A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It’s true @EasternStandard but Starmer is a victim of the nasty right wing media. They’re all victims. If only they’d form a support group and stop spiralling us down the drain…

EasternStandard · 25/11/2025 07:46

ReevesRuinedChristmas · 25/11/2025 07:36

Now to be fair to reeves we know the labour party is misogynistic and we know starmer has a history of it (Rosie duffield etc ) so in spite of the bad budget she may well be facing it from her colleagues in the labour party !!

Andrew marr on lbc played back her speech the last time how she " won't be coming back for more ".

If led by donkeys werenr left they would be driving around blasting that speech out and getting posters up everywhere with quotes from her speech.

Also he had a commentator on saying budgets themselves are becoming a big issue , all this damaging speculation.

Labour probably are that, and Starmer is but I think she’s aiming it at the media?

So many briefings from them. It’s a cycle of toxic noise. Tread lightly on our lives yeh right.

Ha ha yes 'tread lightly" with job losses, digital ID and the upcoming budget.
"1 and done" which none on here believed anyway

Maybe aiming at her lot via the media because it's not a good look to call them out.

She said she will be chancellor in two years .

That depends on starmer though, if he goes then she goes. If he stays then he will never sack her

If so that sounds like gaslighting again. If she means her lot then she should say it to them.

We don’t need the extra psychodrama. We’ve got enough with extra doom briefings and endless kite flying.

ReevesRuinedChristmas · 25/11/2025 07:59

She may be forced to quit

2/3 people this morning poll say they wish rishi was in charge

Yep absolutely

EasternStandard · 25/11/2025 08:35

Or Kemi. A woman as leader, which Labour haven’t managed.

SpaceRaccoon · 25/11/2025 08:40

I wonder if Rishi mutters "told you so" a lot. I would.

Forgetmenot9 · 25/11/2025 09:31

There is another article in from the BBC talking about a family struggling because of the 2 child benefit cap. I won't post the link as I don't think people particularly deserve personal criticism online, but she had 5 kids and didn't work.

How is it fair journalism if aren't pointing out that most people couldn't afford 5 children, or how working families are spacing children 4 years apart to just keep their heads above water. Come and stand at any London train station and see how many parents are arriving at 7am to go to work!!

redange · 25/11/2025 09:32

Does Rishi Sunak care anymore or has he moved on !

EmeraldRoulette · 25/11/2025 10:11

@redange it's considered really bad form for a former prime minister to comment in any meaningful way on this kind of thing.

I think Rishi Sunak is likely to follow that etiquette, possibly even more so after what happened with the D-Day event when he actually was Prime Minister.

James Cleverly made me smile this morning. 😁

He was asked about the boss of Centrica saying that he wanted to pay more tax. JC responded by saying that those who wanted to pay more tax can do so via voluntary contributions to HMRC :-)

More impact would be done if the person used their excess cash and invested in charitable stuff in their local area

Nothing's preventing him from doing that as well.

He can do both, in fact.

Yes for Christmas. Not to live though!

The question should be ‘how much extra will you pay?’

Peanuts, probably.

I suppose that depends on who you believe represents the better custodian of your hard earned, the treasury or the charity in question…

The thing with charity is that it's voluntary

Chris O'Shea has specifically said he wants to pay more income tax though so I'm not sure what that has to do with charity in this case.

I'm just saying that those you want to pay more tax can do so. But there'd be more actual measurable impact if they gave the money to local charity issues.
