All Bran….What are Kellogg’s thinking?!?

I realise this isn’t a big issue in the scheme of things but I’ve been eating this for years because it “works” and now they changed the recipe to hideously hard tasteless sticks. A quick Google says this is ‘to reduce food waste’. WTF?

My ds eats the Asda own make High Bran. Seems to find them ok

DBSFstupid · 22/09/2025 19:43

They did this a few years ago with Mcvities Digestive biscuits, they are foul now. Also Mcvities plain chocolate digestives do not taste the same.

Fruit pastilles, smarties, Cadbury's chocolate all taste and smell of sick.
( I think the American company Mondelez own Cadbury's now. American chocolate is awful).

I know these are sweet treats but so much of food tastes like crap now.
Younger people know nothing different so these company's have got away with it.

PhilMitchellsleatherbomber · 22/09/2025 19:46

Digestive biscuits are absolutely foul now, they are anaemic in colour and taste like shit, never buying them again.

It's so awful isn't it? I've eaten them for over 40 years.
What do McVities think they're playing at? They can't hoodwink us all.
I still buy them occasionally hoping for a different outcome! Nope, out to the Birds they go!

BamberGirl · 22/09/2025 19:55

I know!!!! The texture is weird now too, they’re nowhere near as nice.
i think they now look and (don’t) taste like Morrisons own brand ones.

GellerYeller · 22/09/2025 20:02

Can we add Galaxy chocolate to the list? Bought a bar the other day and thought it had gone off.
Expectation: creamy, silken chunks of chocolatey deliciousness.
Reality: Skinny, miserly slithers of compacted wax crayon that may have been briefly in the vicinity of cheap cocoa powder..

What a pointless claim. Making inedible shite creates far more food waste, surely?!

Yes! Galaxy used to be my favourite chocolate! But it's disgusting now!

BackinBlack24 · 22/09/2025 20:06

Apparently own brands are actually much better quality and held to a higher standard than the named brands (I’m open to correction on that if I’m wrong) might be worth looking into maybe an own brand I’m sure Aldi have one no ?

Teletex · 22/09/2025 20:07

I’ll never get over what they did to Cadburys chocolate. However, All Bran tastes of Brown and turns to mush dust in the milk. It must be flipping grim if they’ve ruined it.

sorry OP

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 22/09/2025 20:07

I used to make a cake with it, it was similar to malt loaf.

I bought some hobnobs as a treat a while ago - they were nothing like I remember them, not a treat at all 😩

Nifty50something · 22/09/2025 20:15

You're absolutely right, OP! I bought some All Bran the other day for the first time in ages and noticed this immediately. The sticks are so hard now they're difficult to chew and I also didn't find it anywhere near as effective. If definitely be interested in a good own brand All Bran if there is one.

It’s since Mars were taken over by Kraft (I think it was Kraft, an American company certainly if not them). American chocolate, as someone points out up thread tastes disgusting, oily and nasty. It’s due to the palm oil they put in it rather than milk or cream. I always check the ingredients list of any chocolate I may buy now and won’t buy any that has palm oil in it.

How dare these big, very well established multi billionaire brands muck around with their old and successful recipes like this.
I know in the scheme of things it's not worth getting upset about but it's these companies not being upfront about it that annoys me!

And really sweet. A few month’s ago I treated myself to a larger bar than normal as I hadn’t had it for a long time and I used to love it. Was shocked by how awful it was, not it’s usual creamy taste and how horribly sweet it was. I haven’t bought it again since and was annoyed I’d bought such a big bar. So is it American now?

Beamur · 22/09/2025 20:20

Squashies have changed. Don't buy them anymore.
Lidl delish chocolate cereal has changed. Won't be buying it again.
So annoying.

MissyB1 · 22/09/2025 20:22

For digestives try M&S own.

ThreePears · 22/09/2025 20:34

'Reduce food waste' my arse. They have changed the recipe to cheaper ingredients and are doing it solely to increase profits.

Me too… I’ve made one so far this week to use some up, and I’ll be making another. Had to tweak the recipe a bit cos it was so dry

Try M&S plain chocolate digestives. They are perfect 👌

OddBoots · 22/09/2025 21:26

Quality has definitely decreased, it really isn't worth brand name stuff any more. It is like they are seeing what they can get away with.

Crucible · 22/09/2025 21:33

Goodness yes i bought all bran today and its crap. It looks utterly uniform, tastes weird. I need to find the best own brand version. What have they done?
