A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Well she may as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb. She's toast, as is Starmer.

If she goes he has to as well.

EasternStandard · 29/10/2025 20:57

That's the only reason Reeves is still there. She's a fucking Starmer handmaiden.

Anyway, we shouldn't be too mean, don't want to make her cry again.

In his Poem to Posterity, Brecht offered an explanation of far left excess and a partial justification for his own support for the crimes of Stalin.

Even the hatred of squalor
Makes the brow grow stern.
Even anger against injustice
Makes the voice grow harsh. Alas, we
Who wished to lay the foundations of kindness
Could not ourselves be kind.

His lines endure because they acknowledge a truth about political commitment.

Brecht understood that the certainty of your virtue will lead you into cruelty. Leftwing men can treat women appallingly and leftwing agitators can mimic the language and tactics of the far right.
**
The Left are so convinced of their righteousness they cannot admit their fault.

From the G.

Pitiful aren’t they, the left wing, these days. Or laughable. Or both. Incompetent and nasty, certainly.

Labour are a one term pony at this rate, they will try maverick things in the budget sadly to disrupt a dead cert loss.

On Brexit - I didn’t vote for it but at root I don’t see how we can ever get past it and back to a
common market until we can get a grip on immigration. I can’t see politics returning to the centre until reasonable people can see we have a working process with manageable numbers.

Breaking their manifesto pledges, so blatantly, may well prove the coup de grace for this dead government walking.

The electorate will crucify them.

Thing is they won’t raise taxes on people who earn below 45k. Which is a lot of people.

TheNuthatch · 29/10/2025 21:05

This is so true

It’s only in the DM at the moment but expect it will spread soon

Expect Starmer to be along soon to offer her his full support.

The death knell ☠️

I agree. Until we finally sort out immigration, we're stuck.
The left need to get their heads around this aswell, but they won't.

Edited

It is, but hitting the highest earners has enormous consequences for the wider economy, including many of those who earn 45k, or below.

They are not immune from it - and Labour’s policies will continue to have a negative impact on the labour market, SME’s etc.

Yes, thats what Labour don't seem to grasp. It will cost jobs, raise rents and put the cost of goods and services up, as we saw with the NI and NMW rise at the last budget.
People will notice and feel that, even if they are not directly impacted.

I think I am pro the income tax rose if it’s across the board. Ish. If the Tories were in and there were this level of crap economically, I would be fine with breaking this particular manifesto promise. It was made in total ignorance. Labour are amateurs who thought they could tinker round the edges, punch some “rich” people in the face and sail into the sunset. They’ve squandered any tender shoots of growth they inherited plus the lower inflation, pissed off most of the electorate except diehards who will accept anything from them, and surely can see they’re floundering as the inexperienced fuckwits they are. Crushed small business particularly.

So fine. Slap on 2p everywhere and raise the tax free level to maybe £15k so state pensions aren’t drawn in next year? Fix the 100k cliff edge? Or at least try?

Of course. But all they’ll hear is they’re not being taxed. So it’s alright guv. Economics is not understood

I think they’re losing support weekly. There’s a few left on here but it’s getting low.

AbsentosaurusRex · 29/10/2025 21:20

Ps. I’m thinking about who the hell is going to present the budget if RR is booted. And further - did she drop this clanger so that she Doesn’t have to present such a shit budget.

Don’t underestimate the power that comes with being paid for doing fck all.

Upstartled · 29/10/2025 21:23

Well, if they're not really workers, are they really paying tax? Welcome to the, 'there-is-no-spoon' autumn budget.

upseedaisee · 29/10/2025 21:24

Blimey. I go out on the piss for lunch and we have yet another incursion, and Reevesey cooking her own books. She has to go this time, both Rayner and Rashana Ali have gone on the strength of their housing woes so it's reasonable to espect the same for Reeves.

upseedaisee · 29/10/2025 21:28

Oh and thank you all for your birthday wishes. Me and my mate next door are very appreciative! ❤

Yes I agree, but this is Labour. They may put income tax up for everyone which I agree would be fairer. But they will still feel the need to punch some 'rich' people in the face, it's how they roll. They actually enjoy doing it.

No way should they get off the hook for this. Not after the reaction to Sunak saying they would increase taxes.

They deserve to be eviscerated for lying, and lying again after the last budget.

V good question.

I suspect that Starmer will decide which way to go after the budget (assuming Reeves is taken out) i.e. does he need her to go so he can deal with the back benches on welfare cuts.

Upstartled · 29/10/2025 21:44

I love this, from the spokesperson though:

'This was an inadvertent mistake, and in the spirit of transparency she has made the Prime Minister, the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Standards and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards aware'

It looks like a cut and paste job to me.
