Oh Lordy this heat… what do people wear?

Sweat trickling into my knickers, hair dripping wet… I’m seeing loads of women wearing long black silky skirts - that can’t be cool, can it?

What does everyone wear when it just gets so hot (and they have to commute - works is pretty chilled about what you wear).

Im just a big old sweaty mess…🥵

I'm nude in front of the industrial fan watching eastenders 😭

My kinda girl 😁

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 10/07/2025 20:01

As little as I can decently get away with 😜

DiscoBeat · 10/07/2025 20:03

My favourite thing in this heat is organic cotton dresses from Seasalt. I don't care if theyre unstylish!

Where are you all that it’s so hot? I’m in the highlands, so it’s pleasantly warm but nowhere near unbearable

National shocker - weather in the Scottish highlands is not representative of most of the U.K. 🙄

Bamboo dresses. Full cover shoulders / cleavage so less risk of burning and still cool to wear.

stuff I wore on holiday last week and when I have been to work it’s been sleeveless tops and baggy trousers. It’s really not panic stations in the heat. How do you all cope on holiday?🙄

You do know not everybody is the same as you?

And when on holiday I don't have to teach 30+ teenagers in a roasting hot school with no air con. Oh and I holiday in the UK.

Noiamnotalison · 10/07/2025 20:21

Thin long wafty dresses if I have stuff to do as they keep the sun off my legs when walking around and sitting. And I find the waftiness keeps me cooler than bare legs getting sweaty. When I’m not busy then shorts and flip flops.

I’ve got a lot of shirts and linen stuff this year but I find it all a bit bulky and stiff once the temp reaches high 20s.

TheGriffle · 10/07/2025 20:30

Linen or similar trousers and a cotton tshirt. I don’t do well in the heat and my skin hates the sun so I prefer to cover up where I can. Plus I look like a sack of potatoes in any kind of dress.

Hedjwitch · 10/07/2025 20:34

Thin, floaty dresses for a bit of waft.
V loose tops with " flappy" trousers

aGirlLikeJesamine · 10/07/2025 20:37

long floaty dress
might have to wear shorts under my dress tomorrow <<ouch>>

unsync · 10/07/2025 20:42

Wafty cotton frock and cooling shorts underneath.

Blushingm · 10/07/2025 20:46

I’m a nurse so wear a uniform 🥵🥵

WhineAndWine1 · 10/07/2025 20:46

we dont all go somewhere hot on holiday!

I've been in London all day. 9-5. It's not that hot. I'm just back home by the coast where we have a sea breeze but London wasn't uncomfortable. I'm menopausal but the heat didn't bother me at all. Am I unusual? I've lived in India, Australia, Greece. Much hotter than here. I don't get the hysteria it's only 30!
I wear my normal summer clothes. Today - a cotton blouse and linen trousers. I'll be on the beach tomorrow though, in a bikini!

PractisingMyTelekenipsis · 10/07/2025 20:59

I've got a lovely wafty viscose dress on. I dream of lovely linen, cotton etc. But I'm poor Grin

Was stuck in the tube twice today - once with school group of about 30 teenagers. Plus my office is as hot as hell.

Oh and my mil is from the Middle East and she says it’s bloody awful in London now. She says it’s definately the humidity that’s the problem, and has her industrial strength dehumidifier on!

I wear linen, lots of lovely linen. I've decided to embrace the casually crumpled look.

clamshell24 · 10/07/2025 21:10

Short sleeve loose linen shirt, long shorts.

CandyCane457 · 10/07/2025 21:13

Strappy midi dresses and chub rub shorts from snag…they’re amazing on the thigh!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 10/07/2025 21:14

I had the misfortune to be in central London today. I wore linen trousers with a thin cotton top. Sweat was running down my face on the tube on the way in. No one else seemed to be struggling the same way as me but some had hand held electric fans either them

I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to get to a mirror that I didn’t look as bad as I felt, but it was extremely unpleasant. The way home was a little less crowded but I’d felt a sweaty mess all day by then so I was past caring!

Nchangeo · 10/07/2025 21:18

I just bought some clown shorts which are 4 sizes too large. I can feel a breeze in my knickers 😂 Very pleased.

DiscoNights · 10/07/2025 21:25

I wear a loose linen dress and cotton knickers!
