A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I think Appenzell is probably a NC from the Starmer thread. Funny really.

DancingFerret · 13/10/2025 23:42

China and our national security is a big concern; it's time for KS to stop Trump-bothering (as well as hopping on a plane to far-flung destinations at every opportunity) and get on with the job for which he was elected. Oh, wait...

This is the moment where Starmer (who was one of the last to be mentioned by Trump) goes up to the podium to speak, but is sent back to his place by Trump. He looks so offended!. The arrogance and delusion of the man thinking anyone wanted to listen to her had to say.

Comedy gold.

The look on Starmer’s boat - that’s a GIF to add to the one of a blubbing Reeves.

Brilliant.

What's that got to do with dismissing other people's life experience without any knowledge?

What’s with joining a thread only to bait?

You may want to consider if you really want to open the portal ‘to the other side’…

I asked you a straightforward question about what makes you so knowledgeable about other peoples' lives.

I asked you a straightforward question about what makes you so knowledgeable about other peoples' lives.

I draw conclusions from what some others post about - I generally stay away from posting about subjects of which I have little or no knowledge, or I caveat it.

Others, clearly, do not - and they are simply married to a position.

Nolletimiere · 14/10/2025 06:35

@Appenzell

Now then, to ascertain whether you are posting in good faith.

The title of this thread is Labour is not working.

Your comments, please.

I see we had another driveby last night from another leftie knowitall. Are they taking turns do you think?

twistyizzy · 14/10/2025 07:30

We seem to be triggering them a lot recently. Desperation?

upseedaisee · 14/10/2025 07:42

We do indeed. Buyers remors maybe?
This one is very active on the Remain government thread.

I wouldn't call it comedy gold if I was a British citizen. Trump is a bully and a narc who delights in intimidating/domineering other PMs for his own self of gratification. Unfortunately, too many leaders in western countries with economies exposed to exports to the US, are finding themselves in the same boat.

The opposite was Pedro Sanchez (Spain's PM) and the handshake with Trump. It was fascinating to watch the corporal language, pull/push in a handshake. But Sanchez is Spain's PM, the country with the biggest economy growth in the EU (40% of its total growth) and Spain diversified exports long ago and their exposure to Trump is limited. Starmer, unfortunately, doesn't have much room to manoeuvre.

strawberrybubblegum · 14/10/2025 07:43

Cognitive dissonance: as all the things they expected to happen based on their world view... haven't.

LupaMoonhowl · 14/10/2025 07:46

Really better not to engage with them -please can we just ignore the goaders and goady comments?

twistyizzy · 14/10/2025 07:49

This is a good article about how we should return to schools being places of education not social work. The creep towards them being judged on the social care they offer means government priorities are all wrong.
Exactly like Bigot's "free" breakfast clubs and her mission to end child poverty. Great but you are SoS for Education, not child poverty or social services. She is accelerating this role of schools as social service dept eg tooth brushing, mental health providers etc. Those things sit with SS not education!

Agree

Uk unemployment rises to 4.8% - the highest since May 2021.

Who would have thought that taxing employers would result in that?? Are we all shocked?

upseedaisee · 14/10/2025 08:05

I've honestly never understood there being such a need to push a university education,There are a lot of people, who have little to no interest in education but still feel they 'must' go to uni. All it does in reality is pile a load of debt on young people who will rarely get to use their degree in a professional capacity.
I really think there should be more avenues open for those children who are either not interested or not clever enough for uni. However the cynic in says there is little money in providing a vocation.
It's not as if you can't get on without a degree, I just wish there were more vocational training options available for people to take advantage of.

It's an awful doomloop. Every time a socialist government are returned to office public spending goes up, the NHS suffers, the private workforce decreases, businesse fold, unemployment goes up taxes go up, bonds market is shot to pieces, financial markets go into freefall, division and despair abounds and now I've depressed myself as I can't see things getting any better till Labour have gone.😥

You make a fair point, and I agree with some of your post. Sanchez is in the dog house over his lack of nato spending. I agree with Trump on that one.
Starmer is his own worst enemy with Trump. He has tried to present himself as some kind of Trump whisperer, and in doing so, has made himself look ridiculous. There was no reason whatsoever for Starmer to step towards that podium when Trump was speaking. He made a fool of himself (again), and I make no apology for laughing at him. He is despised by much of the population here in the UK.

Sanchez is not in the dog house in Spain. Sanchez refused to raise Spain's 5% NATO expenditure to fight Trump/US wars, knowing who will pay for it - average income earners paying more tax and getting less services in health and education. He's been the only western leader with the balls to say no to Trump instead of folding like a house of cards.

The handshake between them made it clear.

It's a behaviour observed in the animal world.

Wasps, for example have the most vicious sting when they feel threatened.

Best left alone!

Spain should leave NATO, then, surely?

They can reallocate the funds to net zero.

Yes. they come, they spread the scent of Chanel and some wisdom.

Are we all converted now to the one and only true thinking?
