The sceamers are getting so boring now. Anyone who isn't a six-figure + earner is a feckless wastrel according to them. Even then if you are in the public sector and a high earner you are still a feckless wastrel.

The Kemi thread is currently proving my point nicely.

When I pointed out that I'd worked all my life and never claimed benefits I had a jibe about the public sector lobbed at me, as though that meant I was a feckless benefit claimant. 🙄

Good for you @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

An interregnum can be a very tricky time, I attended a church during one as my usual church took a mentoring role with it whilst they waited for a new vicar to be appointed. They had had the same very high church vicar for many years who was called Father, and there were some very strong characters there who were delighted to be in charge. We had one visiting preacher who taught the children to genuflect and sang a song about it with them which I had never seen in an Anglican Church before.

They appointed a new vicar who came to visit the parish after being appointed and after meeting the congregation he changed his mind! They more or less boasted on the Facebook group that they were Anglo Catholics and nobody was going to change them.

I am not in touch with anyone from there now, but it seems the new vicar has put his foot down and is firmly in charge, the Facebook page now has a disclaimer that it does not represent the church in any way 😬

Yes, I saw that. You were obviously the wrong type of worker for that period of your life!

Thoughts are with all those battling illness , hope the times ahead are not too tough.

Can I ask What time is the rapture tomorrow? Can it be before 9.30 so I don’t have to do my team call? Seeing as the team are spread throughout Europe - is it only me that gets raptured - do I need to tell them to carry on regardless?

BIWI · 30/11/2025 21:14

I hope the rapture doesn’t come too early, as I have British Gas coming to fix my washing machine.

Possibly more like the bus service round here -,says 9.30 - could go sailing past at 9.20 be 20 minutes late or just not turn up at all.
Is there a time difference for anyone in your meeting? Might be 9am local time?

We’ve got an Amber warning of rain so I may as well stay in and wait for it.

I’m getting really tired of it. Every thread that’s even remotely political is getting hijacked now.

LlttledrummergirI · 30/11/2025 22:51

They don't have to be political. There is a thread where op has been threatened by vinted seller and the police are being useless.

Several posters saying misgender the seller and the police will be there fast. Fuck off with that bullshit.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/11/2025 23:08

I swear social media is making us all stupider.

CONFIRMED: Oxford University Press has named ‘rage bait’ as the Oxford Word of the Year 2025.

Rage bait was chosen as the winner following a combination of votes, sentiment of public commentary, and analysis of OUP’s lexical data.

Usage of the word increased threefold in the last 12 months.

Unsurprising really. And we now have yet another thread where the idea is being promoted that Reform will get in and it's Labour's fault. No doubt that one will run and run as soon as certain posters see it.

I wonder what the outcome of the reports to the FCA will be? I had a reread of Reeves' speech. She did not specify what she was planning. So not sure there are grounds to say she lied?

Keep up Pandora, we don't want our taxes to go on welfare or public services. People need to know their place.

Haha. Yes, I’ve noticed that being a public sector worker is considered a sign of being a dissolute sponger. It’s used as an insult.

I assume that’s on the basis that public sector workers - teachers/paramedics/nurses/social workers/the Armed Forces/national security agencies/refuse collectors/council workers/anyone working for the passport office or the DVLA etc - don’t pay tax.

Probably because they’ve all moved to Dubai.

Notonthestairs · 01/12/2025 10:31

Have I missed the rapture?

Efacsen · 01/12/2025 10:44

Starmer is giving a speech at the moment, maybe the rapture is watching?
