I gasped when I heard this. What happened to him in Dubai was so wrong and the mother of the girl is a vindictive racist bitch.

I feel so sorry for the parents - so much heartbreak for them. I really feel for them x

Seriously, read your post again - particularly the last bullet-point. Never before have I read such staggering shit that leaps to explain a mother’s action that results in a young black male being imprisoned as a means of keeping her daughter from getting into cars that might result in a police pursuit and the loss of life?

Read your post another time, and then read mine. Is this what you mean or are you being reckless / irresponsible in your attempt at critical thinking. Seriously, do better.

Why do you assume the mother and daughter weren’t black too?

I think there are people quick to vilify others without knowing the facts. We don’t know why the mother reported him. Calling her vindictive without knowing all the facts is silly.

They are not black. Their religion is Sikh. And 'silly' has no place here. A young man has lost his life. Systemic racism is at the very core of this heartbreaking tragedy.

None of this is silly.

Clavinova · 04/10/2025 12:48

Thebigonesgetaway
The girl was a few months younger than him

His legal team felt it necessary to lie about his age to the media, albeit by 6 months or so. He would have turned 20 in January - the girl is probably still 18 now, not quite 19. He was probably around 10 months older than the girl.

The girls mother is totally to blame imo - definitely racist intentions behind her reporting to the authorities in Dubai. I hope the family and community around her has judged her accordingly.

Right, it is sad that she is so incapable of controlling her own child, is it not?

The police were chasing after the car to Give him feedback on his homework were they?
Pathetic the lengths people will go to defend

NamelessNancy · 04/10/2025 12:52

It reads like some of you think his death might not have been a tragedy depending on the circumstances in which he died. Surely that can't be right? Who thinks like that? I'm enormously sad for his family and for the loss of a young man who'd already been through so much.

I am sure you were quick to voice your disgust at the police after the Sarah Edwards case though, right?

madaboutpurple · 04/10/2025 12:53

This news was so sad, his family must have been so pleased he returned and now they have to bury the young man. RIP indeed. It is a sad weekend of news.

Racist people think like that.

Could you give some sort of explanation around how they were similar situations?

Foolish young men will be risk takers. I feel horrible for his family.

He was a passenger. 😡

No. You will need to debate your whataboutery with someone else @HRchatter .

What an absolutely vile thing to say

You should be ashamed

FutureMarchionessOfVidal · 04/10/2025 10:29

Absolutely awful. Such a beautiful young man and so much tragedy. Terrible. I hate to think what his family are suffering.

Also I hope that very serious questions will be added about why the car was pursued in the first place & the potential role of racial profiling in that decision - see in particular recent stories about Charing Cross.

And as for PP who seemingly think the penalty for having an irresponsible friend should be death- well, words fail me.

It was likely persued for dangerous driving considering the driver then went on to drive so dangerously he had a fatal accident.
If the police hadn't pursued them in that situation and they'd hit a pedestrian or child the police would be blamed for knowingly leaving them driving like that.

WeeGeeBored · 04/10/2025 13:02

Everythinghascrumbled · 04/10/2025 09:59

Why does it make you angry about the mother who reported him for something unrelated? She wasn’t driving the car ? This likely would have happened anyway ?

i don’t blame her for his death but I am angry about what she did. She is an anti black racist.

Where does it state the girls ethnicity?
We have no idea what led to the mother reporting it.

WolfingtonBear · 04/10/2025 13:03

So the girl was Sikh, the young man was Black of likely African descent, the “offence” took place in the UAE, and broke UAE law but somehow it’s down to “systemic racism”?

Oh, of course the driver was trying to get away from a police pursuit because he was going to be late for church 🙄

Kulwinder54 · 04/10/2025 13:05

You would think this young man would have been extremely careful about what he did and who he hung out with upon release from prison, avoiding any kind of trouble with the law. It seems like either very poor judgement on his part or extremely bad luck.
