This has been happening for weeks and I’m baffled. No bleach has been used. No bleach in or around the machine and it’s only certain hoody’s not all. I’ve had to bin so many it’s a joke. I’ve just pulled this out of the washing machine and it’s got bleach stains, nothing else in the load has stains just this? What am I missing? Anyone had this I feel like I’m going mad! I’ve added some photos to show you what I mean.

I used to hope for big bright futures for my children. Now I just hope they don’t grow up to be the kind of embarrassing human that corrects people’s spelling and grammar on the internet.

30 people liked my post correcting the OP so it obviously bothers more people that not.

I would never correct someone usually, I think it's obnoxious, but in this case I had to make an exception and I clearly wasn't the only one for whom it really grated.

Also OP that's quite the drip feed about being a gypsy who left school at 10 - really??

Sux2buthen · 30/10/2025 18:24

Oh my god, now OPs being called a liar 🤦🏻‍♀️
On a forum of many thousands it’s hardly surprising there might be thirty sad acts 🤷🏻‍♀️
anyway, good day to you sir

This.⬆️ I kept finding bleached marks on my brand new towels and dh’s clothes and couldn’t figure out why. He hadn’t realised it had bleach in it. 🙄

OMG you’ve just solved a mystery for me, thank you 😄

So do you consider those who have dyslexia to be stupid then? I’m not dyslexic (well not to my knowledge) I am neurodivergent and also a gypsy who left school at 10. I think I do great considering…

No I don't consider them stupid. I have seen posters on here, in their OP, apologise for their spelling and explain that they are dyslexic.
But you aren't dyslexic.

I find gypsies' attitude towards education, especially education for females, to be sickening, saddening and depressing. If you were deprived of a proper education as a child because you are from that culture, then surely as an adult you would realise that your life opportunities are curtailed by your lack of education. Your opportunities would be vastly increased if you could obtain basic qualifications such as GSCEs in Maths and English, and surely you would seek out the opportunity to gain those fundamental qualifications at adult education classes, which are numerous and free for those people who never had the opportunity to gain them as teenagers.

Or maybe you simply think a woman's life should revolve around how to get stains out of her husband's hoodies, which if so, is fucking depressing in 2025.

I don’t need to apologise for spelling mistakes 🤣 if you are so appalled and offended by spelling mistakes I’d stay off the internet if I were you. Don’t want you getting a headache now.

Surely you'd hope for them not to be the kind of embarrassing adult that's so stupid (and more importantly, doesn't even care) that they can't even use the most basic primary school level of spelling and grammar.

To be so terrible at spelling in a country where schooling is compulsory till 18 yet be proud of how bad your spelling and grammar is, as shown by the OP and other posters, is the embarrassing thing.

Oh for goodness sake it’s chat on social media they aren’t sitting an English language exam. At least now we can easily go back and edit what we have got wrong on here because predictive text does change words sometimes.

But the person who goes out of their way to point it out rather than talk about what the OP has posted about will always be an arsehole if they never see the error of their ways. How do you know they haven’t got dyslexia or some other neuro condition? You obviously have perfect children but karma is a bitch and I hope it does bite you on the arse one day.

It’s really not a big deal. Some say he’s some says his we all know what we mean

It is a big deal. One is correct the other isn't.

Driftingawaynow · 30/10/2025 21:23

I’m so invested in this mystery and all the spelling chat is ruining the vibes

he is 100% leaning on something surely? Has someone put some weird product on a car seat when cleaning it or something like that?

If you look at my latest pic you will see it goes right up to the shoulder, so definitely not leaning on anything.

Actually it is a big deal, the correct word is “his” in this context. He’s is short for he is and “he is hoodies” is not a sentence.

You cannot try to convince people something is correct when it isn’t. Just accept that you are wrong.

TheDayBeforeYouCame · 31/10/2025 10:57

Never once tried to convince anyone of anything. I just don’t care enough about spelling mistakes, it’s not on my radar 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everyone knows that the abbreviation was incorrect. But 99% of posters could follow the meaning. The thread wasn't about using correct contractions and syntax and it is strange to get so worked up about a misuse of words on a chat forum.

As someone who actually writes, proofreads and edits copy for a living, I’d like to chip in here and say that people who correct strangers’ spelling, grammar and punctuation in internet forums really are the pits.

Honestly, it makes me cringe to see posters correcting someone’s punctuation for no reason other than to assert their own perceived superiority. It’s unpleasant, ill-mannered and unnecessary and reveals nothing good about you. The OP comes out of this thread looking like a much, much better person than any of you.

Do you pontificate like this every time someone on MN criticises someone else's hygiene, cooking, parenting, budgeting, fashion choices, name choices, political views etc? If not, why is it OK to be rude about those things but not OK to point out gently that "he's" is not a possessive?

Update now it’s dry.

The stain is the 80% of the whole back of the hoody. Nothing on the front or the sleeves back or front. I’ve outlined where it is on the pic and if you zoom in you can see it better. It’s even on one of the shoulders.

For a casual thing like a hoody, I'm surprised that you would throw one away with minor marks like that. At the very least, try dying it.

665theneighborofthebeast · 31/10/2025 13:27

Do you add fabric conditioner or washing powder directly into the drum?

Note with this that the fabric composition and dye make up may be different between hoodies so other peoples are not bleaching when your dh's are because the dye is less well adhered to the fabric composition.

Zoom in it’s not just the beige marks there’s streaks of a different green going through it
