I was just looking at facebook, and a ‘Sad face’ newsmaker article came up. Practically all the comments mentioned boats, asylum seekers etc etc. Its really getting me down.

Travelled to the south west last weekend. On the way down no flags on bridges. On the way back, in some areas, every bridge.

Its scary how quickly it’s all happening.

I suspect that what @RingoJuice regards as "diversity" has more to do with keeping different races separate and "pure".

They pay large tuition fees, I don’t know about the uk but here in Ireland, international students fees are a really important way for colleges and universities to make money.

It absolutely is like that here too. To the extent that large parts of higher education exist as a disguised way to sell student visas. A lot of what gets discussed on threads like this are elements of one big choice made as to how to run our economy. A choice, which as it turns out, lots of people hate.

Labour government is weak. They won’t do anything to stop people coming over. They need votes in the next election to remain in power (god help us!) and who do you think is going to be voting for them?

It is certainly true that international students have been bankrolling our universities for many years.

And it's true that we could choose to finance our higher education in a different way. Much higher fees for home students, for example? Or higher taxes to support big government subsidies? Or a vast reduction in the number of British students who are permitted to go on to higher education? Or massive cuts to teaching, facilities and support services for students in order to drastically reduce costs?

There will be trade offs linked to any of the choices that we make. It all boils down to what price people are willing to pay to cut the numbers of international students.

It will erase distinct groups, so I consider that a net loss tbh. Also, there is a judgement that non-diverse gene pools are bad. There are pros and cons.

Ashkenazi Jews have some unique genetic diseases but they are also the most intelligent group on earth! That kind of human diversity is quite amazing! Non-Bantu Africans are very genetically diverse, and it’s worth trying to preserve their communities against Bantu marginalization. We don’t want these groups to disappear forever!

I like human diversity. It’s why I left my country. I think it would be very sad if English people died out. I think it’s sad if any distinct group dies out—it happens distressingly often in human history. Sometimes the successor groups become intriguing in their own right—but this is far from guaranteed.

Not sure, but maybe have a read up on South Africa where less than 10% of white people was an issue.

Lol, English people are not at any risk of "dying out"! 😂 But I presume you are referring to a hypothetical situation in which white British people could gradually "dilute" their "pure White British" ethnicity by mixing with other races? (As we have in fact done for centuries, but I'm guessing you don't want to talk about that.)

So, if we take that hypothetical situation, what exactly would you find sad about that? British culture would continue to be transmitted down the generations, constantly evolving in the way that it always has done. So what would you think had been lost, exactly, and why do you think that would matter?

Do you mean the bits of Africa where white people stole land and resources and then treated black people as being inferior for many decades? I wonder why that might have led to tensions...

How can English people 'die out'? There are millions of us. Were you referring to any particular colour of English people, out of interest?

I'm not clear as to whether that means pure Anglo Saxon or whether we are allowed to have traces of Celt, Viking, Norman French etc as well.
