A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I don’t know @strawberrybubblegum if the govt had any real intent of governing for people working hard they’d be looking to make it a bit clearer!

what happened to rights and responsibilities? We seem to live in an age where we only talk about rights.

That is interesting. So home office means Shabana Mahmood knew. Did she tell Kier Starmer? Will the truth of that ever come out?

Was there ever such a dishonest, scheming, evil government in the UK?

They probably pin it on a lackey in the department and pretend they never got the memo. See China.

Upstartled · 17/10/2025 15:53

Turns out Joanne Rowley, head of the Birmingham city council, who banned Israeli football fans is another anti-Semite.

DH was incensed about the football, he doesn't watch it. His response. Cancel the match if all aren't welcomed.

Yes I think he is correct.

100%

I don't think cancelling the game is the right thing to do. That would send the wrong message in my view.
The police should be stepping up and doing their bloody job.

This. It should never have got to this point. It's a bloody football game FFS!
Back in the eighties, this would have been a typical saturday for most forces up and down the country. Todays Police haven't a barking clue how to crowd control and keep the peace. It's all too hurty and #bekind. Makes my skin crawl.

Upstartled · 17/10/2025 16:25

Yes, agreed. What does it say about the state of the country if it neither has the will or the resources to manage a football match?

Birmingham is bankrupt how will they pay outside police?

Maybe they could get those layabout bin men to do it? 😂

Seriously though, if this needs national coordination then it needs to be paid for out of the national coffers.

I agree with you. We should be able to deal with a football match, not cancel it. So much has gone wrong to get to this point.

Its the messaging for me.
The home sec should have made it crystal clear a week ago that banning Israeli fans from the UK was not an option.

Thanks Dancing 😁
I love reading Boris, always makes me smile. At least he had the sense to put someone with half a brain in the treasury when he was PM.

Oh bore off Labour.
Let me guess, our Bridge was too poor to afford a birthday cake growing up 🙄.

The grandkids have never been allowed to take anything in because of disadvantaged families not being able to afford it.

However, the article has Wales nutty ideas written all over it. They're fiddling while Wales burns with strange ideas.

Apparently they could afford candles but no cake. So they used a turnip instead, and put the candles on that. Bridget was grateful for she knew, how much the turnip had cost her poor mum.

Banned cake and sweets to promote healthy eating?!? Maybe look to the godawful food served in schools at our expense before having a fit of the vapours over a birthday treat.

😂😂 All I'm seeing is Baldrick done up in a pinny and a 70's perm.

CruCru · 17/10/2025 18:04

Fruit platters are usually much more expensive than some birthday cake.

Wrt the football, everyone has in mind what happened in Amsterdam.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/aston-villa-maccabi-ban-amsterdam-football-riot-b2847167.html

Frankly the rest of us shouldn’t need to pay to manage troubles brought into the uk from another conflict. We saw in Amsterdam the issues that can arise.

Cancelling one group of fans is not the answer and is clearly, idiotic at best.

However in the current climate, I’d be tempted to say the match is cancelled - or it goes ahead without spectators.

No more fcking tax payers money and police rescue spent on idiots who just want to fight and cause trouble (both sides).

The football riot that led police to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from Aston Villa game

Keir Starmer has criticised the ban and said ‘we will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets’
