What’s your favourite simple smell?

I have gnocchi bake in the oven right now but all I can smell is the absolutely divine smell of fresh rosemary smoking on top.

I don’t think I will ever tire of that smell.

What are your favourite ‘simple’ smells? Natural, non-processed or manufactured smells?

Forests when it’s been hot and dry. There’s no damp smell. Just amazing woody, piney, forestry smell.

Reading this, and nodding along with almost all the best-loved scents. The smells of food and nature and memory. I would hate to lose the sense of smell; I almost think I'd rather go deaf, although I don't think I'd cope well without all my senses!

I agree. A dear friend lost their smell due to some aggressive cancer treatment, and in turn lost their taste as they’re connected obviously. It was one of the things they found most difficult about their treatment as they lost so much pleasure and joy in day to day life.

I’ve just sniffed my dogs paws. They don’t smell of anything. Is it just Labradors who have nice smelling paws?

I only sniff my own dogs, and they have both been labs, so cannot definitively answer.
Perhaps the labs webbed feet retain the aroma more 😂 My two smell of baked goods & grass.
