our inability to accept what used to be a British institution loved by many and affectionately known as "the Beeb" or "Auntie" has turned into something unrecognisable and also untrustworthy
Agreed. It used to be a symbol of the UK's democratic strength - with a commitment to truth and fairness - and also our commitment internationally with the BBC world service. (I'm old enough to have travelled to out-of-the-way places when there wasn't access to the Internet, and it held a nostalgic place in my heart as a reliable link to 'the civilised world')
In recent years, the obvious bias generally pisses me off pretty rapidly, and I don't use it by choice. But I thought it was just modern reporting standards.
I'm truly shocked that they modified the US president's speech in order to deliberately mislead, to reflect their own political agenda.
And that they deliberately broadcast anti-Israel bias into the Arab world, fanning the flames of conflict.
Both are such a betrayal of UK cultural values. I feel like I don't recognise the BBC anymore... and sadly it feeds into my feeling that I don't recognise the UK any more either.
