What's your favourite?
I've just found a jar of homemade (by a friend) plum jam dated 2021 while sorting out a neglected cupboard.
It's delicious.
My all time favourite is Bonne maman's Apricot conserve.
I also love marmalade.

Oh and if you love jam then try the Bonne Maman jam Advent calendar!! I am so looking forward to it this year!

PiccadillyPurple · 20/11/2025 12:05

Raspberry.

I always used to love crab apple jelly but rarely see it on sale nowadays.

I saw this and thought of Paul Weller. Sorry.

So did I.

As for the confiture, prefer marmalade. Of the jams, strawberry.

I'm not a fan of shop bought jam but a friend of mine used to make her own

God almighty,I would have sold my children for a jar of her strawberry jam

Sweet, but not too sweet and great big lumps of strawberry and a real deep red colour

It was the best on toast

My only problem with it was she didnt make enough of it!

Her elderberry juice was the bees knees and so was her raspberry jam (I loved the strawberry just a tiny bit more)

My father loved her lemon curd (he rated it over the f&m jar someone bought him as a present)

She sadly died before I got the recipe from her and her dds binned her copy

My favourite is blackberry jam. I bought a jar last year of homemade jam at a local fair and only opened it about a month ago.

It is very thick with whole blackberries and really nice. I have it on crumpets with lots of butter. Delicious! 😋

Yes, although now my problem is what to put it on because I'm gluten free. Have lately taken to make my own GF scones, still not as good as wheat ones, but I'm still tweaking the recipe. I love raspberry, apricot and also my own homemade redcurrant-blackberry jam (first cook down the redcurrants and strain then add that liquid to blackberries plus sugar. Delicious!

Just a spoon will suffice, surely? Keeps the calories down as well.

I'm a big fan of raspberry, apricot or cherry jam. We also had an abundance of plums over the summer so made many many jars of plum jam which was delicious.

This thread is reminding me of the poster who threw a head fit because her child's after school club was giving them jam sandwiches. Lucky kid!

stringbean · 20/11/2025 13:08

Home-made every time. My dmmakes fabulous raspberry jam using fresh or frozen raspberries, and dh made blackcurrant jam this year after we went fruit-picking. Bonne Maman is a reasonable substitute for raspberry but nothing beats home-made jam IMO.

Yes, a spoon does suffice, I'm not sure what you're questioning here? I'm not worried about calories as I'm underweight if anything.

mondaytosunday · 20/11/2025 13:55

Yes! Strawberry is a family favourite but fine cut marmalade is my choice. A few years ago I got my DD a Bonne Maman advent calendar filled with mini jars of all sorts of different jams. Delish!

Hillyhillyholly · 20/11/2025 13:56

Only strawberry jam and I have to really fancy it.

Alpacajigsaw · 20/11/2025 13:58

I’m not the biggest fan, will take the occasional scrape on a scone. My husband and kids are bloody obsessed with jam though. Honestly jam was one of my eldest’s first words when he learned to speak

CoastalCalm · 20/11/2025 14:01

Yep my favourite Christmas gift last year was an assortment of Fortnum jams but use Bonne Maman through the year and also M&S berries and cherries which I buy up when sold off after Christmas

Claymoreiron · 20/11/2025 14:05

Yes! I was very excited to get a jam advent calendar one year.

i like all jams but cherry is a favourite.

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2025 14:07

ChopsyDoesntDoFungus · 20/11/2025 14:34

Bramble jam. Or jelly really, no seeds to contend with that way. On a bagel with Philadelphia. Yum.

PrimSec · 20/11/2025 15:25

Yes, anyone on this thread really should get the Bonne Maman advent calendar, so many interesting flavours. And it looks lovely:

My favourite jam ever was actually from that calendar a few years ago, a cherry jam with Christmas spices. Every year we get the calendar hoping they’ll do it again! I spent ages looking for it, but turns out a lot of flavours are made just for the calendar and can’t be bought as a full pot.

ChevernyRose · 20/11/2025 15:33

M&S do something like that with cinnamon

DarkEyedSailor · 20/11/2025 15:36

I love jam. I make all of ours. Gooseberry is my favourite or greengage.

TheTecknician · 20/11/2025 16:28

Do any of you home jam-makers ever make other preserves like chutney, piccalilli or mint jelly? I've never tried piccalilli - somehow the colour puts me off, yet I'm a fan of English mustard.

I've made chutney a few times. Stinks the house out with vinegar though! Worth it however!

WinterBerry40 · 20/11/2025 16:56

I like jam but only on / in certain things . Victoria Sandwich - yes , on a scone - yes , a homemade jam tart - yes .

But on bread or a crumpet or crispbread / rice cake - nope !

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 20/11/2025 16:58

I still think about the Dorchester Rose jam I had at an afternoon tea there a few years ago.

other than that, I love bonne maman (just added a jar of blueberry to my shop after seeing it mentioned here) and M&S conserves - any flavour

GardenersDelight · 20/11/2025 16:58

Only bought some day so can't comment on taste but aldis have started doing a 75% fruit conserve, in apricot, strawberry or cherry
Obviously homemade is best!
