Hate how racist everything has become, and how quickly it’s happened.

I was just looking at facebook, and a ‘Sad face’ newsmaker article came up. Practically all the comments mentioned boats, asylum seekers etc etc. Its really getting me down.

Travelled to the south west last weekend. On the way down no flags on bridges. On the way back, in some areas, every bridge.

Its scary how quickly it’s all happening.

I stopped reading comments on social media ages ago.
No matter how benign. Even subjects you think would be uncontroversial.

Racism racism racism. Even ads and ESPECIALLY ads with mixed couples.

No wonder I know a load of people seeking a back-up plan / escape route out of the UK / Europe.

I live in a very white area. Not very diverse at all & no asylum seeker hotels. Working class area, quite scruffy in some parts, drug problems etc. Our local council isn’t great, lots of services being cut,e.g refuge collection, grass cutting etc. Locals moan about it on FB, comments will always include a few blaming it on ‘the boats’. Some people really do seem to believe that they are handed bags of cash & keys to a council flat as soon as they arrive here!

Large groups within the population that haven’t integrated, or are responsible for crime, certain crimes, or aren’t net contributors as an example.

You’re right. And round here it’s white chavvy spice heads who are burgling houses, shoplifting and causing trouble in the city. Responsible for 95% of the crime and not integrated. None of them work, all on welfare being a drain on society.

Interesting you bring Obama up. He intentionally embraced his black side, explicitly rejecting marriage with his Asian partner. I think he felt that he could not be a leader in the black community with an Asian wife (according to her, anyway).

Anything is true when you make it up.

But to be clear “black” does not equal “Kenyan.

I was talking about his cultural identity not his racial one. He is American and nobody reasonable would suggest he has equally embraced his Kenyan and American identity..

I have no idea what him having a girlfriend from Asia in the past has to do with anything.

Don't have time currently to respond to your whole comment but it's much easier for women and children to get on a plane from Ukraine to the UK and the situations aren't comparable. The risk of death and suffering associated with getting to the UK (or more likely, other countries) to claim asylum is high, and so typically the men endure the vast journey first and then bring their wives and children over on a plane as dependants once their claim has been processed. It's not that they value their lives and safety more than their children's and happily choose to abandon them (which is such an offensive and dehumanising trope), far from it - it's a calculation of risk between the journey and safety for the forseeable in their home country where they can hopefully be supported/protected by family. There are too many tales of children dying on the journey that most men do not even consider this an option, however much it may pain them to leave them behind. You make it sound like they're all skipping their way here merrily, laughing and singing "row row your boat" when the reality could not be more different.

No - I think it is beyond horrifying that ANYONE risks their life fleeing safety in France to get to the UK. We all know how much they have spent to donate journey too. If their priority was safety the whole family would try to walk to the neighbouring country. I well remember the Kurds fleeing Iraq - whole families fleeing on foot through the mountains. The fact that this wave of immigrants is travelling through safe Europe to get here (rather than elsewhere) is what shows that they are economic migrants rather than just escaping danger with their families. If the men can’t leave on planes how can the women?

True! They’re also a problem.

You haven't answered my question. I'll try once more.

Why exactly do you think people like my culturally British mixed race dd present a threat to the UK, and what do you consider to be the specific nature of that threat? Why would it matter if there were more people in the UK with my dd's skin colour than white people? Why exactly are you suggesting that people should be worried about this?

If you don't want to answer, I will conclude that your comments are based on simple racism. If that isn't the case, please do explain.

Idk she is part of a small but emerging community in Britain. Demographic change in the UK is driven by migration, not mixed-race marriage.

I don’t understand that. Demographic change is caused by migration not mixed race marriage? I would’ve thought it would be both.

Is it not the same God with a different name.? To be honest I don’t care which fairytale book people read. As long as it doesn’t impact on me and I see no sign of it doing so.

well apart from Sunday trading laws but we can’t blame the Muslims for that.

You need to read up on Islam if you don’t think it will impact you.

He is American, but he has embraced his black identity and has struggled with his white identity as he never felt his white grandparents (who raised him) really understood him. And among blacks, it is tricky still because he is not ADOS

The impact of mixed-race marriage is very small compared to migration.

I see that constantly “they get everything for free - as soon as they arrive they are given a free house”.

And people like this are impervious to data.

Blaming “foreigners” for all of our ills is a trend that dates back centuries.

At this point I am just ready for Reform to get in so people can see migrants are not
the source of all of their ills.

It is indeed driven by both, but @RingoJuice is trying to dodge the question.

Soz, wrong post but was saying ...most people born in this country do NOT live in an area where they are a minority . And tbh , what the flip does it matter ? It'll only matter if you are a racist thug.

None of this has to do with the false claim that being birracial means having two cultures.

Obama is fully American and nobody would ever claim he claims equally his American and Kenyan cultural heritage.

Why you are waffling on about how he may or may not be viewed among other Americans
who happen to be black is wholly irrelevant and
you are derailing.

Having a parent of an immigrant background does not mean you will embrace that foreign
culture which is the point about Obama.

Yeah, I have some sympathy with that position. However, my concern is that, when Reform fails on a monumental scale, as it inevitably will, the idiots that voted them in won't necessarily see sense... they may just lurch even further to the right, or we may just see the complete breakdown of law and order altogether.

Personally, if Reform do get in - and I think they probably will - I'm not hanging around to witness the fallout.

Why are you talking about race? The topic is migration and whether those of partial immigrant heritage claim both backgrounds equally.

Obama is a clear example that that is not necessarily the case.

He absolutely privileges his American cultural
identity over his Kenyan one.

I think that’s the thing I fear most about Reform. Not that they can deliver what they promise.

But what happens if they don’t? And like you I am lucky enough to have my escape route in place but most of my family do not.

If 10% do, then no, there won’t. If 100% do … that’s like losing a war level of demographic change. That’s not really realistic, is it?

Would it be a problem for you if the majority of the population were mixed race?

American cultural identity has traditionally been split into several distinct groups: white Americans, ADOS, and Native Americans. Nowadays we can add Hispanics and AA.

Obama is unique in that he is not ADOS but has culturally embraced his black American identity anyway.
