All Bran….What are Kellogg’s thinking?!?

I realise this isn’t a big issue in the scheme of things but I’ve been eating this for years because it “works” and now they changed the recipe to hideously hard tasteless sticks. A quick Google says this is ‘to reduce food waste’. WTF?

@Shangrilalala Ah, I've just seen that Kellogg's confirmed to your DH that it still exists. I'm heartened by this: I thought maybe the Amazon supplies were end-of-line stock. That's cheered me up!

Antimimisti · 23/09/2025 08:05

Oh, no - the sticks no longer disintegrate? I like to leave All Bran before eating until it's mushy.

Bambamhoohoo · 23/09/2025 08:06

Oh! I just thought my current box was extra “dusty”!! Didn’t realise they’d changed it

Although I am super excited by a fibre PLUS version

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 23/09/2025 08:19

More and more lately I'm finding the cheaper own supermarket brands are nicer than the big companies goods, especially chocolate. Which i take as a win.
Tbh, I rarely eat boxed cereals anymore, so dusty, tasteless and expensive. The exception being Lidls bran flakes and Muesli.
Kelloggs went in the bin years ago.

Footle · 23/09/2025 08:27

I’ve been buying original AllBran when I see it. The new recipe looks and tastes as if it contains insoluble fibre, and it doesn’t work.
Very pleased to hear they’re not discontinuing the original. And I hope that’s true.

borntobequiet · 23/09/2025 08:35

The “vomit” taste is actually due to the different way the milk is processed that increases the amount of butyric acid, which has a rancid taste. It helps increase shelf life.
Aldi chocolate is good, but Lidl chocolate is better.

Sorry forgot the quote…

PensionMention · 23/09/2025 08:59

Oil is being added to chocolate, actual bastard coconut oil is in Lindt chocolate now. It was the only chocolate I really liked.

olderandnonthewiser · 23/09/2025 09:00

I can’t find ‘Original’ either and would like to confirm the new version doesn’t ‘work’ either, so save yourselves the couple of hours it takes to eat it

I always dread it when I read words like new and improved! Usually means inedible or just does not work as well anymore, as in washing powders, shampoos, etc

And a smaller box for the same price in the hope the 'new' bit will distract you from noticing.

4forksache · 23/09/2025 12:31

So that’s why it’s been hard to find 🥲

Theyreeatingthedogs · 23/09/2025 12:36

Most of this is not food. It's UPF crap and by the sound of it not very enjoyable. Eat food, mostly plants, not too much. Apples still taste like apples. Smug? Moi?

Oh I like fibre. All bran has 8g for 30g, an apple has about 1g. I know which one I’ll prioritise when trying to get my 30g today 💪🏻

Tillygan60 · 23/09/2025 12:47

Thought it locked different this time.....and the taste, or lack of it!! Back to the " original" style own brands from Tesco and Sainsburys
now!

UpToonGirl · 23/09/2025 12:52

I am one of the few who likes AB for the taste as well as 'results' and I'm gutted. I've never found any 'improved' product better and I've never met anyone who does either! Not just food but makeup and skin care as well.

LidlAmaretto · 23/09/2025 13:05

they changed the recipe to hideously hard tasteless sticks
How's that different to what they were like before?

myopinionis · 23/09/2025 13:09

ThreePears · 22/09/2025 20:34

'Reduce food waste' my arse. They have changed the recipe to cheaper ingredients and are doing it solely to increase profits.

Perhaps it means they found some food waste from another product which they gunge together to make cheaper all bran?

RaininSummer · 23/09/2025 13:16

My partner bought my chocolate last week. I don't eat it often but both Galaxy and Cadbury were vile. They were soft and greasy with no chocolate taste at all. Both contained horrible palm oil and way too sweet.

GellerYeller · 23/09/2025 20:26

Shade17 · 22/09/2025 22:38

Slivers!

Yes I spotted that after posting! 😊🤦‍♀️

Ilikewinter · 23/09/2025 20:46

It was Terry's chocolate orange that broke me!, it's a Christmas tradition, only last year's went in the bin.... horrible slimy taste. I can honestly say that was the last bit of chocolate I've eaten - gutted !

SilverCamellia · 24/09/2025 08:09

Phone the company and complain. I did. They came out with some rubbish about it being better. Apparently some of the bran is replaced by flour now so beware if you are gluten intolerant. The only way to get it changed is for everyone to complain and stop buying it.

olderandnonthewiser · 24/09/2025 09:05

I contacted Kellogg’s yesterday… they gave me loads of flannel about less waste and more efficient production 🙄 and said my feedback had been noted.

I echo the recommendation for Asda high bran

TheGrimSmile · 24/09/2025 09:17

I like mine with freshly squeezed orange juice on it rather than milk. It's so delicious. I prefer the sticks that don't disintegrate but supermarket own do disintegrate so just buy those instead.
