Someone got caught saying the quiet part out loud, eh 😄

Why have you posted this?

Why are you asking? People are free to post whatever they want.

blacksax · 26/10/2025 12:17

The only thing that worries me is the fierce grip of the steering wheel and the intently staring eyes of all the drivers in car adverts.😂

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 11:18

I always wonder do these people not look around them eg when they are on the tube?

Maybe they don’t live in London? Crazy to imagine I know.

I do find this bizarre 😳 I can honestly say I don't notice the ethnicity of people in adverts, they're just people! Maybe it's because I'm 2nd generation immigrant myself and my husband is also, it's more normal to us? Do white people really sit there counting the number of brown and black people in adverts??

She's one white person out of millions in the UK. Don't lump me in with her please!

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 12:24

I grew up hundreds of miles from London. On my rare visits it was the first thing I noticed on the tube. Most people in the UK have been occasionally even me at that time!

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 12:24

That was to you @NeelyOHara

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 12:25

@NeelyOHara as she’s an MP I also assume she attends parliament? In London?

I’m a second gen. immigrant too. On the contrary, I have noticed that over the last few years, a lot of the adverts had a lot of mixed race actors as well as ethnic minority. At that time I wondered if this was DEI going off the rails a bit. In an effort to increase representation, it started to over-represent. The Channel 4 report has more lately put numbers behind this.

Sugarpopsicle · 26/10/2025 12:30

CloudPop · 26/10/2025 11:30

Sadly it appears that some people do exactly that. The revolting underbelly of British racism really is showing itself

I don’t think it’s fair to say that observing ethnicity is akin to racism.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2025 12:32

Reform Racist outside herself as racist. Expect more as time goes on. Reform is full of racists.

Its not DEI, its Capitalism! Selling. That's what advertising is about.🙄

Notonthestairs · 26/10/2025 12:37

Why would representation of black and Asian families drive anyone “mad”?

Well, she works in London, so . . .

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2025 12:38

Also DEI is an American concept, not British.

She has previous with making false claims about HMO's and calling for a burqa ban.

Don't be so facetious. "Seeing black and Asian people in adverts drives me mad" isn't a mere, harmless, trifling observation. It's out and out racism.

WaffleParty · 26/10/2025 12:42

Reform Party MP racist? Surely not!

it astounds me how people can convince themselves that they can vote Reform and not be handing power to the racists.

The term is but its implementation in corporations in the UK is very real.

Perhaps it's the over representation? Persons of colour in adverts are usually Black, not Asian. Ad agencies tend to be London based where there's a higher ethnic population but here in Wales it's around 6%.

BCBird · 26/10/2025 12:48

I wonder what she says in unguarded moments if she will say this in public?!!! Im mixed race- English and Caribbean. I want to see people who look like me and other minorities represented . A representation of the country is necessary. I don't feel that when I seen only minorities in advertising campaigns etc that this is a true representation of the country. I am sure there are many people who.also get annoyed. I am not racist thinking this.

Of course. It has been for over 25 years though so it’s so fascinating it’s suddenly at the forefront of so many people’s minds.

its almost like they’re feeble minded and easily influenced 🤨

I wasn't lumping you in with anyone 🙄 it was a question! Given the apparent rise in popularity of Reform, I would assume that there are plenty of people who think like her 🤔

BastardtheCat · 26/10/2025 12:49

Racist scum bag.

Why do ppl care anyway? Who switches on the TV to watch ads?
Unless an advert is horrendously sexist i don't notice them tbh.
