I am going to Waitrose tomorrow. Is there anything you recommend that's different from other supermarkets.
I believe it's quite a large store so hopefully it is well stocked.

The fresh pretzels- much better than Lidl.

Anything Ottolenghi in a small pot.

coolcahuna · 11/12/2025 07:45

Not exclusive to them but they have a great range of Treacle Moon shower gels that I really like.

Their cinnamon knots are addictive. I should never have given them a chance

The Co op sell them too!

Owly11 · 11/12/2025 07:52

Following as I am also doing a waitrose shop soon!

The Meat

This

Our Waitrose has a 'cabinet of death' (as my family know the meat ageing cabinet). We always find ourselves drawn to it.

Rather more prosaically, their frozen sprouts are better than anyone else's.

I have a £50 JL voucher (award from work) to use. DH and I are going in this weekend to spend it.

Hdpr · 11/12/2025 08:01

All of it but especially the No 1 range

Rocknrollstar · 11/12/2025 08:05

Limoncello mince pies

Why did you have to go and mention these?! I’ve been trying my best to not give in to the addiction!!

No. 1 Albacore tuna in olive oil - just as good as other premium brands but less expensive

No.1 Albacore Tuna in Extra Virgin Olive Oil | Waitrose & Partners

BreezyPeachGoose · 11/12/2025 08:19

Ask one of their staff where an item is and they'll personally take you to it, rather than just point and say "over there somewhere".

People watch the clientele and judgmentally compare against those at your usual supermarket.

If your an adult, take one of your parents along and park in the "child & parent" bay.

Take your mug and have a free coffee.

Drop of your dry cleaning.

Watch 1001 near misses in the car park.

MotherOfCatBoy · 11/12/2025 08:22

Their organic range is wider than any other supermarket, that’s what we love.
Also they do local supplier bread. In S Wales we get Alex Gooch organic sourdough - god it’s gorgeous. Crusty, full of flavour, soft but with texture.
Not sure what they do in other areas but they might also have similar from local suppliers?

Own brand Essential tonic in cans. It disappeared at the start of COVID and only came back a few months ago. It's much cheaper than Fever Tree and 200 ml instead of the piddly 150 ml FT cans and nice and fizzy, unlike anything in a plastic or glass bottle. No artificial sweeteners unlike just about every other tonic water brand out there.

I'm going tomorrow as to get some tonic as I'm passing by, as I also don't have a convenient branch and I was only really going to buy that as I'm on a self imposed food buying ban due to having too much in stock that I'm trying to use up, but on the back of this thread I'm almost certainly going to be getting a few new things to try.

I also like the microwave pilau rice packs, Cornish Yarg and Truffle Brie off the cheese counter, Sushi from the Sushi Daily counter and a lot of the things already mentioned.

Unfortunately I don't have a pet teenager I can put to work there for the discount.

Dymaxion · 11/12/2025 08:34

@NellyTimes I was going to mention the mustard piccalilli , to go with it their essentials mature cheddar is great, proper cheese, not the rubbery stuff like in other supermarkets and 750g for £5.

VillaDiodati · 11/12/2025 08:38

frenella · 11/12/2025 02:19

Oh my goodness, this is not the thread to be on if you live abroad - I'm so jealous!

We live in Bahrain and our local store has quite a wide range of Waitrose own brand products. Sat in bed devouring their yummy ginger biscuits as I type!

Bjorkdidit · 11/12/2025 08:45

I've also seen similar in Marsalforn on Gozo @VillaDiodati. I don't know how far this extends but definitely worth a google.

For the OP, each Christmas they also do a £10 fine wines offer, which is worth a look:

Thank you so much for everyones suggestions.
The reason I'm going is we are taking our son for a small operation.
It's on his foot so won't be able to drive after.
We don't want to hang around the hospital so off to Waitrose we go.

Ooh i love the frozen chocolate raspberries & the standard cheddar is great. The chicken kyiv & prawn pizza are fab
Dont forget you coffee cups & sign into the Waitrose app before you go
Hope the op goes well

Strawberrygingerbread · 11/12/2025 09:26

Their pain au chocolat. They are huge!

DuchessofStaffordshire · 11/12/2025 07:04

We occasionally go for their 'dine in' deal. Their No.1 parmesan and truffle chicken kievs are gorgeous and very generous.
I tend to use Waitrose for specific ingredients that I can't get elsewhere. Spice blends etc. Their selection of ice creams and other puddings is fab. I also grab tins of their essential artichoke hearts (I know!) for a baked artichoke and parmesan dip that I make.

Essential artichoke hearts just sum up waitrose in 3 words 😂

This Waitrose is nearly an hour's drive.

Then I wouldn't bother.

We shop in both Sainsburys and Waitrose. Branches of both are within a mile of our house. Sainsburys is noticeably better than Waitrose.

Just like John Lewis, Waitrose is not half as good as it thinks it is...

mackerella · 11/12/2025 09:45

I love the No. 1 Greek yoghurt, which has become my standard breakfast now with buts, seeds and honey.

The cheese counter is good, especially Kaltbach and Tomme de Savoie.

I am addicted to the French-style curry blend (previously called Vadouvan curry powder), which is a really lovely, well-balanced, mild blend. We use it to make a dip for Crosta and Mollica Bolli crackers (also available in Waitrose!) on a Friday night.

They also have a good booze range, especially if you're into sherry or aperitifs. I discovered the various Lustau vermouths in there.

Yes also to the brown butter mince pies and cinnamon knots!

I realised I was doing peak Waitrose when I phoned my H to say I couldn’t find a waxed lemon at all for a recipe
