Tommy Robinson, Hitler and wooden crosses

noblegiraffe · 12/09/2025 16:33

Tommy Robinson is having his 'Festival of Free Speech' in London tomorrow.

I'm also seeing attempts on social media to rehabilitate his image as a 'concerned citizen' and pleas from him to keep things civil, not wear masks and not drink alcohol. Jolly good.

So let's be clear that he has also posted an image promoting his 'free speech festival' standing with Ant Middleton next to a bus, number 88. The far right will be well aware of the use of the number 88 to denote 'Heil Hitler' where H is the 8th letter of the alphabet. This is not an accident.

He has also posted on social media that he is planning to bring a large number of wooden crosses to his 'free speech festival'. This would appear to be an odd choice for a free speech festival but makes more sense if you want to bang on about how England is a Christian Country and Muslims are Not Welcome.

Either way, he is trying to appeal to a wider crowd while at the same time signalling to his racist contingent that it's business as usual.

If anyone thinks that Tommy Robinson really likes Jewish people they are utterly delusional. It's based on 2 things, after the Holocaust open anti semitism is a bit harder to sell and they are Not Muslims. Anyone openly using a symbol that means Heil Hitler in a photo on their Twitter/X only has one intention and it isn't a respect for Judaism.

People using the St Georges Cross like a swastika, ditto.

Edited

He admires the current Israeli government for their fascism and hatred of the Palestinians, not for their Judaism. He is a dedicated Islamophobe.

I imagine that he would have been marching with Oswald Moseley's fascists in the 1930s.

Apologies for this being a link to the Daily Mail but that is deliberate in case anyone wants to dismiss the images and reporting as "Leftie propaganda".

An excerpt for anyone who doesn't want to read

Posting on social media at around 3pm, a Met Police spokesperson said: 'A crowd of 'Unite the Kingdom' protesters attempted to enter the sterile area on Whitehall that is place to keep the two protests apart.
'Officers were attacked with projectiles and have had to use force to avoid their cordon being breached.'
They then added: 'We continue to see significant aggression directed at officers by Unite the Kingdom protesters. We have deployed additional officers with protective equipment in multiple locations, supported by police horses, to deal with the disorder.
'Footage posted by the Met appeared to show a group of anti-migrant protesters lashing out at police officers, who responded by using their riot shields to push them back.'

Colour me utterly shocked @Uricon2.

Another quote for anyone who thinks this march is in any way celebrating "freedom" of any kind

Other speakers included New Zealand Christian fundamentalist Brian Tamaki, who told the crowd: 'Christianity versus the rest. Islam, Hinduism, Bahai, Buddhism, whatever else you're into — they're all false. We gotta clean our countries up.
'Ban any type of public expression in our Christian nation from other religions. Ban halal. Ban burqas. Ban mosques, temples, shrines. We don't want those in our countries.'

As is keeping men out of women's changing rooms apparently. I guess all that's left to say to the accusation of being far-right is "And?"
I've voted Labour for most of my life but...OK...this is the world we live in now

So the rise of fascism is a small price to pay to keep men out of women's changing rooms?

I would imagine that the demographics of the marchers will be similar to those who participated in the Southport and other riots. Lots of convictions for domestic violence so hardly people who care about the safety of women.

YearoftheSnake · 13/09/2025 17:17

He's no Nazi, he's containment. Same with Farage who I would bet money is out of Britain in less than a decade. I have began to make peace with the fact England is over. And I've been chewing over if Anglos should be here at all. Celts and Gaels aren't keen on us, and England itself feels increasingly like a stranger. Such a weird time to live through

These tourist areas that you 'stepped outside'. Did anything awful happen to you? What exactly does Africa 'feel like'?

I'm not sure but I stopped and old man along the way hoping to find some some old forgotten words or ancient melodies.

The authoritarian, fascist approach to 'free speech' and freedom of expression.

There are so many flying monkeys popping up on here at the moment too. Faux naive threads are the new fashion. All trying to push the needle and normalise his ideology. We've had years of Farridge and friends pushing their boiling frog propaganda and now people are nicely warmed up, the envelope is being pushed further. We see you.

Brian Tamaki has previously described himself as a "spiritual Jew" and a Zionist so he's not a Nazi

He can call himself what he wants, he isn't Jewish. Did you not notice

Ban any type of public expression in our Christian nation from other religions

He couldn't even be bothered to add "except Judaism" (addendum "which we've revoltingly tried to hijack as a shield because we're not anti semites, oh no not us")

ETA sincere apologies to @YearoftheSnake because I realise you could have meant that ironically.

Yes, I see what you're saying.

I don't know much about him other than he's a Christian Zionist and based on what you've said, opposes all other religions. Which seems a bit extreme but I know that there's a lot of antisemitism that comes from Islam for one... Oct 7th being one horrific example of that.

