Reed Diffusers That Actually, Properly, Really Scent A Room?

Usually I'm happy with The White Company ones, but I think they've changed the formula because their 'throw' is nowhere near as good anymore. Are the Valentte ones any good? Or please recommend your favourite.

I treated myself to a ridiculously expensive ortegia one a while back and it was no good at all. I honestly find cheapo cristalinas ones a mile better!

St. Eval is good, walked into my dad’s the other day and it smelt beautiful.

ConkersEverywhere · 02/10/2025 15:18

This, very strong throw and lasts a very long time. I'm sure the one in one of my receptions must be getting on for ten months now.

We gave up on reed ones because none seem to last or having any power. Now use air wick plug ins, and even after a month (and more if you’ve had the door/curtains closed!) you can still notice it!

Please only use these while you’re supervising! They are a massive fire risk.

AmpleLilacQuail · 02/10/2025 15:20

The best ones I’ve had were Stoneglow and Next. I make sure to flip the reeds every few weeks and I replace the reeds every few months too, it def makes a difference.

I also have a Jo Malone candle that gives an amazing scent to my hall - I’ve never tried their diffusers but would imagine they are good if you want a real treat!!

DappledThings · 02/10/2025 15:22

I've never found a diffuser or a candle that smelt of anything unless I've got my nose right in it.

Bit of a reed expert here, my favourite is.. Asda. Especially the rose and oud one, which of course seems to be discontinued. Everyone who came into my house commented on it, it isn't an overpowering or chemical type smell either.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/10/2025 15:30

Max Benjamin. Absolutely gorgeous and long lasting.
I also turn the reeds every few weeks

Ooh I love St Eval candles!

Valentte smell pleasant, but last a very very short time. The reviews on their website are positive, but if you look on Trust Pilot, it’s a different story.

I got sucked into them on Instagram and I can not believe how they have gone down hill. Really disappointed.

Lou802 · 02/10/2025 16:39

Please don't use these if you have cats as the essential oils can be toxic for them.

Arraminta · 02/10/2025 16:41

Thank you, thank you. But so much choice! I'm going to order a few and do a comparison test.

The Asda Rose and Oud stuff was amazing. The candles are among the best I've ever tried and they were only a fiver. I managed to get some Rose Oud room spray before they discontinued it all.

I use them and I have cats. They're safe as long as you put them out of reach.

I have neom in small rooms just as downstairs toilets and ensuits. I prefer the electric diffusers as they pump out smells for larger areas

RJ2023 · 02/10/2025 17:46

I'll buy any brand that don't have bungs that are near enough impossible to remove. It caused me to spill one all over a shelf in my bedroom and it stripped the white gloss paint off almost instantly. So annoying! 😡

apetol · 02/10/2025 18:10

Lidl Deluxe Ceremony of Scent Diffuser- Green Garden has the best throw. Seems to be a dupe of the Rituals one, THE RITUAL OF JING

BreakfastClub80 · 02/10/2025 18:16

Chapter Organics diffuser has lasted well, it is in a small room but much better than previous alternatives.

BleakAF · 02/10/2025 18:37

ORTIGA - they have palm trees and leopards on them. We have a couple that scent the rooms with a lovely, low key smell. Cannot remember what flavour but all lush.

I currently have one from Dome, smells wonderful as soon as I enter the room whereas I can't even smell the habitat one I have in a different room, there was a big difference in price mind.

I love Ortiga @BleakAF , have their shower gel and soaps. I've never bought the diffusers but I might have a look.
