How often do you clean your bathroom?

Exactly that really. Just finished cleaning the bathroom and got me wondering, how often does everyone else generally clean the bathroom?

@SirChenjins phew! I can't imagine anything worse than cleaning the bathroom every time someone used it!

Same! I actually thought more people would claim to clean every time it had been used 😂

Chasingsquirrels · 07/11/2025 09:03

My new ensuite was finished in April.

We both squeegee the shower glass & walls after use, and then dry off inc the taps with an old cloth. I empty the shower trap once a week or so when I'm showering. No other cleaning needed.
(Very hard water area).

I dry off the sink & taps after I use it.

Once a week or so I use the drying cloth to wipe over countertop, floor (v small), and round the toilet.

It is still as sparking as when we finish it and it makes me smile every time I go in there.

Downstairs loo, probably every few weeks, although toilet when needed.

Main bathroom is just used by ds2 now, every couple of months when I remind him it needs doing, or I clean the bath before I have one (very infrequent).

Everyday. It only takes a few minutes and means I never have to do a deep clean.

Same. I’ve always done this and then once a week the floor gets done and stuff like mirrors, limescale, grout etc.

I really enjoy cleaning, and I mean reaaaallly enjoy it! It clears my head and relaxes me.

Daily takes about 2 minutes to whiz over everything. I’m really busy with loads on but can always find the couple of minutes.

A mucky sink makes me feel a bit “urghhh” - mine and other people’s toothpaste, gob and soap scum, no thanks!

However I also firmly believe that people should do what they’re happy with too whether that’s never, daily, weekly, monthly or whenever.

Pretty sure bleach is not a good thing for the environment.

And for me, bleaching the loo is just going to make the yuk white yuk? It won't actually clean off the marks.

I don't think the fact that it is used in eye sprays (? what are they anyway?) and hair dyes is a reason to put it down the loo tbh. I dye my hair but I dn't want to dye the bathroom, just clean it.

Agree re wipes – why not use a cloth then stick it in the towels wash?

If you think bleach just turns the yuk white then you don’t understand how bleach works. It oxides, liquifies and degrades organic matter, cleaning off the marks :)

I already posted I stood corrected on this.

I don't use it tho as would splash on self and also my research suggests it's not great for the planet.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 07/11/2025 10:13

There's usually only me using it, so toilet most days gets a squirt of bleach and a scrub round. Sink probably once a week proper clean, bath/shower once a fortnight. Actually big clean of floors/washing shower curtain, dusting, cleaning tiles etc - probably more like once a month unless Something has Happened in there, in which case I'd do it then (or as soon afterwards as I felt capable).

I'm not big on housework as you can probably tell.

Mistyglade · 07/11/2025 10:19

As I go along especially when my peri hair is falling out all over the place.

AutumnLover1989 · 07/11/2025 10:20

Toilet daily and bathroom once or twice a week.

We have to clean it?

Yes it’s news to me as well 😂 Also the removing of the toilet seat! Is that to put it the dishwasher?

I can remove the loo seat. I do not have a dishwasher.
It's not to clean the seat per se, but it means I can clean the area behind the 'hinge' more easily.

😂😂 fuck off! That’s a belter that is!

Bjorkdidit · 07/11/2025 12:50

Well I've just spent the last couple of days putting cat litter trays, the oven door glass and the kitchen bins through the dishwasher. I might do the toilet seat next.

<joke>, I would but I don't know how to remove it Grin

When I've finished, I will be rinsing the filter and running the dishwasher care cycle with cleaning liquid.

usedtobeaylis · 07/11/2025 13:04

Weekly-ish. I've tried the 'only takes a few minutes' stuff but it's amazing how many things that applies to and how quickly it becomes more. So nah.

LoudPlumDog · 07/11/2025 13:27

Everyday as we only have the one, so lots of use.

I only have one between 3 of us. Gets cleaned once a week. Bleach down the loo when required.

hiredandsqueak · 07/11/2025 14:33

Properly once a week then a wipe round sink and toilet with a flash wipe most days.

Factor37 · 07/11/2025 14:59

There's three of us and one bathroom and it gets a proper clean once a week, with the loo getting an extra clean a couple of times in-between. The sink too also get a few extras cleans during the week due to the toothpaste gremlins I live with.

Factor37 · 07/11/2025 15:05

I'm also outraged at some of the bleach hate on here. I friggin love bleach 😁

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 07/11/2025 15:09

Proper clean once a week, sink and toilet gt a wipe most days

fivebyfivefaith · 07/11/2025 15:10

I don’t get the toothpaste and soap scum
my dad gets toothpaste bloody everywhere, it’s like he’s brushing his teeth with a drill speed or something

i spit out the toothpaste and rinse the sink, it doesn’t go anywhere else. Never get soap scum, again rinse the sink after use

I could post a pic of my sink that hasn’t been cleaned in probably 3 weeks and people would use it (I think!)

Same - and fabric conditioner! 🤭

High five ✋🏼 and what's the problem with fabric softener? Must have missed that bit.

Denim4ever · 07/11/2025 15:17

DH does it as part of weekly cleaning. We do use loo brush/toilet duck as and when, clean up a bit after shower/bath and have a cloth on hand to wipe sink

OriginalUsername2 · 07/11/2025 15:41

NetZeroZealot · 06/11/2025 22:24

I don’t believe you!

I couldn’t face doing that every day.

I do a daily tissue wipe of the windowsill, sink and entire loo after a shower when it’s steamy. A real top to bottom clean happens probably every 10 or so days when it feels like it needs doing.

My family are pretty tidy in the bathroom and have made the effort to wipe away their mess and random hairs since I specifically asked for that years ago.

NeverInaMillion · 07/11/2025 22:06

Happyjoe · 06/11/2025 23:55

You need a new bathroom... then feel like cleaning and keeping it nice!
Black mildew though, be careful breathing it in, esp when having a shower, if anything to clean, that's the bit imo.. and keep a window open a crack so bathroom dries out.

And forgive me if already tried, can get industrial strength hydrochloric acid for thick limescale, but really nasty stuff to use. Must stronger than normal limescale removers we can buy from supermarkets. If not, bleach will turn the limescale back to white after a poop!

Edited

Sure, of course I need a new bathroom.
Can't afford it though.
