A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

There seems to be no consideration of the downstream effects of the policies that they implement - especially around financially policy. You'd think that would be as easy as breathing for a chess champ economist chancellor.😙

Literally says everything you need to know about this government - the only person they think can save them isn’t even an MP. They won’t let him run anyhow because they won’t want the mayorship going to reform.

Yep, precisely.
Welcome 👋

No surprises there. Well, perhaps Starmer and Reeves would be surprised, but the rest of us could see it coming from space as soon as Reeves delivered their first budget.

Yep - and he's probably one of the forerunners. Few will remain loyal to KS as this nightmare plays out, and if he's replaced by Rayner I anticipate more MPs deserting Labour.

It's all very well imposing their idealistic "batsh1tery" on the general public, but I wonder how many of their backbenchers are wondering if this version of Labour is what they envisioned and are supposed to continue to support?

So, the doctors have voted to strike again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c246dnyjylqo

83% in favour of striking! Well done Labour. You gave them a fuck off pay rise, and they’ve told you to fuck off.

🤦‍♀️

Doctors on a picket line

Doctors vote to go ahead with this week's five-day strike

It comes after ministers made fresh offer amid warning the walkout is risky as NHS battles wave of flu.

What could go wrong? It's not like it's an epic flu season. Shameless dicks.

83%! I gotta say Streeting does know how to wind people up. Call them names and try to get the public to loathe them, that should do it. Labour is really not going well there.

Would it have made a difference? The BMA are a bunch of radicalised nutjobs.

TheNuthatch · 15/12/2025 13:22

Streeting was probably hoping that public opinion might sway them to call off the strike.

I can't help thinking of Streeting preening himself that he had ended the doctor strike through his sheer brilliance at the beginning of Labour's term. It was all the Conservative's fault. Look at him now.

Yes, he did do that. It was one of the first jobs in government and he carried on like, look- all you have to do is pay them more money and all this goes away, how hard is that?

It's like when you feed geese at our local park, once you run out of food they form a pack and hunt you down.

TheNuthatch · 15/12/2025 11:32

Hard agree.
Good luck with your business. Its tough out there. I think your prediction of lots of hospitality businesses going under in the next few months is spot on.
I too knew that Labour would be appalling, but I also didn't see this coming. Our business has already gone under. Labour hate SMEs.

Thank you @TheNuthatchI am very sorry to hear that your business hasn’t survived. We came very close to losing ours last winter, but managed to keep going by injecting our own cash in to prop it up. There is no more of our own cash left for this winter, so we are praying that enough of our customers survive the winter dip in trade.

It is very so tough for SME’s right now, and if we didn’t have 25 people dependent on us for their livelihood, I’m not sure we would carry on. My husband and I certainly aren’t taking anything like a decent wage from the business, instead we prioritise paying our employees fairly and seemingly creating and handing over a massive amount of money to the tax man. It is in no way sustainable.

What a great image!

I remember as a small child being scared of rapacious ducks at the local boating lake. I’d throw some bread and then get besieged.

Little did I know that they’d go on to become doctors.

(Writing that made me think “quacks”: truer now than in the past, it seems, but for different reasons.)

I like that about the geese. Very accurate.

I've just messaged my ds about today's decision.
My ds is very left and also a doctor. He usually supports all strikes (point of contention between us), but even ds is disgusted with the behaviour of the BMA on this occasion. He was really pleased with the concessions offered by Streeting, which are much needed.

Glad it's not just me who has history with feral geese.😁

Yes, I am worried about who the party members and affiliates would consider a better prospect than Starmer.

DancingFerret · 15/12/2025 14:19

If Starmer is ejected, it appears we're going to be in even worse economic straits. Add to that the prospect of PM Rayner...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/3dd25c1749452fe4

It’s hard to know what would happen if the markets did react. Sunak stepped in and steadied it all and it corrected, idk who would do that if it happened on Burnham becoming leader.

Prometheus78 · 15/12/2025 15:09

EasternStandard · 15/12/2025 11:09

That’s it it’s all they have. Breakfast clubs. Forget jobs, growth and the pre GE lines. MPs have to cling to something to be able to speak about Labour.

It’s utterly pathetic.

Some kids arriving at school with empty stomachs because of parental neglect, will be the least of Labour’s troubles.

And the fucking moron Starmer continues to talk about 150 off rising energy bills from April, as if he is some kind of financial wizard.

What a fool.

Domestically, we are preparing for a full blown political crisis in the first half of next year - covering financial markets to strike action to civil disorder.

I would rather ‘take some insurance’ rather than rely on this lot.

CambridgeSingers · 15/12/2025 16:05

The junior doctors striking amidst a flu crisis is not going to be a good look for them - surely the ban can see that has PR disaster written all over it…

CaveMum · 15/12/2025 16:34

My dad had just had a hospital ointment cancelled for Thursday this week. It was a rescheduled one from September and they’re now saying it will be late January before they can fit him in.

He has a neurological condition that needs careful management but by January it will be 6 months since he last saw someone - he’s supposed to be checked over every 2-3 months 😤

Let’s hope you never need a doctor since you hold them in such low regard! I have a doctor DC. My DC and their peers took six years to qualify in the UK never slipped any grades. They are consistently treated like s£&@t by successive UK governments. It is a lot more troubling and complex a picture than “shameless dicks” and any parent of a doctor should know that.

I think the PP was referring to the timing of the strike action.
