Update on her Facebook page by her family.

It's so upsetting. She made me fall in love with reading again as an adult.

Thank you for book recs etc. Love the refs to Harvey’s Bristol Cream sherry etc :) in Can You Keep A Secret. We should raise one this Christmas.

My husband died of the same type of brain tumour, its very aggressive. He had been diagnosed in June and died in the November! As a family we are trying to support The Brain Tumour Trust charity as someone has already said, more investigating into this awful disease is needed.

I was just wondering if she would have a new book soon and have started re-reading in Ernest. Now this sad news.

Her loss as a mother and family member is much greater and reminds me of my first Christmas without my own mum who also died of cancer led in fact to me discovering Sophie‘s books. My thoughts are with her loved ones and with those losing the joy of a well timed book to tide them through dark times.

Sophie was a wonderful writer who brought so much joy to so many people.
She had glioblastoma, which is terminal brain cancer. My daughter had the same cruel disease, it’s vile and indiscriminate and it killed Laura at just 23.
Brain cancer kills more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer but gets about 2% of the research spend.
I’m devastated for Sophie’s family 💔

Poor woman isn’t even in her grave and the crass Daily Fail decides to go with this article ‘Revealed: The fortune tragic Confessions of a Shopaholic author Sophie Kinsella will share between her five children after passing away from cancer aged 55’

so offensive especially given that they probably had that article prepped and waiting.

My daughter introduced me to Sophie Kinsella. I loved her books, especially the shopaolic series. Total chick flik and girly. So sad and too young. She was only 55
