Labour isn't working - Thread 20

TheNuthatch · 17/11/2025 11:40

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

We are bracing for the budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@Legolava

I had the same name on the last thread?
My angle is that if Labour isn’t working - then I don’t know what will work.
And I don’t think parties supporting racism or misogyny are the answer.
I don’t think Labour are currently working - because they are giving oxygen to ReformUK voters.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 07:20

They know this. Don't forget that MN said we're free to ignore whomever we like; there is no obligation to engage.

Just curious as people seem to be engaging in good faith and the same stuff is being posted over and over.

Rivalled · 19/11/2025 07:25

But they won’t collect or publish the data on the breakdown of income profiles of those leaving…vs the inflow will they?

Labour and misogyny? Well, reforms to EHCPs to take money away, and school VAT - who do we think the increased resulting caring burden will fall on there? But that’s ok because according to Labour those will be middle class women with sharp elbows.

the problems with Labour are their awful policies, and their lack of a distinctive voice, that’s why they’re pandering to reform.

Ik it’s exactly what they were after. That tax loss will impact all of us, plus job losses.

So short sighted. Especially when you consider how narrow the tax base is and how many are state reliant people. Net contributors usually have a skill set that is in demand globally. These people will leave.

Agree plus I think there’s other threads focusing on those topics and we can stick to the point of this one.

Some people - erroneously - think that if you don't support Labour, then you support Reform.

People are free to support whichever party they like, in the first instance. Secondly, not all of us support Reform (and even if we did, I doubt constant haranguing would lead to a change of mind).

The left need to look at their own problems and solve them, not persistently berate others for looking for a better alternative.

TenLittleSweetWrappers · 19/11/2025 07:47

@NoWordForFluffy

That’s right. As well as reminding posters that Mumsnet will decide what constitutes derailment, a bot or a troll. Mumsnet doesn’t support trollhunting. And thank you to Mumsnet as they removed the post calling me an ‘it’.
I’m posting in line with terms and conditions.
Even if I had changed my name since the last thread (I haven’t btw so @legolava was incorrect there) - Mumsnet does permit this as they are overall ‘in charge’.

TenLittleSweetWrappers · 19/11/2025 07:51

@Legolava

You are also incorrect to say that I’m posting ‘the same stuff over and over’.
But I’m surprised you are even reading my posts enough to know.

TenLittleSweetWrappers · 19/11/2025 07:57

@mnhq

Sorry to check again! My motivation for joining this thread is that - I don’t think Labour is working, but I’m concerned that this situation is giving oxygen to the party that is top of the polls.
An I allowed to post here?

Posters are encouraging each other to.ignore me again or that I’m saying the ‘same stuff over and over’ or accusing me of name changing since the last thread - I have not. It feels like troll hunting, and I am not a troll? Thank you.

Feel free.

We are free to ignore you. MN have confirmed that, in writing.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 08:05

Persistent reporting to MN is a well known tactic by some quarters to get threads shut down. It's seen on FWR (though not as much as the old days).

It's the MN equivalent of a vexatious litigant, IMO.

I think it's right that people should look at the entire political spectrum to decide which party suits them. Even if their choice wouldn't be mine. It's a democratic country (allegedly)!

Anyway, I reckon that Reform will fuck up so many councils that they'll have imploded by the next GE (assuming it doesn't come out of nowhere in the near future).

Posters are free to start their own threads on another topic. This one is about the current Labour government. Every thread on MN is topical.

Its quite telling that the some want to stop us talking about Labour.

Good morning to everyone on the Labour is a bag of shite thread. Hope everyone is well.

I see inflation didn't fall to the level expected because food inflation is up again, to the surprise of nobody who does the shopping.

TenLittleSweetWrappers · 19/11/2025 08:34

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat

No worries. I’m perfectly fine with you not engaging with me.

What I’m not fine with is posters ganging up/accusing me of name changing and going against Mumsnet terms and conditions.

I’m afraid I’m also going to report ‘running to Mummy’ as it’s a bit of a personal attack.
I’m not a child.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 19/11/2025 08:35

Yesterday's delivery was a bawhair off 100 quid. It was not large or luxurious.

Food shopping is crazy.

I mean the cost 😬

Reeves to spend £6bn more on benefits

Bearing in mind the plan was to decrease the welfare budget by a similar amount and this doesn't include the potential cost of jettisoning the 2 child cap.

Reeves to spend £6bn more on benefits

Ministers will argue the rise, equal to the rate of inflation in September, is important so that the value of benefits is not eroded

The cost of food is eye watering isn't it. It hasn't yet peaked either, thats expected next month ready for us all to to the Christmas shop.

All as a direct result of the previous budget. Thanks Labour. 🙄
