Inspired by a box of florentines I picked up in our newly opened Lidl last week.
They were in the Christmas aisle so I assume they're only available for this period.
Need to get another box or three...

Hard to pick a favourite, but i love a mince pie.

weebarra · 16/11/2025 19:41

Florentines! And all the supermarkets this year seem to be doing pastry cinnamon knots, so I’m having to compare. From Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose, Waitrose are winning so far!

evtheria · 16/11/2025 19:43

Florentines, love them

Turkish Delight - but we buy a selection from a middle eastern stall in town, they have over 12 types! Hate the ones in boxes at supermarkets.

Cheap lumpfish roe (“caviar”) which we always eat on Christmas Eve with buttered water crackers and sliced boiled egg.

Lift the 'lid' and pop a wee bit of clotted cream in. Thank me later 😘👌

I’m taking notes now 👏👏

Pannetone… toasted with butter.

And eating chocolate Orange for breakfast through December. Delicious.

MsSmartShoes · 16/11/2025 19:57

Christmas Cake - homemade.

Advocodo · 16/11/2025 20:19

Always bubble and squeak!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/11/2025 20:38

Bucks Fizz, with fresh orange juice.

Homemade 🎄pudding , so much nicer than any shop one, with lots of brandy butter.

WhenNCisntthat · 16/11/2025 20:40

Chocolate coins. But they can’t be too thick. Also have to be cold from the fridge to have the correct crackability.

SliceofTosst · 16/11/2025 20:45

Florentines here too.

TenWeeCaramelJoeys · 16/11/2025 20:53

BottleGreen 'Spiced Berries' cordial made with hot water.

I have some of this in the house. Must try with hot water.

FusionChefGeoff · 16/11/2025 22:46

Yogi Christmas tea

JasonTindallsTan · 16/11/2025 22:50

Festive Bakewell’s. Cherry Bakewell’s with no cherry on top and sprinkles instead. Perfect.

SpottyAardvark · 16/11/2025 22:54

At this time of year, Lidl’s mini butter stollen bites. They are the real deal, made in Germany, and completely addictive. Fortunately for my waistline, they don’t import the chocolate covered ones, which are even better.

TangerinePlate · 16/11/2025 23:02

Venison stew and rooster potatoes mashed with butter, milk and cheddar seasoned with black pepper

Cosywintervibes · 17/11/2025 02:22

Having a Sherry or two whilst decorating the Christmas tree and writing Christmas cards/wrapping presents. With old Christmas songs in the background, like... its beginning to look a lot like Christmas etc. The Sherry is always in my charity shop vintage glasses... its tradition in my house.

I was so born in the wrong era 😪 🤣6

I have a couple of boxes of the chocolate ones in my freezer @SpottyAardvark@SpottyAardvark

It's the only way I can control myself but stock up for Christmas. 😅 They always sell out so fast at my two local stores.

Blarghism · 17/11/2025 07:19

Local strawberries are my favourite seasonal treat, for this season it's Nordic spiced biscuits.

BlueWorkDay · 17/11/2025 07:56

Nigella's sticky gingerbread. I make a tray of it on Christmas Eve every year. It stores well so can keep us going until the New Year.

At Christmas - Yorkshire pudding dipped into my special gravy

At Easter - Cadbury Easter egg chocolate. Nothing else tastes as good.

im low brow.

Oh god yes , why is the Cadbury’s egg chocolate so much better than the normal bars .

OldGothsFadeToGrey · 17/11/2025 08:37

Lidl Spekulatius biscuits (favorina). Also Stollen, egg nog, Aldi do these scallop and king prawn gratins which are amazing, and also Aldi’s Camembert and chilli crisps.

Crackers and cheese from a mixed box. Orange creams. Yule log. Cherry brandy.

Mulled wine, particularly the smell because it reminds of my ex making it and then us getting in a mess putting up the tree!

Nutmuncher · 17/11/2025 09:44

Having Diptyque Sapin and Pomander candles burning in the evenings

Me too! I write my Christmas cards with the beautiful Messenger fountain pen I got for my 21st. And I always make a special trip to the Post Office to buy the Christmas themed stamps too.

ShearLuxe · 17/11/2025 10:03

A big family Christmas cheeseboard.

I know I could do it anytime…. but I don’t and there’s something about a Christmas cheeseboard that just feels extra special & decadent.

Also, more variety of cheeses to choose from this time of year.
