Please can someone explain the attraction / obsession with this young man? I just don’t get it?!

I just saw him interviewed and he seems really nice. Kind of gentle, classy,
mysterious type.

Egglio · 18/12/2025 19:17

I agree OP. I don't get it, but maybe I'm too old!

gogomomo2 · 18/12/2025 19:19

He seemed very bright, interesting and crucially interested in others on Graham Norton

everdine · 18/12/2025 19:19

He is half French and is fluent in French. He did an interview on French TV in French to promote Call Me By My Name.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/12/2025 19:19

He was all wrong as Laurie in Little Women

LindaMcCartney · 18/12/2025 19:20

He was absolutey superb playing Bob Dylan, it must have taken a lot of research on his part to play someone that was basically a historical character for him, and a true music legend, big boots to fill, and I understand he learned guitar too, I think he’s lovely ❤️

racoonsinbins · 18/12/2025 19:20

He was excellent as Bob Dylan

This!

FedUpWithDilemmas · 18/12/2025 19:21

I don’t know much about him, but he looks so much more interesting than the usual carbon copy celebrities

Motnight · 18/12/2025 19:21

He was indeed surprisingly good as Bob Dylan.

Screamingabdabz · 18/12/2025 19:21

I think he has rizz in real life but he just looks like a 12 year old kid to me in films. Same as Leo DiCaprio when his star was on the rise. Boy-men do nothing for me as characters in films. They ruin it.

OrangeAxolotyl · 18/12/2025 19:21

Nor me. I can't see the appeal, but I'm old so I asked my daughter and she doesn't get it either!
Who knows.
Then again I never understood the appeal of Leonardo di Caprio, he just looks like a young Norman Lamont.

mysodapop · 18/12/2025 19:22

Gorgeous in Dune, I thought (not a fan of the neerw 70s mustachio pimp look tho but tbf every 20 something young male in London looks the same at the moment)

MayaPinion · 18/12/2025 19:23

Nope, I don’t get it either, but don’t think I’m the target demographic. He is a leading member of the genre of handsomeness known as ‘hot rodent’.

LindaMcCartney · 18/12/2025 19:25

Hot rodent is quite mean i think

BusySittingDown · 18/12/2025 19:30

I think he seems absolutely lovely in interviews. I was going to say that I don't fancy him as I thought he was half my age but I've just googled and he's actually not! 😂 He's12 years younger, so still too young but I thought he was about 22!

LegoWig · 18/12/2025 19:32

What’s the point of these threads other than to slag off a celebrity? I don’t have strong feelings about him either way but he does seem like a lovely young man and a very good actor.

It’s just inviting people to be unnecessarily unpleasant about someone they don’t know from a bar of soap.

Theharmlessone · 18/12/2025 19:35

Decent actor and very likeable on Graham Norton. Kylie Jenner obviously likes him too!

BusySittingDown · 18/12/2025 19:38

Btw, I love these threads where people say how unattractive they find a celebrity and are baffled as to why others may find them so.

Beauty is subjective, eh? Who knew?

Timothee, if you're reading...I hope you're not too devastated that some of Mumsnet don't find you attractive 🙄.

LindaMcCartney · 18/12/2025 19:39

He is a great new young actor who hopefully will have a great career in front of him, he will mature like Robert Downey jr and Robert de Niro as he has already proved that he has exceptional talent. He deserves every success

champagnetrial · 18/12/2025 19:42

I'm not being disingenuous, but I genuinely don't understand your question. He's a really good actor and he is currently promoting a film, so you will see him being interviewed on TV as the press junket dictates.

I think for his latest film there is an unconventional launch, including a promo video and sometimes he interviews in character. So yes, at the moment you are probably seeing a lot of him if you watch talk shows for eg.

I mean, he is a talented young man and is good box office, so I guess the 'attraction' or 'obsession' to bookers of TV programmes is: someone who is really really good at their job and able to articulate it, so a safe bet for a talk show?

upinaballoon · 18/12/2025 19:42

I liked him as Laurie, except that I am used to imagining Laurie to be larger, taller. His face was easily as right for Laurie as anyone else has been. I liked him as Bob Dylan. Today(?) or yesterday I saw him talking on TV and he seems to have a pleasant gravitas.

1457bloom · 18/12/2025 19:42

He was great in Wonka.

xmasstress12 · 18/12/2025 19:44

Hes a fairly good actor & comes across as intelligent so people love him! Physically not my type and not sure about the Ali G inspired dressing recently but he’s still a kid.
