All excellent shouts @TheOtherAgentJohnson

Piratejenny99 · 07/08/2025 12:55

Britpop was my teen era, I wasn't much into the bangers but Connection by Elastica has to be up there. Not a banger as such but This is Hardcore by Pulp is an absolute masterpiece IMO.

StoorieHoose · 07/08/2025 13:03

Suede - Animal Nitrate
Pulp - Do you remember the first time?
Marion - Sleep

StoorieHoose · 07/08/2025 13:05

How could I forget Yes by McAlmont & Butler!

good shout @cheesychipsontheoche

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 07/08/2025 13:06

I love James but hate Laid. Waltzing Along or Sometimes for me, please.

There are so many, I can't narrow it down to three (I made a 7 hour long 90s bangers mix-tape on my Apple Music...)

Something for the Weekend - The Divine Comedy
You Showed Me - Lightning Seeds
The Riverboat Song - Ocean Colour Scene
Moving - Supergrass
On Standby - Shed Seven
Ladykillers - Lush
Connection - Elastica

You Showed Me was a hit for the Turtles way back. But was written by Roger McGuinn of the Byrds - I recently discovered. Older than Big Bang I feel now....

ProfessorRizz · 07/08/2025 15:10

Super Furry Animals - Something 4 The Weekend
Teenage Fanclub - Sparky’s Dream
Blur - This Is A Low

ProfessorRizz · 07/08/2025 15:15

I was big into Britpop at the time but it was mainly embarrassing. Super Furries and the Fannies were so much better than Oasis; it’s a shame the general public backed the wrong Creation band.

I barely listen to Britpop nowadays; it was so male/stale/pale. (But my three bangers above I stand by!)

It's a great song, and the Lightning Seeds version is dreamy.

SorrelForbes · 07/08/2025 15:17

All You Good Good People- Embrace
Girls and Boys - Blur
Animal Nitrate - Suede

It wasn’t all male. Elastica, Lush, Sleeper… (admittedly I’ve run out of women but I’m sure there’s more!)

the80sweregreat · 07/08/2025 15:24

Boys and girls / blur
dont look back in anger /Oasis
Common people / Pulp

ProfessorRizz · 07/08/2025 15:24

It was fairly male…and white! I’d have loved to have been a teenager instead during Two Tone, or just the late seventies/early eighties in general with the amazing mix of styles.

Garbage, if that counts.

In the 90s we had trip hop, dancehall, jungle, garage, trance, house, hip hop, RnB, dub, grunge, nu metal...
