I am going to Waitrose tomorrow. Is there anything you recommend that's different from other supermarkets.
I believe it's quite a large store so hopefully it is well stocked.

DH was given some as a 'little treat'. I thought I'd gone to heaven.

Same here. They gave some to DH free as a treat and he has been buying them ever since.

Boudy · 10/12/2025 22:35

Whatever you like the look of.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 10/12/2025 22:36

Cinnamon knots 100%
and their Italian Chocolate Brittle - it’s like fancy Daim bars. One each white milk and dark. I was given some last Xmas as a gift and ate them all in a day!! Bought them for friends this year and need to go back for some for myself.

The frozen lemon meringue pie is beautiful!

Mango and passion fruit curd 🤤

Ooh yes. That too.

DarkForces · 10/12/2025 22:38

The jarred bold beans are good. We had Merchant Gourmet Smoky Black Turtle Beans recently too and they were delicious in this recipe www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/smoky-chicken-black-bean-stew

Their own brand tuna steak in oil. Nothing beats it imo (including Ortiz!)

Agree with this - it’s in olive oil and the four can pack is good value. It’s so crammed in the tin it’s hard to get out!

LydiaBucket · 10/12/2025 22:43

Picked onions with chilli and black pepper - so good but addictive!

ShaunaOfTheDead · 10/12/2025 22:43

Fresh cherry tart. Most of the patisserie offerings tbh.

bungobungobungo · 10/12/2025 22:43

Portuguese tarts from the bakery but they also have them frozen.

Ophy83 · 10/12/2025 22:49

The Angela Hartnett amaretti biscuits are fab. I am very tempted to get her panettone next

If you are hungry and they have a fresh sushi counter that is also excellent.

The waitrose magazine this month recommends lumpfish caviar served with crisps so you could try that!

berlinbaby2025 · 10/12/2025 23:04

The brown butter mince pies with cognac.

Caramelised red onion chutney.

Lemon and coriander humous.

Leckford estate rapeseed oil.

No 1 dark chocolate with Valencia orange ganache.

IsItTimeToRetireYet · 10/12/2025 23:06

The lebkuchen biscuit box, so good I could eat the lot in one evening!

Mydadsbirthday · 10/12/2025 23:07

The lime and chilli or salt and cracked pepper crisps. Divine

Impatientwino · 10/12/2025 23:09

If you have some sort of cool bag given your drive length then
Frozen shallots
Frozen soffrito
Frozen rosti
No1 coffee ice cream

but also

Slicing tomatoes
Celariac remoulade
Their 3 for £12 meat deal has lots of good options.
Astrolabe wine - it’s a NZSB so if that’s your thing

Crikeyalmighty · 10/12/2025 23:10

I’m very partial to the yoghurt dressed coleslaw ( it’s pink) nowhere else I’ve seen does it - also I like their fresh potato rosti

Ooh those mince pies are lovely -

minipie · 10/12/2025 23:13

Watching. I mostly go there for meat, fruit and potted herbs. Also cheese, salami and kabanos.

They have some very nice Christmas wrapping paper right now.

Their chocolate mint thins are addictive

The Kellys miso soup.

The frozen chopped onions (I know other places do them, but the Waitrose ones are better)

The Essential fish fingers and ginger nuts.

The greek yoghurt and No 1 lemon tart.

NellyTimes · 10/12/2025 23:14

Mustard piccalilli - never seen it anywhere else, it's so good.

PennywisePoundFoolish · 10/12/2025 23:15

The chocolate and orange tarts they have in their Christmas range are very nice

worrisomeasset · 10/12/2025 23:21

The Alvalle brand gazpacho from the chiller section. I adore the stuff but it’s only fair that I mention that the rest of my family do not share my fondness for it. More for me, I suppose.

LoserWinner · 10/12/2025 23:32

Anchovies with lemon in the fish chiller cabinet.

Boudy · 10/12/2025 23:34

Why have you decided to go to Waitrose 'for the first time' if an hour away? You could look online. I think perhaps you should buy the things you like the look of or sound like you would like.

YourWinter · 10/12/2025 23:34

IdaGlossop · 10/12/2025 22:30

DH was given some as a 'little treat'. I thought I'd gone to heaven.

They were a “little treat” on my app too, but the shelf was empty. Their loyalty scheme is rubbish and offering umpteen members the same “treat” and failing to have enough in stock is just one example. Don’t get me started on their pricing almost everything 5p, 10p, 50p higher than any other store.

That said… Highmoor cheese is nice.

Belazu Crete Gold olive oil, currently on offer.

AlexaBeQuiet · 10/12/2025 23:36

Peppercorn Sauce for Steak
No.1 Truffle Mushroom Pizza
Extra Thick Bacon
