I am going to Waitrose tomorrow. Is there anything you recommend that's different from other supermarkets.
I believe it's quite a large store so hopefully it is well stocked.

Cheese and onion tear and share bread.

Augustus40 · 11/12/2025 06:23

Their own baked beans.

The chocolate florentines!

I can highly recommend the dark chocolate ginger florentines.

I think this is a Waitrose marketing employee carrying out a survey and creating a buzz

Maggiebell · 11/12/2025 06:34

Their frozen fruit flan is so delicious.

Gatekeeper · 11/12/2025 06:37

Their own brand chocolate is fab!

Sidebend · 11/12/2025 06:39

Big fan of their Ottolenghi range: the Pistachio & Sour Cherry icecream is to die for, and the Pomegranate, Rose & Lemon Harissa paste is the best harissa I have found by a long shot.

EleanorReally · 11/12/2025 06:39

essential sausages
essential baked beans
essential classic loo paper

youegg · 11/12/2025 06:41

They used to do a Heston Blumenthal for Waitrose Curry Honey Popcorn.
Sounds disgusting. Was incredible.
Not sure if they make it anymore.

PoppyFleur · 11/12/2025 06:56

Download the Waitrose app before you go as you might get a little treat as a new customer.

Do not buy the cinnamon knots unless you have any modicum of self restraint. I bought a pack to set aside for Christmas….4 packs ago. The lemoncello mince pies are also delicious. Even their Essential range of biscuits are good but their No 1 shortbread is outstanding.

For standard groceries, I rate their chicken, it’s slow reared, not pumped full of water and excellent quality and value.
Their standard range of sausages are good.
The Waitrose Davidstow Vintage cheddar is my favourite.
Their No 1 Greek yogurt is award winning and deservedly so.
Waitrose own brand mayonnaise is far superior than the leading brand at half the price. As is their salad cream.

Crosta and mollica frozen tiramisu, gelato and pastel de nata

Whatkatyforgottodo · 11/12/2025 07:00

My husband loves their no 1 Italian nduja pesto.

DuchessofStaffordshire · 11/12/2025 07:04

We occasionally go for their 'dine in' deal. Their No.1 parmesan and truffle chicken kievs are gorgeous and very generous.
I tend to use Waitrose for specific ingredients that I can't get elsewhere. Spice blends etc. Their selection of ice creams and other puddings is fab. I also grab tins of their essential artichoke hearts (I know!) for a baked artichoke and parmesan dip that I make.

I live in NZ. Fuck me I miss Waitrose….

You could be right. But it's then a good chance for me to advocate for high juice grapefruit squash with sugar. No one else sells it anymore, only the sugar free type. Please don't ever discontinue this product Waitrose 🙏

A gorgeous individual wrapped shortbread (like the size of a big brownie)
They're kept in the bakery/pastries section and absolutely divine

Well now I will have to get one of these!

EndorsingPRActice · 11/12/2025 07:19

Essential carrots, these are so much tastier than any other supermarket

I just think 'and bear with me here' it is a tad odd to ask for recommendations for what is pretty much a food shop. I would think the same if Asda,Tesco etc ...unless dietary( gluten, vegan etc)

I always think that for a split second and then I think, no, I’m going to read this, chip in with things I like and make notes of all the delicious things I’ve never spotted there and pop in on my way home form work. I have found many lovely things thanks to previous Waitrose threads.

There’s a pate in a little round tub with a black card sleeve, I can’t remember the name but is chicken liver and brandy or similar and it is the best pate I have ever tasted.

Maille Dijon mustard with honey, never spotted it anywhere else.

The crisps cooked in olive oil with Himlayan Pink salt, can’t remember what they are called but in a pale pink packet

PS get your teenagers to get p/t jobs in a waitrose...you'll both get 20% off everything except spirits

Absolutely this.
I’m a single parent and work full time. Waitrose is my nearest (like 3 mins away) large supermarket and I always used to be nipping in there and then beating myself up that I really can’t afford it. Now my 18 year old works there so we have a discount and it’s genuinely changed my life.

(very, very sadly- browsing and buying myself a treat is often a lovely Friday evening experience!)

Method have a shampoo and conditioner range exclusive to Waitrose.

They have South African plums of the variety “Flavour King” and they are amazing!!!

Oooh I love all things method. I was in Waitrose yesterday buying shampoo (nearest shop to my work), how did I not see those?! Maybe they don’t stock them. Might have to check again at lunchtime today!

That's the plan! Ten more years to go......

I live around the corner from one and as a result spend a small fortune weekly and my taste buds are thoroughly spoiled. If I didn't like my current job so darn much I would be working there myself. It's the fruit and veg for me. Nowhere else can compare.

GameOfJones · 11/12/2025 07:44

The blue and white own label wines. The Romanian pinot noir in particular is lovely, as is their prosecco.

Fresh tiramisu in the chiller cabinet. It is by far the best supermarket tiramisu and I think DH and I have tried all of them 🤣.

Any of the herbs and spices as they tend to have some things you can't easily get elsewhere.

Their cheap own brand bubble bath is also really good! I think we had pink grapefruit scent last time and it creates lots of bubbles.

Kwamitiki · 11/12/2025 07:45

It's a unique taste, but if you are wanting something unusual, they do Norwegian Brunost at the deli counter. It's incredible.

Google describe it as 'sweet and caramel-like, with a rich, creamy, fudge-like texture and a distinct tangy or nutty edge'.
