Witches - spell help

Hey, looking for some advice as in all the years of spell work I have never had this happen before.

i did a spell on the full moon, all very well intentioned, to help me save money. I lit a candle in a special place to me, set my intention, and the candle blew out quite quickly. It was near a window, so I took it to mean spell completed ie wish made.

i took the candle home and lit it again later on the lionsgate portal night to strengthen my resolve. The wax kind of dripped on to my finger and burned me a lot. I’ve never had that happen before. I looked it up and some say it’s a warning (what can it be warning me about, it’s literally just to make me save money 😂) or - very differing view - the spell needed some kind of karmic or energy payment from me, and I “paid” with the burn to add strength and resolve to the spell.

any thoughts? I’ve done this a long time and never cast bad or ill intentioned spells so I don’t know what this was about! Has someone hexed me?

blessed be x

This makes total sense. Body parts are home to meridians, and the thumb, big toe and earlobes are all about your ‘core essence’. This sounds crazy but when I’ve had strong intentions I’ll often get a heavy knock on a body part, it’s source energy literally helping to deliver a rush of ‘energy’ to this ‘part’ of you.
You sent out a request, your spirit went okay whammo, this will help you become more of ‘who’ you are because being more of who you are helps money flow.
Yes, there’s your daily dose of woo-woo.

Bloody love you!

Burning your thumb with some melted wax and thinking that it means that someone is out to get you is far from the most normal thing in the world.

I spilled some tea on myself this morning and it hurt. This happened because A) Hot tea does burn. B) I am clumsy as have dyspraxia. And C) I have nerve damage in my hands so I struggle to grip things. It did not occur to me that someone is plotting my imminent demise.

Hun you been out to get me since I posted so let’s not say it’s nonsense just yet 😂

Have you considered saving money by not buying candles?

Just because you're not paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you 😏

Why not get the universe to manifest you the winning euromillions numbers?

Don’t be silly. We aren’t talking about a genie in a bottle. Magic is about balance and nature and the individual involved in the magic. I’m entirely happy to believe there is a scientific explanation for all of it, but so deeply complex we can’t fathom it, only tap into it.

I’m starting to suspect there’s something in the black cat superstition, although i can never remember if it’s lucky or unlucky if one crosses your path. It’s certainly unlucky if you’re a bird.

Well, our freezer stopped working yesterday, and our neighbourhood NMC Suzy rocked up, as she frequently does.

It didn't make the freezer start working again. It's my fault for not casting a spell about it.

You say that, but those PG Tips chimps are vindictive bastards. Never forget. Never forgive. Did you irk one once?

PollyannaNibbs · 14/08/2025 12:14

Because blowing out a candle and making a birthday wish is special. We can all stop if we want. But people don’t… why not, if it’s “nonsense”

I think a lot of people have stopped since the pandemic, spreading germs all over the cake. That's more important than making a wish nowadays.

MrsHiggins1 · 14/08/2025 12:14

Candle blew out near a window? That’s not a spell completing, that’s a draft doing its thing.
Wax burned your finger? Molten wax is hot, the warning there is to keep your hands out of the splash zone.
The ‘energy payment’ idea? If your money saving plan involves paying in second-degree burns, you might want to renegotiate the contract.
And as for wondering if someone’s hexed you, if your finances rely on moon cycles and candles, you don’t need a hex. You just need a better financial adviser.

OfTheNight · 14/08/2025 12:14

Hi OP there’s a very friendly witch thread over in Philosophy and religion, if you ask this to be moved you’ll get responses from like minded people.

I’d take it as a little nudge from the universe to be wary of your true intention when you cast a spell. It’s all well and good going through the motions but what you want requires some genuine action/sacrifice, so make sure you’re all in.

I read an article yesterday on neurogenic tremoring, and how the body can tremor when under stress or emotional turmoil, as a way of resetting and calming itself naturally.

Body parts can and do manifest energy and store it, I agree with you.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 12:15

People are out there sage-ing their homes

Sorry, what is "sage-ing" your home?

I need to get out more. I've never heard of this.

Is it just something that people with a Live, Laugh, Love sign on their walls do?

So why is the OP lighting candles to help her save money? Surely a lottery win would help her with her financial situation? And she mentioned laughing at us from her new super yacht...not very spiritual IMO.

Or, is it that if this stuff worked, all the witches would be winning the lottery every week? Oo, maybe they are, but they just aren't telling us the magic spell you need to say...

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 12:17

And she mentioned laughing at us from her new super yacht...not very spiritual IMO

Yes, that was unfortunate.
And very telling.

Unlucky for birds and freezers. Yes, that’s how the superstition goes, i remember now.

BunniB · 14/08/2025 12:19

I am bowing out of this thread. I am not enjoying some of the sneering any more.

OP I wish you good fortune.

PrissyGalore · 14/08/2025 12:19

Why the meanness and cynicism towards the OP? Her beliefs are no different to people believing in God or travelling to Lourdes or praying multiple times daily to an entity they can’t see. And those kinds of beliefs have special days and are even ‘protected’ at work. Personally, I don’t believe any of it, but the OP’s beliefs-faith, really- are no different. And it might be helpful to light a candle to focus if you have faith in it. But yeah, you just spilled some wax-no one is wishing you bad things.

And then there’s the whole anecdote of how acupuncture started - a Chinese warrior with a long-term shoulder injury went into battle, and received a spear to the area.
Him and his fellow soldiers realised in the following weeks that the long-term shoulder issue had healed considerably ever since the smaller targeted jab of the spear.

Is it just something that people with a Live, Laugh, Love sign on their walls do?

You set light to some sage branches? twigs? and walk around your house wafting the smoke everywhere to get rid of all the negative vibes. I've never encountered it in real life but it apparently reeks like anything.

See also 'Feng Shui' because aligning your live love laugh sign correctly is a well know antidote to bad things.

There’s a huge Cypriot community doing this, we light olive leaves when babies are born too.

I assume you’ve never seen the eye of Fatma / Hamsa either? What other things can you suggest I simply made up today on this thread?

@MagpiePi Oh I get it; you’re allowed to laugh at the Op but she can’t make a light-hearted riposte?

Because she’s a loony so she is fair game.

Nice work MagpiePi.

Why don't acupuncturists use spears instead of those teeny needles?

Nothing. Give over. You've heard of them all, but I haven't.

The eye of Fatma? Never heard of it.
