What's your favourite?
I've just found a jar of homemade (by a friend) plum jam dated 2021 while sorting out a neglected cupboard.
It's delicious.
My all time favourite is Bonne maman's Apricot conserve.
I also love marmalade.

I saw this and thought of Paul Weller. Sorry.

ConcernedOfClapham · 20/11/2025 10:42

Yes, I was going to say I preferred the Style Council 🫢

JudgeBread · 20/11/2025 10:43

Love a good jam. Jam on a crumpet is my favourite easy breakfast.

My mam got me a jar of sour cherry jam for Christmas last year and it was bloody delicious.

My go to is always Bonne Maman raspberry though, it's so yummy on toast.

I love apple jam but it’s not sold in the Uk so I have to either make myself or stock up if I see any when I’m abroad!

Needmorelego · 20/11/2025 10:45

I've just finished a jar of plum jam that I got from Aldi or Lidl.
It was very delicious.
I'm now onto cherry. Also delicious.
I love lemon or orange curd too.
😋

Yes to jam and The Jam!

My favourite is Léonce Blanc apricot jam. Or St Dalfour blackcurrant.

I find the ordinary Bonne Maman too sweet, the intense version of the apricot is better though.

Edited to add that the intense BM has a different coloured lid to make it easier to spot.

My all time favourite is marmalade, but I once tried a strawberry and balsamic vinegar jam which was surprisingly tasty!

I got some apple jam once from the shop HEMA (dutch shop I think 🤔) which briefly had a few branches in the UK.
It was nice indeed.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 20/11/2025 10:49

I also came to investigate if this was about The Jam, or the kind of jam that goes on sandwiches!

Personally, I'm a big fan of raspberry jam.

Needmorelego · 20/11/2025 10:50

I used to go as a parent helper on school trips and one was to a National Trust place and the gift shop had all sorts of fancy flavours of jam and curds. They had samples you could try on crackers.
Unfortunately I couldn't let the kids in my group try any (incase of allergies) but I was literally stuffing my face.

squashyhat · 20/11/2025 10:53

My homemade strawberry from my home-grown strawberries. As long as I get the set right. Otherwise it looks pretty gruesome - red blobs in a pink sea.

Handeyethingyowl · 20/11/2025 10:54

My favourite is Damson, a treat as don’t see often. Or just any WI stall jam!

Me too. Lifelong fan!

Love Boddington’s Strawberry Jam
(made in Mevagissey) in a Cornish cream tea. Jam first obviously 😊

reluctantbrit · 20/11/2025 10:55

We have normally home made blackberry jelly at home plus some Bonne Maman, can be apricot, strawberry or blueberry.

I love apple or quince jelly but it's hard to get here so I bring it back from Germany.

I like Marmelade but I am the only one so it's often reserved for hotel breakfast.

girdlehurdle · 20/11/2025 10:55

I’ve just polished off a plate of jam on toast. I love Bonne Maman strawberry or raspberry with lashings of lurpak 😀

BeMellowAquaSquid · 20/11/2025 10:59

My mum makes a mean chilli and ginger jam that I love with cheese and crackers mmm

zingally · 20/11/2025 11:01

I'm not, but my mum bloody loves the stuff.

She makes most of her jam at home, and relishes blackberry season when she goes out every day to pick them. That's her favourite jam to make and consume.

Seeing all the comments about plum jam, reminded me of my grandma. An undeservingly snobbish woman, she always vetoed plum jam, claiming it was "common". She also wouldn't frequent cafes without tablecloths, because they were also "common".

TheTecknician · 20/11/2025 11:05

I can't remember when I last bought any jam but I always liked a good quality strawberry. Less keen on raspberry. I should really try blackcurrant. I never liked marmalade of any variety. BTW, why is jam made from citrus fruits called marmalade, at least in the UK? The French call it 'confiture d'orange'.

FranticFrankie · 20/11/2025 11:08

Yes love Jam- any
Well it's a Start!

Turnitoffnonagain · 20/11/2025 11:08

It's translated from some French to do with being "malade" (ill, I think) though could be wrong.🤔

pixiegirlishere · 20/11/2025 11:10

Strawberry jam all the way. Ideally with actual strawberries in. Yum!

FridgeJenga · 20/11/2025 11:16

Haha, apologies to the music fans for the click baity title, I don't know why the J was capitalised!
But jam or The Jam fans are all welcome.

Sorry @zingally grandma for having the common plum jam 😄

What are the most bizarre flavour combinations you've come across?

Not any more because Afternoon Teas are, inevitably served with Strawberry or Blackcurrant which I hate!
I am a fan of cranberry sauce (which is jam by another name) so I will have that instead 😀

Florencesndzebedee · 20/11/2025 11:18

Yes to both!
I was at a French market a couple of weeks ago and picked up the most amazing fig jam (my favourite) as well as a wonderful raspberry jam. Love it on a freshly baked baguette or a dollop in some Greek yoghurt.