From my understanding Christian Zionists (Dispensationalists?) view the modern state of Israel as a prophecy and a must before Jesus comes back. Which would explain why he wants to ban all types of religious expression bar Christianity and Judaism. He believes that's necessary for Jesus to return. I think I've got that right. There's a lot of them in America.

I just say I've seen a lot of chatter online about going back to Christianity and I must be the only one really not feeling it. It feels cloying and forced. If we're rebooting religion why can't we try Buddhism or something? I've gone off the Abrahamic faiths there's simply no pretending for me. Surely we've gone past putting the toothpaste back in the tube?

Uricon2 · 13/09/2025 18:02

@YearoftheSnake I think Christian Zionists see Judaism as a means to an end and don't respect it for itself. The issue with TR and those who think like him (the doctrinaire ones, not necessarily all the camp followers) is that their roots are in the extreme far Right and we all know what they think of Jews, and black people and various other groups who it is (thankfully) less popular to attack currently.

Christianity is a new slant and I'm not alone in believing it is another pose to garner a faux respectability for the likes of TR. Probably different in the US in many ways, not necessarily ones I agree with though. It feels like it is a small step from an incorrect interpretation of Little House on the Prairie to Gilead.

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 13/09/2025 18:22

Elon Musk giving a speech that parliament should be dissolved and a new vote because WE haven't got four years.
What's with the WE .. you're not British, you're not eligible to vote in a UK election so fuck off and stop meddling.

Kicking off with the police was always going to happen on the beers and sniff all day and a bit of flag waving what a nice family outing.👍

It's not about faux respectability, it's about saying 'English is a Christian Country' to Muslims, basically 'Not your country'.

Think of the Crusades. And see if you can spot the cross of the Knights Templar at the march today. It was definitely there.

@LlttledrummergirI but then a lot of men dont want to have kids and marry a girl who has been with a lot of men, this is another reason for low birthrates

Women are raising their standards. Who would want to have a child with a misogynistic areshole who thinks women belong in the kitchen.

Fuck that shit.

I agree with you @noblegiraffe that that is the crude message and at least one speaker on the march (not British) made it very clear that other religions (any other religions) are not welcome, but there is no doubt in my mind that there is an element of trying to appeal to those who would be influenced by a wholesome "Christian" narrative. It may be more of a draw in the States (where Tommy Ten spends quite a lot of time seemingly) but we know who esposed "kinder kirche küche". It's part of a bigger whole.

FFS that guy is such a fucking loser. Maybe he should hang out with a few of the people who are hanging on his every word. They are the sort of people who have 'love' and 'hate' tattooed on their knuckles and drink in pubs with flat roofs. I'm sure he'd get on like a house on fire with them.

Tommy Robinson is a very strange Nazi, what with being a Zionist and partly funded by pro-Israel organisations 🤔

Tommy Robinson: “They LIED About Israel — Now I’m a ZIONIST”

As a Zionist Jew (btw Zionism means believing in a Jewish homeland, not blindly agreeing w the Israel govt), he does not speak to me whatsoever and I’m sick of these fascist idiots thinking Jewish people want them on their side.

How can a neo-Nazi support Jews? It’s mind-blowing my ridiculous.

How is he partially funded by pro-Israel supporters. I’d like to know.

His main focus at the moment is Muslims, it is an attempt to deflect attention from the enormous anti semitic history of the far Right and give the opportunity for his supporters and the credulous to say "But he's a Zionist!" It is utterly despicable.

EmeraldRoulette · 13/09/2025 19:46

@Uricon2 i've got that thing going on where I can't do partial quotes because the site is so buggy so apologies for not quoting you directly.

You say you think Tommy spends a lot of time in the US. He was last denied entry few years ago. The long list of criminal convictions would normallykeep him out -but now he's friends with Musk, maybe not in the future.

Ironically, one of his convictions was for entering the United States under a false passport I believe. I can't imagine Donald Trump looks on that too kindly.

He clearly has different backers now. I mean in 2025. So who knows what will happen in the future.

Spot on.

Im a white british muslim and i wear a headscarf and the dirty looks i get is phenomenal. Also comments too here and there.
I also find it very ironic when they say : dress like a christian/this is a christian country.

Errmmm, first of all Noah, Adam, Jesus, Moses, John the baptist (to name a few) certainly werent all white british. And as for dress like a christian, mother mary wore a headscarf.
The bible itself says cover your hair.

Tommy robisnon is just a total dingbat.
All he cares abous is holding a tin of fosters in his hand and screaming a torrent of racist/idiotic crap while going bright red in the face! And then the same bald beer belly men also clutching their precious stellas also cheer him on!
