it.

People are always so quick to trot out the excuses for these men and blame “society” but in many cases it’s just pure selfishness. I have an uncle who I suspect is gay and he lives in a society/country that doesn’t accept homosexuality.

He has been single his whole life, and he’s now 80. I have massive respect for him because I know a lot of his female friends and women in his church wanted to marry him in his younger days. He could have easily done that for an “easy” life.

I have my personal issues with him , but one thing I have always said is he’s not a misogynist and actually speaks out against men like that and has respect for his female friends and relatives which is probably why he didn’t just see women as tools to use to make himself look more societally acceptable.

I agree.
I have two male cousins who came out in the eighties when it was really difficult to do with the Aids crisis. They have never pretended to be interested in women and have long-term partners.

Some gay men want it all and will happily abuse women to achieve this. These men utterly despise women and think they are gullible fools who deserve to be used by men.

Easytoconfuse · 20/12/2025 12:33

The BBC are currently showing 2 of his adaptations and an appearance on some sort of show over Christmas. Anyone betting how long before they're pulled? I'm also taking side bets on how long it'll be before they run out of programming at the rate they're pulling programmes.

Aussiesgettingsmashed · 20/12/2025 12:39

He is going to be on the Would I lie to you? Christmas special which was filmed a while ago. Wonder if the beeb are considering obscuring his face with a big black dot.

Yup. I know a few onviously gay men who married women and had children, then left, proclaiming they couldn't live a lie any more. All the friends and family applaud said gay man for finally 'living his authentic life' meanwhile, the wife's life is totally fucked and nobody gives a shit about her, as long as he is finally living his authentic life, that's all that seems to matter.

Well, colour me amazed.

Good for HarperCollins.

Not good that they have ignored the rumours for years.

Moretwirlsandswirls · 20/12/2025 12:50

He actually reminds me of Saville. He’s got that hard, creepy, untouchable vibe about him, an unnerving look in his eye-challenging, if you know what I mean.

doublec · 20/12/2025 12:50

Easily one of the sleaziest men I have ever encountered. He's also the reason why I stopped wearing anything remotely low cut at work (and pretty much in my personal life too). Gay? Straight? Bisexual? I have no idea. However, what I do know is the man is obsessed with breasts and staring at breasts to the point that I had to remove myself from the room we were in. I even left the building, and he followed me outside to continue to leer.

Gross.

I suspect that will end up getting pulled.

They've pulled "Mandy" with no apparent reason. Wouldn't be surprised if Walliams was appearing in it 🤔

You can absolutely tell that he is one of those men who completely gets off on making women feel vulnerable and deeply uncomfortable / frightened. How much longer is this sort is shit going to be tolerated? Power mad, sleazy men enabled by the rest of the Patriarchy eh?

I meant to say, that sounds bloody awful for you by the way and I'm sorry that you had to put up with it and (presumably) nobody came to your aid / commented / did anything about it.

PinkPanther57 · 20/12/2025 12:56

There’s apparently a famous children’s writer who everyone in industry knows used/uses a ghost writer. I wonder if him?

Challenging. Yes, that's exactly it! Knowing that nobody apparently will. Terrifying.

I have often wondered this myself! I literally do not understand how he has become so famous - he was a glorified panto actor in Little Britain, then somehow his shitty ghostwritten booked ended up everywhere.

I have never met anyone who says their kids like them, so who is actually buying them?

Edited

I was given his books as an idea for my nephew just last night, sadly no other ideas for nephew. I have always disliked Walliams but was planning to buy secondhand, now I don't even feel comfortable doing that 🙁

My DD quite liked his books when she qas younger too, i always stopped her buying them in bookshops

Not good that they have ignored the rumours for years.

They didn't ignore rumours, they ignored abusive behaviour towards their staff.

Radio 2 news have just announced they won't be dropping any programmes featuring DW over Christmas.

The BBC are odious, they must be the biggest broadcaster complicit in every one of these abusers.

He seems untouchable!

Now that is what I call brave - not lying to a woman for decades and letting her have your children then coming out in middle age and dancing out to find your happiness while she’s left alone with severe trust issues.

The bottom line is you either come out or you don’t, but choosing to hide behind women and ruin their lives is not a legitimate option.

Indeed it really is a case of they want it all and don’t care which women are used in the process.

Dontfencemein · 20/12/2025 13:17

I feel slightly sick reading about the fact that the producer of Britain’s Got Talent had to settle and apologise to him, after vile comments he made about a contestant were leaked. He has clearly got very good lawyers.

Few of the rest of us would be able to speak like that in the workplace and come out on top.

As for his books, a pastiche of Roald Dahl but with the sneering, cruel “humour” that comes out in most of his work.

Years ago I had to ghostwrite a biography for one of these two national treasures, because the biographer couldn't be bothered to write it. I was very young and naive, stunned at all the nasty details when I read through the colossal notes about this man. It was clear he was an absolute shit. I had to tone everything down, as instructed, so that the biography wasn't libellous.

Is this a biography of the knighted fellow?

NCearlymitford · 20/12/2025 13:25

There's still time for programmes he's in to be pulled from the schedules - there may be more allegations to come...

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/12/2025 13:26

Quelle surprise. Not.

No idea why it took so long.

They didn't ignore rumours, they ignored abusive behaviour towards their staff.

And paid them off in some cases. And warned junior staff not to be alone with him. So actively enabled him, in other words, rather than just ignoring the abuse.

How long before he is sporting his own synthetic estrogen-induced moobs like so many other middle-aged men with a fetish?

Known what?

About his behaviour towards young women. Not going to expand here but it’s an open secret. He’s seriously litigious hence it not coming to light before and I doubt the full truth will ever come out.

The former head of Harper Collins left mysteriously in October… and now this…

Agree more is about to come out

Only thing surprises me is how he's been allowed to get away with it for so long

So glad things are finally improving, when I think back to the things I and other women were expected to laugh off
I'm so cross

Glad this, kind of thing is becoming more and more frowned upon and not tolerated
