I have gnocchi bake in the oven right now but all I can smell is the absolutely divine smell of fresh rosemary smoking on top.

I don’t think I will ever tire of that smell.

What are your favourite ‘simple’ smells? Natural, non-processed or manufactured smells?

What is it about petrol I wonder. I absolutely love it. Each time I was pregnant I craved the smell. Still love it, decades later. I love filling up the car and having a good sniff. If I’m a passenger and the driver stops to fill up, I wind the window down and sniff for all I’m worth!

Me too. Although I was just going to say "wet soil". I had forgotten it had a lovely name.

Oh I remember that smell from when I had horses. There's nothing like it. Happy days

My mum makes crab apple jelly and it takes me back to being a wee girl and having some on a toasted soda for breakfast!

The smell of bacon cooking. I also love the smell of toast!

I used to live on cliffs above the sea so I love the smell of salt air and also the smell of whin bushes in bloom. Also the smell of freshly gathered bales of hay! All of these remind me of being a kid!

VivaForever81 · 09/09/2025 20:41

The smell of my border collie when he was soaking wet. I was really upset that when he died I’d never smell it again. I got another border collie and she smells the same (happy days). My other dog smelled completely different and not as good!
