Happy Birthday @FurForksSake ! There seems to be a lot if it about. Can't work out if you're Scorpio like me. It sounds like you and your family are having great fun!

No not anaemic since having a hysterectomy. Interestingly I can date the start of my ME/CFS to years of menstrual floods. I think it knocked the stuffing out of me, I also developed numerous allergies and IBS during this time. I think my dislike/fear of the medical profession dates to years of being fobbed off and not listened to.

Had a little sob at DH who's given me a pep talk and reassured me I'll feel better if I rest, like many times before. Part of getting upset is feeling like a burden but he is very good at pitching in and likes to cross jobs off a list.

FurForksSake · 26/10/2025 11:28

DH and I often bemoan the lack of bungalows. My dream is a small holding where I can whizz about on a tiny sit in all road vehicle and feed my goats and then return to my bungalow 😆

FurForksSake · 26/10/2025 11:29

@TeaAndStrumpets big hugs, you aren’t a burden, you are just human. It’s ok to feel upset, but he loves you.

FurForksSake · 26/10/2025 11:29

And yes, Scorpio!

He really does! I nabbed him when we were 18, so he's been lovely for a long time. We are very old but still laugh every day.

Snap! Or is it Sting?!

Happy birthday @FurForksSake sounds like a lovely day. Im so glad you’re managing your trip away with some modifications. I understand the guilt, I felt similar when on long term sick but you’re allowed to try and live a little the best you can. Enjoy your time away.

@Swanhilde your cottage with lovely views sounds ideal. I find I worry so much about how I’ll manage on trips away but even it’s just resting in a different environment, the change of scene always does me good. Hopefully you’ll manage a little outing in a day or two.

@TeaAndStrumpets things sound really tough for you lately so a moan and a few tears are absolutely in order! Your DH sounds a good un and is absolutely right, my DH often reminds me that I’ve improved before, I can improve again and it’s so true. Let your DH support you and do what needs to be done for a little while so you can keep on resting. Distraction helps me on those days, a familiar comedy or an audio book maybe? Did you find some lovely stocking fillers for your little granddaughter?

Hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing day. Quiet one here ( no surprise!) but I’ve had a busy ish week for me. Have made some almond flour pancakes ( gluten free) which were rather nice but not a lot happening here as DD is working today. DH will cook a roast later.

ChampagneRose · 26/10/2025 12:39

@FurForksSakehappy birthday - hope you have a lovely day!

VikingNorthUtsire · 26/10/2025 15:39

Happy birthday @FurForksSake

We also have a week away booked next week. Sacrificed a hot tub (adult kids' preference) for a place with a pretty walk on the doorstep and beautiful views from the main bedroom. Means I can enjoy the holiday while resting, and hopefully get out for a little walk without it needing to be a big palaver.

Stressybetty · 26/10/2025 17:53

@FurForksSake happy birthday!

FurForksSake · 26/10/2025 18:25

Enjoy your holiday!

thanks for the birthday wishes!

Happy birthday @FurForksSake
I've been trying to start packing for my enforced 4 week exile. Consequence is that the living room is covered in clothes and I've had to order some more emergency knickers from Amazon!
I thought I had more pairs than I actually do and don't want to have to go to the launderette too often!
Feeling tired now but really should do some more things before I go to bed!

The dishwasher awaits!!

Hi all,
Total rest on sofa all day yesterday, hoping for better energy today. HR 120 after getting up, oxygen 98 so not bad. Had breakfast, got washed and dressed, HR 130, oxygen down to 83 same as yesterday. After 5 minutes resting HR down to 80, oxygen has slowly crept back up to 98. So bloody sick of it all. I had this for weeks last year, had a chest x ray but was normal. It's just me. I know it can take months to claw back a bit of stamina, but I do despair sometimes.

Sorry for moan.

This sounds so difficult 😔 Never say sorry for moaning on here, we all understand x

Realisation14 · 27/10/2025 07:48

@FurForksSake sorry I missed it, happy birthday for yesterday!

Realisation14 · 27/10/2025 07:51

Does anyone else feel like they may as well live at their local chemist? Lol. Mine know me by name when I walk in! The staff are lovely though. My husband works full time so I collect his prescriptions, plus my own and then all of my son's too, I feel like I'm never out of the place! Anyway, that popped into my head because I have to go there today as usual, I also need to go to Sainsbury's so that is what I'm up to today. What are you all up to?

FurForksSake · 27/10/2025 08:27

I get all my prescriptions delivered with pharmacy 2 u. I can’t tolerate pharmacies they give me the rage and standing js a nightmare.

Today we will attempt a short walk down the lane so the kids can rampage in the woods. Lunch of leftover Chinese food. Afternoon I’m hoping we’ll get on the mountain railway and then home for roast chicken.

My period started last night, which is a pain. I must shower today, I didn’t yesterday and I feel gross now.

What are you up to today if you have chronic illness part 2?
Swanhilde · 27/10/2025 08:37

Gorgeous view @FurForksSake 🍂🍁🍂🍁

It's pouring with rain here so doesn't look like we'll be venturing anywhere exciting today. Do need provisions though, so I'll accompany DH to the shop for a change of scenery.

Then more tea and resting. Maybe even cake 🍰

FurForksSake · 27/10/2025 08:48

The salted caramel and pretzel Sainsburys birthday cake is delicious. Ds2 (10) did the honours of cutting and respected that I just wanted a small piece. In fact the cake will last week the way he slices 😆

Horrible and scary start to the day.

I was woken at 5am by palpitations. This often happens when I have a bad cfs crash. I got up and found a pulse oximeter which read 155 pulse, 79 oxygen. I was feeling panicky because the heart rate stayed high, so woke DH.

He phoned 111 and they sent an ambulance. It took two hours to arrive. I had a thorough assessment over the phone, and they called back during the wait to check I had no chest pain. The ambulance crew measured everything and decided I should go to hospital. I was at the hospital just after 8, then had my bp done and an ecg. I sat waiting in urgent care until 12.30 then saw a lovely young doctor. Bottom line is my bloods etc are fine, so I was sent home to rest.

As if I wasn't already resting! Anyway I am so grateful there is no cause for concern. It was frightening. Not sure I dare go to sleep tonight!

Oh gosh that sounds so very scary, I’m so sorry things are so rough just now but it sounds like the ambulance crew and dr were thorough and I’m glad you’re back home at least as hospital wirh ME/ CFS can be challenging at the c’est of times. I imagine the stress and sensory overload of the hospital hasn’t helped at all. Rest, rest and more rest ( I know you’ve no choice) and sending hugs your way 💐

Thanks @Hotbeverageplease it really was horrific seeing how busy it was. The staff were super but there just weren't enough of them.
