All Bran….What are Kellogg’s thinking?!?

I realise this isn’t a big issue in the scheme of things but I’ve been eating this for years because it “works” and now they changed the recipe to hideously hard tasteless sticks. A quick Google says this is ‘to reduce food waste’. WTF?

Relatedly, United Biscuits have quietly stopped production of the only savoury biscuit worth eating, Fortt’s Bath Olivers. They were my absolute favourite for cheese, or for eating dry (especially if not feeling well). Noticed they weren’t on the shelves any more and did some research. Cancelled, with no notice so I couldn’t even stock up. 😡😡😡

No! Bath Olivers are the ultimate cheese biscuit. I hadn’t seen them in a while but now I know why. Devastating!

@olderandnonthewiserthanks so much for starting this thread, brilliant to read from @Shangrilalalathat what I’ve got is a different version! I’m off to hunt the original down!

On the subject of Cadbury’s chocolate going to shit when Mondelez bought it, I have found an almost-the-same-as-old-Cadbury replacement.

It is called Marabou, and it is made by ….. Mondelez! No palm oil in the delicious Marabou chocolate that they sell to our scandi and Northern European friends; just crappy palm oil for the UK market Angry

IKEA used to sell Marabou but don’t any more (please bring it back, IKEA), a couple of online/London Scandinavian shops sell it, and it is available in the shops in Scandinavia and northern Germany (and other places?).

It is very very similar to old style Cadbury Dairy Milk, though perhaps a bit more Galaxy-silky than Dairy Milk was. Not as silly as old-school Galaxy though, definitely closer to Dairy Milk.

I like both Waitrose and Lidl own brand digestives and chocolate digestives over the McVities wafer thin offerings these days.

Shangrilalala · 26/09/2025 13:10

Picture of both side by side on the shelf at Waitrose this morning. If it wasn’t for the size of the packs, they are near identical. Think I’m getting obsessed 🤣

This shouldn't be allowed! It feels deliberate. People are bound to pick up the wrong one.

Can recommend M+S version... never liked All bran though tbh. Tasted minty for some reason.

olderandnonthewiser · 26/09/2025 16:20

The response I had from kelloggs very clearly said the recipe has changed so finding Original is going to get harder as stocks are used I guess.

Aldi dark chocolate digestives are as good as McVities and only 77p

I contacted Kellogg’s yesterday… they gave me loads of flannel about less waste and more efficient production 🙄 and said my feedback had been noted.

DH also eats KAB and prefers the new recipe as he says the larger sticks are less likely to go soggy before finishing them. They taste the same as the previous recipe in his opinion. I also eat them from time to time and think they taste the same.
