Absolute Radio are asking for our top 3 Britpop songs. What are yours?
Mine are (in reverse order):
Kula Shaker - Hush
Radiohead - No Surprises
Suede - Animal Nitrate

Blur - There’s no other way
Suede - Trash
Manics - Design for life

I could go on and on, OP :-)

RipePeach · 07/08/2025 08:56

Blur - Popscene
James - Laid
Pulp - Babies

Far too many to choose from but this is a good start I think!

RockyRogue1001 · 07/08/2025 09:04

Dakota, stereophonic
Do you remember the first time? Pulp
Screamadelica Come together, primal scream

Very hard to narrow it down. I would have said suede, but they're already here twice. Ditto blur (I'd have gone for Parklife) and radio head (karma police or creep). And possibly pumping on your stereo, supergrass

RockyRogue1001 · 07/08/2025 09:09

Now I'm thinking

I'd rather be liberated,
Find myself captivated
Stop doing
What you keep doing it to

RitaAndFrank · 07/08/2025 09:11

Pulp - Common People
Suede - So Young
Radiohead - Karma Police

RitaAndFrank · 07/08/2025 09:12

If I can addd a fourth, Motorcycle Emptiness- the Manics.

OK you're allowed! 😊

I'd like to add For Tomorrow by Blur

Pulp - Babies
Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger
Radiohead - Creep

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/08/2025 11:13

Lush - Ladykillers
James - Laid
Suede - Trash

Any and all Pulp - saw them live earlier in the summer and they were amazing. On Ash, Tim Wheeler randomly popped up on my TikTok FYP the other day and said it was on that day 30 years ago they released Girl From Mars, and played an acoustic version of it. I felt simultaneously a teenager and a thousand years old!

cheesychipsontheoche · 07/08/2025 11:19

Yes - mcalmont and butler
design for life - manics
common people - pulp

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 07/08/2025 11:21

I love James but hate Laid. Waltzing Along or Sometimes for me, please.

There are so many, I can't narrow it down to three (I made a 7 hour long 90s bangers mix-tape on my Apple Music...)

Something for the Weekend - The Divine Comedy
You Showed Me - Lightning Seeds
The Riverboat Song - Ocean Colour Scene
Moving - Supergrass
On Standby - Shed Seven
Ladykillers - Lush
Connection - Elastica

Whigfield is not Britpop, it's Europop.

Joolsin · 07/08/2025 12:24

What a great question, op, I'm really enjoying reading the lists.

I'll add Blur - Song 2 to the list (although anything by Blur is good for me!) and I'll second Elastica - Connection!

ConnieHeart · 07/08/2025 12:30

RockyRogue1001 · 07/08/2025 12:10

Um... @ConnieHeart

Oops! Wishful thinking 🤣 I actually don't mind that song

Bry123 · 07/08/2025 12:39

I am loving this thread, it's bringing back some fab memories.

I will go with:
Pulp - Common People
James - Sit Down
Feeder - Buck Rogers (although not sure they are fully Britpop!)

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/08/2025 12:45

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - 1977 was my first CD, I was 14! Arrrgh I feel old!
