What’s your favourite simple smell?

I have gnocchi bake in the oven right now but all I can smell is the absolutely divine smell of fresh rosemary smoking on top.

I don’t think I will ever tire of that smell.

What are your favourite ‘simple’ smells? Natural, non-processed or manufactured smells?

Oh I love this.

  • Coffee shops (heaven = an empty coffee shop early on a sunny winter morning with the light shining on the wooden floorboards)
  • Bonfire smoke from an allotment at twilight on a still October evening
  • Old books with thick pages
  • Cut grass
  • A garden after a downpour in mid-summer

I love washing up liquid. I would chew a dishcloth for ages.

Floor cleaner as well.

I really don't like the popular petrichor though!

HectorPlasm · 09/09/2025 22:52

I love many of these especially line dried washing. Geranium, Rose and Lavender. Baking. Cigar smoke. Jasmine. Buttered toast. Coffee Dried bay leaves. Fresh crisp autumn air. The original Karvol smell (discontinued and nothing else is the same). Beeswax.
