Would you complain about a neighbour's 7yo child naked in their own garden?

As title. Just wanted others opinions.

I think it's perfectly normal for young children to run around their own house and garden naked.

I judge people who are judgemental about a perfectly innocent, autistic child having innocent fun in their garden. ‘You simply don’t know who’s looking’. In the case of your neighbours, it’s a judgemental person who is ‘grossed out’ by a naked human body. ‘Of course we would be the bad ones if we dared complain about it’. Yes, you would be !

Oh of course how original! No one is ever allowed to say anything negative about SEN kids these days. I don’t want to see it when I’m in my garden and that’s my right. There are laws about public decency for a reason.

iciclemelts · 21/07/2025 19:49

What happens when the same SEN kid is 13 and still wants to be naked? Is it still ok then?

Funnywonder · 21/07/2025 19:49

When my children were of trampolining age, if either of them had seen a naked child in next door’s garden, there would have been an exclamation of ‘MUMMY, THERE’S A GIRL WITH NO CLOTHES ON!’ Nice and LOUD😬 No judgement though, just an observation.

Are these particular grandchildren offended? What age are they? Did they ask their grandparent to complain?

RosesAndHellebores · 21/07/2025 19:49

No.
Naked bodies are normal.
People who think they aren't have their own personal issues to resolve.
God made us naked and equal.

Caveat: I have sunbathed topless for decades and my DC were naked whenever they wanted in the garden until inhibition clicked in. When it did they were still happily naked in France and dd and I stay topless in our garden - and dd still does, aged 27 in France, on the beach and in public. I would if I were prouder of my toplessness.

I don't think the problem lies with yiur neighbours.

ruethewhirl · 21/07/2025 19:52

Totally depends whether it's the front or back garden imo, and if the latter, whether there's sufficient privacy. In general I don't think children should be naked outdoors where people other than family can see, you never know who's around.

But we're talking about a child. Children need to be protected, it's not about what's normal or what isn't.

WhatDaHell · 21/07/2025 19:53

Nope

MarioLink · 21/07/2025 19:55

No. Our neighbours' kids used the paddling pool naked when they were kids and one day their youngest forgot and ran down the street naked! There were kids on the beach naked this year; it was quite normal when I was a kid. My parents had us on swimsuits and I don't let my kids run round outside naked but I don't care what others do.

Epidote · 21/07/2025 19:55

With this very hot weather I will be jealous if I see a kid naked jumping in a trampoline and I will smile and say I wish I was seven.
Other story is if they are in a very expose garden, but in a back one with fences etc. I wouldn't bother at all.
If my daughter see it she probably ask can I join? Already taking their clothes off.

TomatoSandwiches · 21/07/2025 20:01

You could be my only neighbour although my son is 9, even inside he strips down to his nappy but outside he takes that off and enjoys the only safe outdoor area he can access with some supervision.
He has a trampoline a cubby hole tent a massive sand/water tray, loves it.
We have a 6ft fence so if people decide to look then that's on them imo.

godmum56 · 21/07/2025 20:02

Wait. Who is on the trampoline? if its the naked child then how is he bouncing higher than the fence? If its the children who commented, they shouldn't be using a tramploline to look into other people's gardens.

Annony331 · 21/07/2025 20:02

Lots of severe SEND children have life limiting deseases.

If they get some pleasure from running around naked or it fills a sensory need I would let them.

They may be in a wheelchair next year and unable to do this.

What is worrying you about this behaviour?

Wtf no.

Rewis · 21/07/2025 20:04

Nope. People can be nude in their own garden.

In his own home it's perfectly fine, if you don't want to see don't look, put up a fence fgs.

There are laws about vouyerism too.

Rainonwednesday · 21/07/2025 20:07

No.

And if the child has a severe disability, like it sounds this child has, absolutely no way would I want to make the parent’s lives harder by pressurizing them to to try to put clothes on a child on a hot day. I’d have to be an utterly self-absorbed selfish wanker who thinks everything revolves around me to want to do that.

Squishymallows · 21/07/2025 20:08

No of course not

Sunflower1650 · 21/07/2025 20:10

I have a 6 year old with SEN and he frequently strips off his clothes in the house and in our back garden. If one of the neighbours came round and complained about that I’d be telling them to fuck off.

VintageDiamondGirl · 21/07/2025 20:11

I wouldn’t but I think noticing a young naked child jumping on a trampoline might make me worry about an accident. But, my view is skewed by an accident a male relative had on some apparatus as a child (wearing only underwear).

Actually you don’t have this right. There is no law that says you have the right not to see this. Under UK law the naked person would have to have the intent to cause you alarm or distress which a seven year old clearly would not have.

Maddy70 · 21/07/2025 20:12

Leave them alone
