A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Welsh farmers got truly fucked over on Tuesday when plaid backed labour. It is jaw dropping.

"“Historic moment” as climate and agriculture regulations pass | GOV.WALES" https://www.gov.wales/historic-moment-climate-and-agriculture-regulations-pass

Edited

I thought plaid opposed Labour but didn't have enough votes to swing it?

Ah there you are! I join with ‘collapsing job growth’:

Jobs growth collapsed before the budget at fastest rate since pandemic

I didn't see it @Fauchon I had a look for clips after you posted and landed on his comments about the trivial way that Labour are claiming to have a hand in the return of tens of thousands of illegal migrants when the number is just over 2000 (iirc) and the unfair impact illegal migration has on the population - including legal migrants.

Yusef does have a habit of talking over people though, which is quite rude and jarring. It's harder to stomach over a longer debate. But I think he does have a knack for clarifying the facts behind waffle that is useful.

I didn't see the full programme. It is always a bit of a bunfight between the panelists but he was rude and condescending to someone in the audience asking a question. Really not a good look.

@Upstartled Thank you for that information, I'm surprised I don't remember that. But using it for the London mayoral elections means it has precedent. Understandably, I think a lot of people have hit the point where anything even slightly resembling change, proposed by this government, is seen as alarming.

@redange I remember the previous Labour government trying to suggest racism if anyone expressed concern about lack of English language skills.

@Fauchon I didn't see it but there's loads of clips circulating. Maybe I can pick it out - who toom please (I mean to whom was he rude, in case that's not obvious - sorry that's one of my quirks of speech)

Keminism - now that's a turn of phrase I hope will catch on! 😂

“Kemi Badenoch knows what she thinks. This, it turns out, makes her quite different from Sir Keir Starmer, whose beliefs crumble like sandcastles against the incoming tide. It gives her great encouragement to discover that the only thing which really upsets him is not some breach of principle or policy failure but his affront that she dares attack him. In an age when people resent any sense of entitlement, the white knight of human rights law is Exhibit A to be mocked.”

’Keminism’, love it!

Yes Starmer be like “these are my principles and if you don’t like them I have others”

This is so bad. I heard about the upcoming bill on the radio yesterday too. Shocking. I would love to see the tories do well, but its just wrong.
All voters should be up in arms about this.

This is seems to be directly taken from Trump's playbook.

Labour are like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

It was to a late middle aged (doctor I think). There were quite a few gasps - audience and panel.

That’s great. She’s had some fantastic headlines. Definitely moved the dial on politics away from stale and male.

Stuff like Starmer’s on the ropes. He is.

I don’t watch QT these days, I have to keep some zen and avoid a lot. It’d likely be Labour irritating though.

@CambridgeSingersthat’s terrible re jobs.

EmeraldRoulette · 05/12/2025 16:39

@Fauchon oh I think I've seen it

He says to him "if you'd been paying attention to our announcement" or something like that. As if addressing a naughty kid in school.

That's pretty dreadful. I'm sure they'll even be actual supporters of his party who aren't paying attention to the detail of announcements.

And the gentleman asked his question perfectly politely so there was really no need for that response. I don't know much about Zia Yusuf - is he normally like that?

I'm fine with factual and brusque but that was both rude and ridiculous. I've seen other people accused of being rude when they were not rude. But this was rude and weird too.

Fauchon · 05/12/2025 15:42

It was to a late middle aged (doctor I think). There were quite a few gasps - audience and panel.

I pulled it up to watch it on iPlayer. I didn’t find it rude. But I have thick skin. I am mot sure why panel members are expected to smile sweetly while random people in the audience grandstand and make false claims.

The asylum seeker in the audience who explained that he had been turned down by six countries before claiming asylum in the UK took the biscuit.

The audience was a lot less radical about immigration than I would expect the general public in Kent to be.

EmeraldRoulette · 05/12/2025 17:33

@Pacificsunshine rude isn't exactly the right word but I can't think of a better one?

bizarrely patronising. I mean, everybody is not falling over themselves to listen to announcements made by Reform. The chap phrased his initial question perfectly politely. So it wasn't responding to aggression with aggression.

EmeraldRoulette · 05/12/2025 17:43

@Pacificsunshine "The audience was a lot less radical about immigration than I would expect the general public in Kent to be."

they will have chosen their audience members very carefully indeed. Wasn't there one in Bradford which was.... surprising... in terms of audience? I only know about that one because Matt Goodwin was on it 🥰😂

BBC have issued a statement saying that the refugees in the audience have been granted settled status

Zia Yusuf says that he was told they were in the audience just before he came on

Having refugees who have been granted settled status - I guess can't complain about that. That is a situation a politician should be prepared to face.

i'm doing nothing this evening, so I might watch some other clips. I should really do something else.... 😂

CambridgeSingers · 05/12/2025 17:44

Yes, this exactly:

Wes Streeting’s allies are pressing Angela Rayner to sign up to a “joint ticket” for the Labour leadership, The Telegraph can reveal.

The proposal would see Ms Rayner promised a Cabinet role and perhaps a return to being deputy prime minister if she backs a future Streeting leadership bid.

Multiple Labour sources have told The Telegraph that MPs close to the Health Secretary have made the pitch, allowing Mr Streeting to deny personal involvement.

Ms Rayner has also discussed the repeated approaches with several of her supporters.

However, a spokesman for Mr Streeting called it a “silly season” storyand a source close to Ms Rayner said there was “no pact”.

redange · 05/12/2025 22:21

Possibly 6 Labour MP's on resignation watch 1 being a 'Cabinet Minister' maybe 4 thinking of crossing the floor !

CambridgeSingers · 06/12/2025 07:11

Hmmm Streeting has better sense than to align with Rayner hasn’t he? She gets the benefit of some doubt but she’s not ready to be rehabbed….

Christmaschristingle · 06/12/2025 07:23

@EmeraldRoulette I'm certainly not against it and I think it will revolutionise medicine and many other areas . Contract law doesn't have long before Ai can take over and we can do it ourselves .
However unfortunately our young people are using ai for their school work so instead of using and searching out different sources they are just typing in , what was Henry 8ths great matter and it's created the essay answer for them .

They won't learn to think , sift, cross reference be discerning etc .

Christmaschristingle · 06/12/2025 07:24

I'm aghast at the gaul of raynors plans if true?

CambridgeSingers · 06/12/2025 07:28

@Christmaschristingle such a worry isn’t it? Add to that the decline of subjects such as history and English literature being taken at higher levels where you have build arguments and think critically…we are in danger of recreating oligarchies were you’ve got a tiny number of people who run AI and everyone else who is merely fed by it….without sounding like I’m wearing a tinfoil hat, people aren’t understanding that we’re providing governments with excellent tools for mass control.

Preferably before Starmer saddles us with digital ID please Wes.
