Inspired by a box of florentines I picked up in our newly opened Lidl last week.
They were in the Christmas aisle so I assume they're only available for this period.
Need to get another box or three...

Toblerone. The only time of year I have one

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 16/11/2025 18:14

I absolutely cannot be trusted around Panetone. Could easily eat a whole big one.
Anything with marzipan, and simple, home made mince pies.

Christmas is amazing.

Lebkuchen

Have you seen any non -chocolate lebkuchen this year? I haven't been able to get any for the last couple of years!

DrPrunesqualer · 16/11/2025 18:20

Oo yes I’d forgotten about Turkish Delight,
that and chocolate coated Brazils are two things we only ever buy at Christmas

No idea why it’s become a once a year thing tbh as both are real favourites

CeeJay81 · 16/11/2025 18:23

Lidl stollen bites😋, I've got 3 packets in the cupboard. They always run out of them well before Christmas, so have to get them early. I'm sure one packet will be consumed well before then though!

I’ve looked and Even the Lidl ones have some chocolate on.

plus they aren’t vegetarian

ginasevern · 16/11/2025 18:30

Advocaat. Especially when made into a snowball with a maraschino cherry (or three) on top.

Laf90 · 16/11/2025 18:31

I'm not a big drinker but always get a bottle of martini asti at christmas

youalright · 16/11/2025 18:32

Chocolate yule log

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 18:33

Morrisons usually has the iced lebkuchen

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 18:33

I’ve just bought the Finch bakery brownie Yule log recipe, usually I do nigella but fancy a change.

Bbq1 · 16/11/2025 18:34

Charcuterie platters and mince pies

Christmas is amazing.

I've had to ban myself from buying pannetone until 23rd December at the earliest because I just eat it all and buy another to replace it and eat that one too.

Arraminta · 16/11/2025 18:39

BottleGreen 'Spiced Berries' cordial made with hot water.

A splash of Baileys in my coffee

A box of large, luxury Satsumas from thefruitandvegman.co.uk

A festive coffee every time I pass a Costa

Someone to buy, prepare and cook Christmas Lunch, serve it and then clear it all away afterwards.

DarkEyedSailor · 16/11/2025 18:42

Ooh, brandy butter. I can eat it with a spoon like a yoghurt.

Blingismything · 16/11/2025 18:44

Baileys, Montezuma’s marzipan chocolate log, M&S party food, particularly the prawn selection, a slice of Christmas cake with marzipan and soft royal icing.

Vicliz24 · 16/11/2025 18:47

Rose and violet creams . Not easy to find these days but absolutely part of Christmas.

realsavagelike · 16/11/2025 18:48

Myoldbear · 16/11/2025 16:41

Turkish delight; my Christmas treat since childhood.
Must be rose and lemon cubes in a wooden box with a wooden fork to spear it out of the clouds of icing sugar, so thick you can barely see if you're getting rose or lemon.

Exactly this!

MrsLizzieDarcy · 16/11/2025 18:50

Christmas is the only time of year that I run riot and fill the fridge with cheese, cheese and more cheese. There's a local deli that has a huge counter and I have the best time going in and choosing. My two son in laws always message on christmas eve to say what ones have you got Grin

ChippySauce · 16/11/2025 18:57

@Vicliz24 I've seen them in Lidl... in the Christmas aisle 😄
Think they had a pink gin flavour too.

Proper homemade mince pies. Stollen is nice, but mince pies straight from the oven are to die for.

Lift the 'lid' and pop a wee bit of clotted cream in. Thank me later 😘👌

Jellycatspyjamas · 16/11/2025 19:34

HelloCharming · 16/11/2025 16:35

Stollen, only discovered it recently as I’d avoided it for being marzipan….gosh it is, but it’s lovely.
panettone to make bread and butter pudding.
ham, home cooked, to have ham, egg and chips on Boxing Day.

I made a small ham for dinner tonight with dauphinois potatoes, which was delicious but tbh I’m looking forward to ham, eggs and chips tomorrow almost as much.

HoobleDooble · 16/11/2025 19:36

Baileys or whisky in every cup of coffee I drink from the moment I break up until the day I go back to work. 😁

louderthan · 16/11/2025 19:38

I am not fond of Christmas food, but I do enjoy the acceptability of having a glass of fizz at 11am.
