I know we like a nose around other peoples houses. Might need sunglasses for this one.

The circus stripes in the first pic are awful, looks like a toddler did them!

Yes!

And the stripes in the bathroom!

Tell me you don’t like art without telling me you don’t like art 🤣

I think it’s really cool and I hope someone buys it as a piece of art, maybe opening as a local tourist attraction? I would visit!

ETA maybe not a great location for that though with the terrace houses either side 😬

Edited

Well there's Charleston, and then there's this Teletubbies version of it.

sleeppleasesoon · 04/12/2025 21:17

You couldn’t pay me to stay there.

madaboutpurple · 04/12/2025 21:26

Wow it would certainly be a talking point. Amazing use of colour.

And there is a so-called 'mansion' according to the Government. And its not even in London.

I quite like the rooms- but the hallway and staircase are a bit much IMO.

No, it is not. "Mansion" is a term dreamt up by the gutter press.

The Government says it is a house worth £2M or more. The size, type and location of the house are irrelevant.

PlazaAthenee · 05/12/2025 13:06

She's on the news today 🙄. It's ridiculous self promotion for her "art".
The price will be dropped by February.

I think you might be right. The Telegraph has done a piece on the house with her waxing lyrical about it. And she definitely thinks whoever buys it is going to treat it as a museum/gallery/shrine to herself, as she says "I felt like I have finally finished it. We’ve chosen to put it on the market because it’s really important to me that this entire chapter is preserved."

Does she expect to sell it? And for that much? I don't know that she does. According to Rightmove, next door sold three years ago for £525k, and barring the paint job they look identical. So £1.5million premium for her work? Pfft. Can't see it.

lol what? wouldnt it be better to keep it then? so noone can paint over it?

I would definitely paint over that monstrosity if it were my house

diddl · 05/12/2025 15:37

I can't read the comments in the article!

DeedsNotDiddums · 05/12/2025 18:05

I love it!! Perhaps not all the rooms at the same time, but hey, some people wouldn't mind that!

Christmaschristingle · 05/12/2025 18:13

Stunning love the sheer freedom ,the floor everyrhjng very very inspiring. However I don't think i could live in ir

Thefsm · 05/12/2025 18:16

I kind of love it, except the god awful line work on the circus tent. Some people had a rough time over Covid - I imagine for an artist this was so therapeutic. It’s too expensive for the size so I wouldn’t buy if I had that money, but I’d love to rent as an air bnb

Rhubarb24 · 05/12/2025 18:16

Estate agents who try to take arty shots of decor, and not the whole room, really cheese me off!

Agree it's a PR thing - she released a video on YouTube yesterday too:

as far as unique properties go, I love this one:

£2 million and then decorating the entire house?!

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 05/12/2025 19:07

People paid lots of money for Jackson Pollock's art work too, but I would never want my house to look like he had a "Last time I slept was 13 days ago" episode in there.

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 05/12/2025 19:11

Now that I've looked at her website, I can safely say, "Thanks, but no thanks".
I admit I know very little about what makes "art", but to me, that is not it.

flatfootedfred · 05/12/2025 19:33

I rather love it, but not sure I could live in it.

i wonder if she is actually expecting to sell it or whether it is something of a stunt?

The artist sells paintings for £5k+

And yet the “bird” has been garotted 😃

mondaytosunday · 05/12/2025 20:33

I enjoy colourful hand painted houses, not to live in myself though. But this house the painting is not very good. Creative yes, just not skilled enough.

I have three paintings in this house for which I paid more than £5K, but they don't make me want to put on my shades indoors.

https://www.emilypowellstudio.com/available-works

People buy that??

It’s really really bad!!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/12/2025 21:38

Apparently people buy that.

Or else, of course, they don't, and the garishly decorated and horribly over-priced house is a desperate publicity stunt.

ellyeth · 05/12/2025 22:39

I quite like it as a piece of art, but I couldn't live with such busyness.

CrushingOnRubies · 05/12/2025 22:43

The house has just been on the local news. I like how her DH has to be careful of where he stood because of all the wet paint. And the DD’s toys blended in
