Ssssshhh, let’s all pretend that Reform aren’t racist so that we can vote for them and claim we aren’t racist.

Delete the thread, OP, nothing to see here.

I'm sure the op can answer for herself but why wouldn't they post it ?

IAmTheLogLady · 26/10/2025 11:02

Apparently she apologised for her poor phrasing. That's OK then.

Coffeeishot · 26/10/2025 11:03

A post on here recently said there was black and brown people on a uni prospectus, there was no white representation, I wonder if the poster was Sarah

Saucery · 26/10/2025 11:03

‘Poor phrasing’ Grin Grin

ELO10538 · 26/10/2025 11:07

It drives me mad, Sarah, seeing Reform MPs speaking bollocks, but what the heck, it's a free country.

Sits for Runcorn. Just remember having a Reform MP knocks £8K off of the value of any house in their constituency (£10K in Clacton).

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2025 11:07

She will endeavour to make sure her language is more accurate in future.

Not sure how much more accurate you can get than saying I don't like seeing black and brown faces in adverts.

Endofyear · 26/10/2025 11:10

I do find this bizarre 😳 I can honestly say I don't notice the ethnicity of people in adverts, they're just people! Maybe it's because I'm 2nd generation immigrant myself and my husband is also, it's more normal to us? Do white people really sit there counting the number of brown and black people in adverts??

Saucery · 26/10/2025 11:11

She’d like to go back to the ‘Shirley Card’ days when photography was calibrated against pictures of White people only, I expect. So it was easier just to not photograph Black people at all.

Saucery · 26/10/2025 11:11

Only the racist ones.

Notonthestairs · 26/10/2025 11:14

Advertising wants to maximise bums on seats, purses open/Apple pay at the ready. It’s not wokery, it’s capitalism.

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 11:17

More diverse adverts cheer me up.

Onceuponatimethen · 26/10/2025 11:18

I always wonder do these people not look around them eg when they are on the tube?

Well I do notice it because it’s so different from what I grew up with but I also wholeheartedly welcome it. Apart from the background of my own family, which is muddled and the intergenerational effects almost beyond explanation, my life is richer for the mix of people I’ve lived and do live amongst. To the extent that I now would actively not wish to live in a place that didn’t have immigrants, and people of different heritages.

I loathe Reform and people who talk like this woman. If we’re going back to the anti racist marches and demonstrations of the 70s and 80s then I hope I will have the energy and commitment to stand up and be counted. If I’m arrested then that’ll be a badge of honour.

Wasn’t there an uproar when one of the supermarkets used black actors to portray the family in their Christmas advertisement a couple of years ago? So some people obviously do.

The only thing I ever notice is the very corporate photos where they’ve clearly gone out of their way to meet every single diversity quota ever (Muslim woman wearing a hijab in a wheelchair with a rainbow lanyard kind of thing).

Zempy · 26/10/2025 11:28

Well at least she’s admitting that she’s mad!

Disgusting racist.

Bambamhoohoo · 26/10/2025 11:29

I love this idea that anyone should give a shit what drives some random woman mad. They’re not even intelligent enough to frame it as a concern, just “drives me mad”.

the fact shes talking about adverts when watching live TV with adverts is so old fashioned confirms everything we know about the reform and their target audience

Same???! If it’s an ad the focus is the product surely and anyone in the ad to me is just a person ! I don’t register skin colour at all in this context ?

Sadly it appears that some people do exactly that. The revolting underbelly of British racism really is showing itself

CrocusVase · 26/10/2025 11:33

I have to say the only time I noticed ethnicity recently was at the theatre, where one of the lead adult characters was black but the child playing the younger version of the character (much smaller part) was white. There was no reason for the character to be any specific ethnicity, but I did think they should have cast a child who could conceivably have grown up to be the adult in question!

tinytemper66 · 26/10/2025 11:41

Rael Braverman agreed with her. He must hate seeing his wife and kids then…

spoonbillstretford · 26/10/2025 11:43

I can't believe the racist comments under some ads on Facebook. Horrifying that an MP feels she can say this out loud.

What stage of Nazi indoctrination are we at now in the UK? 1935?

spoonbillstretford · 26/10/2025 11:46

Sarah Pochin must be driven mad in the House of Commons and as she travels through London.

MossRose · 26/10/2025 11:53

It drives me mad seeing TV full of Reform MP's, but I guess we can't always get what we want.
