Oh Lordy this heat… what do people wear?

Sweat trickling into my knickers, hair dripping wet… I’m seeing loads of women wearing long black silky skirts - that can’t be cool, can it?

What does everyone wear when it just gets so hot (and they have to commute - works is pretty chilled about what you wear).

Im just a big old sweaty mess…🥵

Jeez, it's not that hot! Sweaty knickers and dripping hair?!

And yes, I'm in London and I travelled on the tube today (not the Elizabeth line) and no, I didn't spend the day in an air-conditioned office.

EndorsingPRActice · 10/07/2025 21:30

I’m resting in a cool bath at the moment so nothing. Had a thin poly/viscose dress on all day at work, I have air con in the train and office so I’ve been fine all day, just baking this evening at home. Thin cotton nightie after my bath.

DongDingBell · 10/07/2025 21:34

Hmmm, we are all taking frequent breaks to where there are hints of a breeze, but:
Steel toe capped shoes
Full length trousers
Full length sleeves (or put a jacket on top of short sleeves)
Gloves

It's brutal currently, but we are all getting sent home early most days, as we are all exhausted by 3pm.

Same although I've got knickers on and I'm re watching The Good Wife 🤣

The bits of me that could really do with a good breeze are the bits that can't be exposed to a good breeze (without being arrested or grossing the family out).

National shocker - weather in the Scottish highlands is not representative of most of the U.K. 🙄

No need to be nasty dear. Genuinely curious as to which areas are sweltering!

In London - so it’s ’dirty hot’! Bleugh. No breeze, niffink.

Oh no! That sounds really uncomfortable!!

I rarely have the misfortune to have to travel by tube in rush hour.

Sweat running down my face was exactly what happened. I’ll spare you any further details as you obviously wouldn’t believe me anyway.

Idea from someone on here. Tried to find the post to say thanks but can’t.

Frozen hot water bottle. The bed is a place of cool luxury!

And/or have one under your pillow so you can keep flipping it over to the cool side.

Linen culottes and a t shirt.

yakkity · 10/07/2025 22:17

Linen shorts and a linen shirt. Loose

mynameiscalypso · 10/07/2025 22:22

London here, commenting and then a long walk home from a tube station when the tube got stuck three stops before mine. I was wearing wide leg black trousers, trainers and a linen shirt (over a vest). I generally find it cooler to wear cloths (long sleeves/trousers in natural materials) than not to.

LillyPJ · 10/07/2025 22:26

Maybe not suitable for work or for those with bigger boobs than me, but not wearing a bra makes a huge difference - so much cooler without one.

Squirrelsnut · 10/07/2025 22:31

Loose linen trousers and a Uniqlo Airism cami with boob support, no bra needed. Still hot though..

Rainallnight · 10/07/2025 22:37

A-line cotton midi dresses, from Cos, Albaray and Uniqlo. Never ever ever anything with a waistline in this weather.

TheChosenTwo · 10/07/2025 22:52

Today I wore a long black cotton dress, the aircon at work is brutal and I hate it as I feel the cold so I also had a sweatshirt!
As soon as I got home I changed into shorts and a vest top and dh and I went to a beer garden for a couple of hours so I could get my heat fix without thinking I needed to get on with ‘jobs’ at home!!
I love the summer and am not suffering like some, this weather brings me joy ☺️

forthistimeonly · 11/07/2025 00:14

@HoneyButterPopcorn I was on the tube today too. Twice. Plus a train from the coast into south London. Twice.
It's really not hot! Bottle previously frozen water is your friend.
I was fortunate to be in an a/c building most of the day but journeyed home via tube and train.

But it really isn't hot. I've lived in 40+ and that is hot.

forthistimeonly · 11/07/2025 00:20

And next week people will be moaning about the miserable weather!

Hazelsticksandwillow777 · 11/07/2025 00:20

I ordered three cotton dresses from H&M for this weather and I have had to send them all back because the material is so cheap that they are see-through! As a more mature woman I really don’t want my underwear visible which means wearing s slip underneath which defeats the entire object of wearing a cool dress! Jeeeeeeeesh! Why is life so blooming annoying? Men aren’t confronted with rows of see through clothes are they? Makes my blood boil!

forthistimeonly · 11/07/2025 00:24

I'm with @proximalhumerous
It really is not so hot to be getting in a sweat about it!
Enjoy the sunshine..... we don't get much!

anotherwordforit · 11/07/2025 00:26

Loose long cotton t-shirt dress, cotton cycling shorts underneath for chub rub :(, hair up in a bun

SnowFrogJelly · 11/07/2025 00:30

Shorts and loose tshirt

Iloveonlyitaliantoastedbread · 11/07/2025 01:30

Mini skirt, tank top, bare legs, Croc sandals.
Set up the kiddie pool today, spent the late afternoon sitting on a chair with my feet in the cold water.
What a difference that makes I didn't even have to sit in the pool and my core temperature seemed to drop.
Night time, ceiling fan on full, loose cotton PJ tee, with a cotton sheet over me.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 11/07/2025 01:43
